Guys guys if you haven't been to Vault 11 yet go there now. It's my favorite Vault of all time.

I did that over the weekend. It was great.

Rare to see a 'dungeon' in these days whose payoff almost entirely narrative (only 1 fight of consequence and almost no useful loot) and yet is completely satisfying. The core conceit of V11 is hardly original, but the way it unfolds to the player exploring it is really well done. Edit: Plus, the historical developments within the Vault make perfect sense from a game-theoretical point-of-view:

relatively stable equilibrium until the point where one faction gains an absolute majority, whereupon everything goes to hell

.

Indeed. Maybe even a jar of cookies.

Oh, and re: taking the Fort by night. They seemed plenty awake to me, of course Boone and myself with anti-materiel rifles weren't exactly subtle going in...

How do you get unbanned from a casino? They didn't like me winning at the slots.

Well I guess I'll have to go postal on them. No one bans me.

I haven't even *met* Veronica yet, and I'm level 25.

Veronica is the third companion in the main quest's path. She's at 188, which is on the way between Novac and Boulder.

188 isn't part of the main quest's path (At least, I'm to The House Always Wins, II and haven't been ordered there) . I've managed to explore... *loads game* *counts* 103 locations but no location 188.

I'm not saying you get ordered there, just that it's between two locations that quest locations. Between Boulder and Novac. I'm actually very surprised that you missed it, unless the soldiers scared you so you snuck by.

After Novac I went to Helios, which sent me to Camp Forlorn Hope, and after I'd done a few quests there, I went to Boulder. Not sure what soldiers you're talking about, but I only sneak if I'm going to steal something, though I crouch when snipering.

That'll explain it.

There are soldiers stationed there.

So I'm trying to finish some BoS quest, where the elder dude sends you to Black Mountain. But I can't get inside that door on the second floor because it requires a key, but I can't find the key. I've already finished the Tabitha quest, but she didn't give me a key to the place when she left (I talked her out of it).

Am I stuck? Or is there a key somewhere I haven't looked?

So was Vault 11 supposed to have a grand revelation?

I found the thingamajig for the BoS, but got so annoyed with the companion AI that suddenly went berserk as soon as I had entered the Vault, not to mention not being able to find a way through the Vault's labyrinthine depths due to the horrible PipBOY map, that I left.

I swear the stupid PipBOY wanted to me to clip through a wall to reach a corridor.

there's a note on the first floor saying that the key is hidden behind the building under the staircase. not sure if you can find it without reading the note first. but I think if you repair the robot first, it'll open the door for you and you won't have to kill Tabitha

Really? Can't find the note. And as soon as I repaired the robot and exited that building, Tabitha showed up and she took him with her. So I didn't have a chance to walk around with the robot.

Hopefully the key is where you say it is, even without the note. Otherwise I'm screwed.

maybe it's not a note but an entry in one of the terminals, I can't recall

Yup....8 Luck...won the oranges slot jackpot in about 10 minutes. I know about the casino-banning tho, and since I don't know what amount-'cleaning them out' I bet low & left with my 750caps winnings. I'll come back later, I have sufficient money for now. lol Playing the 2nd chr. it sure does feel like Luck also affects loot. But could also be coincidence.

I found it interesting too that Boone prefers the Service Rifle (lower dmg./high dps) over the Hunting Rifle (much higher dmg, lower dps). He wouldn't equip the latter if I put both in his inventory. Guess he likes the fast-firing 20 bullets at a time dps. Giant Scorps & Caz-flies are not a problem. Neither was a mutant I encountered in the hills. Packs of those orangeish dogs were more troublesome. Things definitely hit a lot harder in Very Hard...but that's why I'm a sniper.

ps I don't like ED-E making my weapons deteriorate faster tho. I think it's because of him...

Encountered the problem with the Securitrons blasting the crap out of ED-E. That set me back an hour.

Does the game ever explain the arcane messages to the "Sixth Courier" spread across the Wasteland, not to mention why the courier in Primm that was originally going to do the job, freaked out and cancelled the job when he noticed the main character's name on the list? I was expecting some plot twist, but it's just not coming.

The ending of the words is ALMSIVI.

hooks for dlc maybe?

or just interesting little mysterious to make the world feel more alive and full?

You know of more messages than just the wreckage outside of Primm?

It's probably a dropped subplot. This may also end up being a DLC hook.

Apparently I approached from the "wrong direction" during the retrieve the corpse quest. The NPC guard who's apparently supposed to warn you about the goons as you approach showed up right by the body after I'd killed everyone on the rooftops and then I got lost as to where I was supposed to take the body, so I was marching all over the place with it for long minutes. That was annoying.

It appears that while you can rush to Vegas/away from the normal order of doing things, it can mildly mess up some of those scripting events. Same thing with Victor showing up. He all-of-a-sudden showed up in some radiated pool I was near, nowhere near any town, to tell me to meet House, and then got stuck in the pool trying to roll away. And I have yet to get the guy telling me about the star bottle caps.

Also:this time I wanted the point w/Boone by killing Silus during the interrogation. So first I tried killing him right off. The NRC woman rushed in, admonished me, and left the room. The 2nd time I used INT to get half of Silus info then attacked him. But the NRC gal came in and started her spiel about 'great job' right as I landed the killing blow. She continued to tell me how awesome I was for getting info w/out killing Silus, and then turned to talk to Silus...only Silus was dead, so now she appears stuck in the interrogation room and won't come out. But I got my point with Boone!

I don't think this is the reason. I approached the body from the back alley. you have to take it to the NCR guys a 100 meters down the road across the Repconn building.

I have yet to get the guy telling me about the star bottle caps.

that's strange. I found my first cap in Goodsprings and he approached me almost immediately

Silus was dead, so now she appears stuck in the interrogation room and won't come out. But I got my point with Boone! :p

wow, that's not good. there's a couple of quests linked to her

I never saw the guy who talked about the caps in my first game. He probably got murdered by someone while looking for me.

Heck, when he found me in the second game, he nearly walked into the NCR/Powder Ganger fight.

oh? Just side quests or important ones (or more Boone ones)?

I was kind of hoping she might come out upon quit/reloading the game or something. As usual I went to bed after playing a while after that happened and didn't reload it yet. If she doesn't, I can reload the savegame from then and try again, but I'd rather not. That's what I get for trying to have my cake (some info from Silus) and eat it too (kill him for Boone). heh
