Movies you've seen recently

Hehe, I infer from your post time that you caught the midnight show. Was the place packed?

Yup. There was a line wrapping right the **** around the theater for those who didn't do internet ordering (which luckily I did). I had to go through 3 separate showings to find one with three open seats in a row.

In 7th grade, I teach the students how Chuck Norris took down the Roman Empire, so it is good that you are starting early on this curriculum.

I caught it, too. They didn't even try to make a whole movie out of the first part. They just cut a longer movie straight in half. You call that a climax?

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo; the original, great movie. Sweden has been making great movies lately, which are doomed to be copied by Hollywood this is the second movie in a row to be made into a crappy American remake.

I'd say the answer to that question is kind of like the answer to "who's the sucker in this poker game?"*

Actually, I happened to like the ending. It had that

sad/triumphant

contrast that I think really characterizes the first part.

Also, this one was much truer to the book than the other 6 were... other than a few shifted scenarios (i.e.

them getting caught

) its lifted pretty much word for word.

Oh, and dobby is a complete and total hardass. So's yaxley.

To be fair, people seem to really like Empire Strikes Back pretty well and it does the same thing (ie it doesn't resolve anything set up in the film).

I cannot - yet I must. How do you calculate that? At what point on the graph do "must" and "cannot" meet? Yet I must - but I cannot! ~ Ro-Man

I didn't complain about lack of resolution. ESB has a climax.

If you didn't understand it, I'm sorry, but you must have ADD or something, or you're just stupid.

I'd berate you for saying that, except I'm pretty sure you've mentioned in the past that you have AD(H)D so I think it would be a bit odd to do so.

Certainly I have ADHD and the movie was simple to understand. I thoroughly enjoyed it and while it wasn't necessarily intellectually strenuous to understand, it WAS an intellectual movie because it made you think, ponder and consider for days afterwards.

EDIT: We're talking about Inception

I dunno, in terms of climax, I think the revelation of the Deathly Hollows (which pretty much all of the wandering in the wilderness was leading to) followed immediately by the capture/escape worked fine. In ESB its the capture of Han/escape from Cloud City followed by the revelation of Luke-Vader's relationship. Same thing essentially, but reverse order. In both cases the denouement consists of the heroes going to lick their wounds while the villains stand triumphant

Rumor is that Noomi Rapace is the lead female actress for the Alien prequels. A fitting role, considering she can play a tough bitch.

Maybe but this is a "psychotic anti-hero, sensitive bitch" Plus I'm wondering how they'll handle the really gritty scenes.

In ESB it was the shootout escape and extensive lightsaber fight. That was the climax of ESB. The fight near the end of DH Pt 1 was pitiful.

I just did a marathon session and finished watching Smallville Seasons 1-9 as well as the current episodes in Season 10 over the last 4 weeks. Been blown away by all the characters from the DC Universe that have shown up. The origin of some of the characters are not exactly like the comics, but still good to see nonetheless. Of course there's the usual Lex Luthor and Lois Lane that have appeared.

But other characters that have shown up have been Lana Lang, Pete Ross, Lucy Lane, Supergirl, Justice League of America, Martian Manhunter, Legion of Superheroes (Cosmic Boy, Lighting Lad, Saturn Girl, Braniac 5), Mr Mxyzptlk, Krypto the Dog, Bizarro, Rick Flag, Deadshot, the Suicide Squad, the JSA (Dr Fate, Star Spangled Kid, Sandman, Hawkman, Green Lantern, Wildcat), Aquaman and Mera, Metallo, Toyman. Elastic Lad (shown as Pete Ross but should have been Jimmy Olsen), Green Arrow, Black Canary, Bart Allen (Impulse), Doomsday, Cyborg, Zan and Jayna (the wonder twins), Maxima, Plastique, Darkseid, Desaad, Silver Banshee, etc. Also mentioning Batman and Wonder Woman even though they don't appear in person.

I'm sure I've missed a few, but still Brilliant!

I got quite into this a few years back..but for some reason I stopped watching around season 6 or 7.. I can't remember what it was that life interupted my viewing with..

And if they had gone on for another 150 pages they would have walked right the **** into Minas Tirith. Which is, incidentally, the premise of part two.

I also stopped watching around season 6 or 7, but only because it became really ****ing ****. First seasons were semi-decent though.

Actually, it gets better especially in Seasons 8, 9 and 10 when they have quite a few superhero groups like the semi-formed JLA as well as the JSA, Legion and the Suicide Squad. Probably the worse season would be Season 1 as there are only about 5 episodes worth watching while the rest are just Monster of the Week episodes.

I wouldn't bother. I looked into it once, and while taking over the world isn't that much of a pain, running it afterwards is just murder.

You wouldn't believe the red-tape and bureaucracy it would take. It's just not worthwhile. >_<

I've been watching Dexter and I'm surprised how much I'm liking it so far. Unlike The Sopranos I actually like most of the main characters in the show. I think my biggest annoyance so far has been Dexer speaking to his dead father in the present. I don't so much mind the flashbacks to life lessons/etc but the whole 'person talking to a dead person to represent the character thinking' is getting a bit old.

I also finally saw The Expendables. Lots of stuff blew up and it was cool. There was also a story or something but I wasn't paying attention...
