Man, that Flaming Fist support cleric\mage chanting his "Alteration school" for "Haste" spell sure was scary to hear. :)

However, BG1's chanting sounds differed from the later projects

i think it only shared them with early ICWD 1.

Another reason the BG/IWD ones were the best is the manner of their delivery and the right post-processing choices.

"Spicati (crinis) magnis penetratio"

Or translated:

spiked (tentacles) forced penetration

Audible incantations are really welcome. I am thinking one set of incantations for when spells are fired off successfully, and another set of incantations for when spells are miscast.

I picture an interaction with an apprentice or Biff the Understudy:

Incertus, pulcher... uh, impediment? Fizzle...

Manus, potentis, pyro, *hand lights on fire* OWW!

totally agree, and to add something new, maybe would be cool to make spell casting words sound just like the character's voice, or since you can chose your character's culture, using different languages...anyway I love that latin stuff

Whoa, all this time and I finally get to see how to write those. Living under a rock wasn't a good idea, huh :shifty:

It would be of small avail to talk of magic in the air...

I'm fine with having voice acted invocations, but I would prefer that they weren't in Latin as the whole "Latin is the language of magic" thing irritates me. Also I think Latin sounds kind of silly.

As stated in the other thread, I really dislike this latin pronounciation, as well as the phrases used for incantations (thanks for spelling them out, Sensuki! :) ) I can't help but feel embarassed for the writers/speakers/characters hearing them.

So for me, it's a [x]NO

Yes to cool incantations, no to latin. Use the conlangs instead, for example :)

I would love to see this implemented for I have fond memories of learning new spells and getting to hear the different incantations in BG I and II. It also reminds me of the chanting used by the Third Race in the Gargoyles cartoon.

Yes to incantations, and yes to Latin!
