Karranthain Posted October 4, 2012 Posted October 4, 2012 Incantations were cool in IE games; yes please!
Skie Nightfall Posted October 4, 2012 Posted October 4, 2012 You sir, have just made me want to replay those games. ✔ Certified Bat Food
kabaliero Posted October 4, 2012 Posted October 4, 2012 Man, that Flaming Fist support cleric\mage chanting his "Alteration school" for "Haste" spell sure was scary to hear. However, BG1's chanting sounds differed from the later projects i think it only shared them with early ICWD 1.
Xantomas Posted October 5, 2012 Posted October 5, 2012 Vas Ort Flam! Kal Vas Flam! Corp Por! Corp Por! An Corp... In Vas Mani 2
Troller Posted October 5, 2012 Posted October 5, 2012 Vas Ort Flam! Kal Vas Flam! Corp Por! Corp Por! An Corp... In Vas Mani haha those were cool too, but didn't have voice, at least on the versions I played...
JWestfall Posted October 5, 2012 Posted October 5, 2012 Yes, definitely. However, to give this game its own distinct flavor, maybe use a variation of Latin: Irefay Allbay! Armchay Onstermay!
Silver6986 Posted October 5, 2012 Posted October 5, 2012 Oh dear god YES PLEASE!!!!! BRING THIS BACK!!!!!!
Bobby Null Posted October 5, 2012 Posted October 5, 2012 Klaatu Verata Nikto! Seriously though, these were pretty cool. *Jots down some notes* 3
cyberarmy Posted October 5, 2012 Posted October 5, 2012 They can use Sacrifice spell incantations too Nothing is true, everything is permited.
Gyges Posted October 5, 2012 Posted October 5, 2012 Bumpus, ontos, mainpageus!! This is definitely something i would like to see.
Sensuki Posted October 5, 2012 Author Posted October 5, 2012 Klaatu Verata Nikto! Seriously though, these were pretty cool. *Jots down some notes* Winnah

Sensuki Posted October 5, 2012 Author Posted October 5, 2012 Another reason the BG/IWD ones were the best is the manner of their delivery and the right post-processing choices.

diablo169 Posted October 5, 2012 Posted October 5, 2012 I'll say yes provided some thought goes into it, and that it doesnt eat the budget with voice acting.
Hobo Elf Posted October 5, 2012 Posted October 5, 2012 I really liked the incantations in BG and IWD. They gave the spells a lot of oomph.
Cthulchulain Posted October 6, 2012 Posted October 6, 2012 Audible incantations are really welcome. I am thinking one set of incantations for when spells are fired off successfully, and another set of incantations for when spells are miscast. I picture an interaction with an apprentice or Biff the Understudy: Incertus, pulcher... uh, impediment? Fizzle... Manus, potentis, pyro, *hand lights on fire* OWW! 1

khaooohs Posted October 27, 2013 Posted October 27, 2013 totally agree, and to add something new, maybe would be cool to make spell casting words sound just like the character's voice, or since you can chose your character's culture, using different languages...anyway I love that latin stuff
Messier-31 Posted October 27, 2013 Posted October 27, 2013 @ 1st post Whoa, all this time and I finally get to see how to write those. Living under a rock wasn't a good idea, huh It would be of small avail to talk of magic in the air...
eimatshya Posted October 27, 2013 Posted October 27, 2013 I'm fine with having voice acted invocations, but I would prefer that they weren't in Latin as the whole "Latin is the language of magic" thing irritates me. Also I think Latin sounds kind of silly. 1
samm Posted October 27, 2013 Posted October 27, 2013 As stated in the other thread, I really dislike this latin pronounciation, as well as the phrases used for incantations (thanks for spelling them out, Sensuki! ) I can't help but feel embarassed for the writers/speakers/characters hearing them. So for me, it's a [x]NO Yes to cool incantations, no to latin. Use the conlangs instead, for example 1 Citizen of a country with a racist, hypocritical majority
jeffnindo Posted October 27, 2013 Posted October 27, 2013 (edited) I would love to see this implemented for I have fond memories of learning new spells and getting to hear the different incantations in BG I and II. It also reminds me of the chanting used by the Third Race in the Gargoyles cartoon. Yes to incantations, and yes to Latin!
