Well this is just part 1 of 3 of the story, so you can't really finish stories.

I'd argue that point

Just watched the first mission being played on youtube... what the hell? I mean, I'm sure I've forgotten lots, but in my head Starcraft was about 3 weird races blasting each other in space, first and foremost. Here you're on Earth (or some Earthanoid planet) and it's basically Call of Duty. Cheesy viva la resistance, Amerikan Badasses! for the entirety of... the miniscule ~5 minute mission.

I always hated the missions in RTSes where you get about 5 puny units and one hero, because it's basically a tactical RPG but ten times less tactical and more boring. So that might be it... I assume the first mission was simple like that to be a tutorial.

The first mission is hardly representative of the entire game tig. But for the game you're fighting all the races.

As much as I liked the game, Blizzard really needs some lecture on story telling, because there were plot holes eveywhere.

I'm not sure about that. Plot holes are essential part of the Blizzard experince. That and retcon

Let's play Alpha Protocol

What happend with Mengks + son for example?

Not sure what you mean with that? Like, afterward? Or before? If it's the before, that's why Blizzard released "I, Mensk", a StarCraft novel.

Valerian was presumably on Warfield's ship, and Arcturus was sitting in the middle of open revolt

, so good question.

Meh, the ending was disappointing.

anyone have any good Terran strat for multiplayer? I get my ass handed to me every game.

From what I've seen Marines and Marauders are your main early fighters. But my suggestion would be for you to go onto youtube and watch a series of the tutorials.

I think this is ultimately the downfall for SC multiplayer in that you HAVE to know "build orders" in order to exist with clicks per minute being important (I wish I was kidding) It's almost TO competitive (being able to do competitive and non-competitive random fights would be nice)

Fair enough guys - I didn't think you'd be doing that all game. It was more of a comment on how overloaded it was with MARINE BADASS feel. The environments sure look good, though, and interface well designed as usual.

I'm still mulling it about - I actually really love competitive online play, I'm no stranger to build orders and frenetic micro and such, either. I just don't know if I'll like SC itself, the core gameplay - I wasn't impressed by SC1 or WC3.

That ending mission was kind of fun, although the timing of things made it mechanical. Ending was a disappointment though, but at least

We didn't get some cheesy scene of Tychus sacrificing himself by not killing Kerrigan. Then Raynor wants him dead even more.

I reached the first Char mission, the one with the drop pods. I complained before that the missions were too easy, even though I'm playing on hard. Well, that's mostly true, but it seems I've finally got some challenging missions ahead of me. It happened very late into the game, 22 missions out of 26 if I'm not mistaken, but still it's good to have a few of them.

Tried it for about 15 minutes and I swear I kept hearing "your base/your ally's base is under attack" EVERY GODDAMN MINUTE, because apparently EVERYTHING was under attack AT ALL TIMES, so I rage quit "I'M NOT IN THE MOOD FOR THIS".

I'll try it later today when I'm fully rested and in a good mood for infuriating missions. I hope the rest of the game is as challenging as this mission seems to be.

Hard not challenging enough, uh-huh. o:)

I found the drop pod mission relatively easy.

Next mission should be easy, if a bit time consuming, the last one will be a bitch.

If the nydus worms weren't bad enough, Kerrigan periodically attacks your base with 1250 hp and one hit kill attacks, the artifact barely scratching her.

I've learnt the hard way that online RTS games are only really much fun with friends, competitive online play is tough for the non-obsessive. Hot-keying ninja-skillz, clicks-per-minute and precise build orders are the sort of thing you need to be Rain Man to figure out and I can't be doing with it. It isn't fun, it's stripping the game down to maths. I'm sure SC2 isn't any different.

The problem I have with these missions is that they give you a new unit in almost every single mission. It's like "here's how you win", plus I have a few years of SC1 experience (I'm not saying I'm good, I'm a noob compared to most), but still add up these two and it equals extremely easy missions for me. Those missions, while definitely fun and well made, leave extremely little room for experimentation.

I'm fine with that kind of mission sometimes but I mostly don't want to be told what to do. I wanted them to give me the objective "do this", and let me figure out how to do it. That's what I'm hoping for in the final missions, and this drop pods one seems to deliver that.

I wasn't in the mood to multitask as heavily as the drop pods mission seemed to demand, I was tired. I'll try it later.

What?

She's still the second strongest human psyker, the artifact obviously didn't de-zergify her completely (hello head tentacles), and if she lost her connection to the force zerg she wouldn't be of much use in stopping the Dark Voice. Not to mention that DV could use the Zerg uncontested if Kerrigan lost control.

It's not like the ending ran a 5 minute dissertation on the

change's effects

This is basically because of the non-linearity of the missions. The game cannot bet on you having any particular unit except the MOST basic ones and the ones you get on that missions so the ones on that mission it is.

I wonder now that

after Kerrigan is a human again

who will lead the Zerg swarm for the first expansion pack?

Yeah, but in earlier Blizzard interviews it's already been revealed the first expansion, Heart of the Swarm, the Zerg Campaign,

it has you play Kerrigan who is at least still partially in control of Zerg.

I think it's so the Zerg campaign is actually interesting. What's the fun playing the Queen Bitch of the Universe who already has everything? Instead, we're going to play a depowered Kerrigan who is trying to keep her grip on the Zerg whereas most of the Zerg has come under something else's control again - probably a return of the Cerebrates

DV more likely. At least I hope so, instead of dragging the story on.
