Calax
So one is good because it is completely fictional and the other is crap because it is a What If scenario. ... Not entirely - it's a matter of expectations. Planescape as a fantasy universe comes with a set of expectations that it almost immediately breaks as it turns out not to be Tolkien inspired. This leaves players free to approach it without preexisting bias. Assassins Creed creates expectation of a historical setting which it fulfills for a good while but then suddenly it moves into the direction of a poorly handled sci-fi. In the end AC was always doomed to become a mess story-wise as you cannot make a long-running series work with conspiracy theories. You either need a new bigger mystery for every revelation you make or simply never resolve anything. Finally a good answer. Although I disagree about the particulars. I don't know how AC1 starts, but the whole animus thing makes it pretty clear from the get go that this is sci-fi. Or at least fi. AC1 starts with you in a memory, the the animus flips out because you aren't that well "synched" to the ancestor. Basically the reasons you're doing ALL of the memories, is the macguffin at the end of each game. You have to start MUCH earlier however, just so that your mind doesn't outright reject the memories you're digging up (I think). Anymore, the concept of Synching has been abandoned story wise. Particularly in Brotherhood, where Desmond must re-synch with Ezio... who's life he'd just lived to that point. That's the annoying thing about the Animus, when you look at it. ANYTHING you point at and say "THIS DOES NOT WORK!" can be waved away as "You're in the Animus, he might have done it slightly differently but the system just showed you this to scoot things along" Victor of the 5 year fan fic competition! Kevin Butler will awesome your face off.
Labadal
I'm almost done with act 2 in MotB. Instead of going to a wedding, I've been playing this for the last 3-4 hours.

GhostofAnakin
Reading that other thread about Dragon Age 2 got me interested in trying another run through the DA series, starting with Origins. I'm finding that the actual main quests are boring, but I'm getting more enjoyment out of the sidequests and reading the lore, whether through codex entries or character dialogue. Malcador
Well Civ 4 game is getting interesting, heh, judging by the demographics screen this war with Persia has cost him 7 million soldiers, the middle east is a cauldron of death. Used to read 'histories' of people's Civ 2 games long ago, should have written one for this. Why has elegance found so little following? Elegance has the disadvantage that hard work is needed to achieve it and a good education to appreciate it. - Edsger Wybe Dijkstra
GhostofAnakin
Finished IWD tonight. It was quite amusing when I'd lost all my tanks and was left with a bow-specialist rogue and my puny mage to take on the final boss. Thankfully he was down to "almost dead" status by this point, but I figured I was toast since my mage had also pretty much exhausted all his best offensive spells (which the boss seemed to be largely immune to anyway). Just when he approached my final two party members and was about to take a swipe, my mage killed him with a thrust of his trusty dagger. Phew. Now onto Heart of Winter. Tale
Actually enjoying Halo 4 multiplayer. Though the marksman rifle dominating makes it repetitive quickly. Close to the same problem Reach had with the same gun, it's just not as bad since there's two other guns that are workable. Still rifles, sadly. Also has the console FPS problems of small playercounts and short map times. Saw I had a little bit of money left, so I grabbed both Deponia games while GOG had them on sale. I'll try them out tomorrow to decide if I should play them or ZOE HD. "Show me a man who "plays fair" and I'll show you a very talented cheater." Just when he approached my final two party members and was about to take a swipe, my mage killed him with a thrust of his trusty dagger. The fight is kind of interesting, because during it, my Thief/Fighter became the most efficient character in the team, which hasn't really happened in any other fight in entire IWD. Also, that Thief/Fighter was my "main character", if he can be called that, so it felt really good to have him obliterate the boss with numerous backstabs Also, that same Thief/Fighter died permanently in the last quarter of the Hearts of Winter bossfight. I imagine in my head that they held a grand funeral session for him to honor his heroics. I couldn't have wished for a more fitting death

Guest Slinky
I wanted to replay Baulders gate but my discs have disappeared. The release date of the enhanced edition isn't far, might just as well wait for that. Remains to be seen is it enhanced enough to make people to buy the same game again though. And how many modder will remake their mods for it.
BruceVC
I have just started Alpha Protocol and I am really enjoying it so far, I just need to get use to a few things around gameplay. GhostofAnakin
Having to do the solo sections of DA:O playing as a mage is frustrating. I'm not so tough when I don't have my tank fighters making sure enemies aren't able to get into melee range with me. I'm not so tough when I don't have my tank fighters making sure enemies aren't able to get into melee range with me. Don't bother patching the game and play as an arcane warrior. Activate all the sustained spells you can and just wade into combat. That was so much more fun before they made all those defensive spells drain mana with every hit. LadyCrimson
Torchlight2 - The genie main story quest in late Act2 is great for getting some gear and clvl's. I could repeat that one area over and over without having to save/quit/reload the game. You level so fast ... my Outlander is lvl36 now, and the pace never feels like it slows down much. Current gear, my ferret pet has almost 3 times as much health as I do. Have tried the other 3 classes up to at least lvl24 now, and the Outlander is still my fave. Oddly, I like the guns in the game more than the non-gun weapons/magic. Just love being a badass gunslinger. Never used to be that into guns in fantasy games, even action ones. I blame Borderlands1. “Things are as they are. LadyCrimson
Nothing beats nine (9) fully upgraded Spider Mines Heh, I haven't tried those yet. I like the healing pulse robot and summons in general, tho. A vendor opened up in Act2 who sells scroll-spells, but they're only higher level ones.
