Since I'm a Borderlands nerd....what I thought of when I saw the above pic:

 

 

It used to be (still might be) the most expensive assault rifle due to quality Swiss manufacturing. (and perhaps over-inflated SIG prices). 

I really like the overall shape though.

The only assault rifle (its actually a battle rifle) I've always liked is the FN-FAL, especially our Austrian STG-58 version. Huge, heavy brutish and dead-reliable rifle. Very little plastic and everything else good old forged steel. Fires a big round too. Has an integral bipod! Sexy as hell. 

 

 

What I did today: I continued my wait for a parcel delivery and it didn't arrive today either.  Curses.

RK 62 and 95 TP are my favorite assault rifles, but my opinion is absolutely biased because they are only assault rifles that I have used outside of shooting range and which I am most familiar with.

Yeah, or block 2 RK62 with old style metallic mag.*

 

A tool rather than an instrument, but that's all it was ever supposed to be. The design philosophy really boils down to the selector and one click for full auto, two clicks for semi auto.

 

*ie. those are issued interchangeably within units, so that you're equipped either with a 62 or a 76 OR the whole unit gets the folding stock 95.

 

Unless things have changed.

I'd like to have an FNC some day.

Just got back in from a visit to town and central bank branch office... all fun and games. It's always awkward to run the balance of being quite annoyed and letting them know it, when the person you're talking to is polite, professional, is fixing your problems and had nothing to do with causing any of the problems in the first place.

 

Still, hot. Apparently the government has issues heatwave level 3 warnings in most places around the country to a lot of the emergency services. Temperatures have been running on average between 5-10 degrees C above what they normally are for over a week. Various high risk health issues for people not adapted to it, sunstroke and wotnot.

Well I'd trade all of those for a nice engraved Colt SAA.

Today I am dropping off a new TV to my RV repair shop, and they are putting it in.  We did a bunch of work on the rig, some were warranty replacements of things that were wearing down, but a few are to update it to be a bit more comfortable.  We are replacing our old 19' box TV with a 32' flatscreen.  It actually will free up quite a bit of space.

I think we need to establish a specific "Gun Pron" thread for folks here..

Hm ,also got drawn into a discussion with a topic of "if you had the sort of job that you could do from anywhere, where in the world would you live and why?"

 

For some reason that just made me think of some of the cruises my parents took me on when I was growing up. The classic P&O cruise liners, not those annoying, brash, coastal "party ships" that so many people say are cruises (I know, the snob in me breaks out ). How there'd always be a batch of old folks on the ships who literally lived year round, staying from one cruise to the next, because it worked out better then paying for an actual retirement home.

Just imagining what it would be like if you had a job you could pretty much phone/internet in while living as a passenger like that. All the services, the fine dining, the entertainment, the theatre, the cinema, the library, the casino, the clubs... The travel, the rolling ocean waves and sea breezes, every few days hitting a different port and another culture..

That certainly sounds appealing to me.

I've been melting in the uncomfortable British summer heat... Seasonal warmth is so overrated.

 

What's wrong with the rain? It's cooling, refreshing, relaxing to hear it strumming against the window... *Sigh*

This weather can continue as long as it likes. I feel as if I'm thriving in all the sunshine.

Sadly no, just people emailing saying "Is $my_name screwing around with the servers again?". Curses

I would advise them to call a registered tech-priest as the soul of the machine-servers appears troubled.

 

I would also advise putting some gothic flying buttresses on your desk.
