Here is another reason why I hate my country. You might notice the news about illegal immigration and the controversy involved if you are in the US. I have no problem with LEGAL immigration. I think it is a necessary institution to keep the US strong and have a varied and diverse culture. We should have tougher laws against ILLEGAL immigration. Those who come into the country illegally are nothing but parasites and need to be treated as such. They need to be incarcerated then sent back to their coumtry of origin.

 

Of course some liberal minded person would say we are all immigrants and I would say bullcrap. I was born in this country and my ancesters came here LEGALLY 3 generations ago.

 

As I said, I don't mind people legally coming into the US to work and live. One of my friends is an immigrant from Great Britain who is going to be a high school teacher in chemistry down in Saint Louis next year. He came to this country legally and worked hard for what he has. That is how immigration should work.

 

If you are an illegal immigrant I don't care if you have been here for one minute, 1 day, 1 week, 1 month, 1 year, 1 decade, or 1 century. You didn't come here legally so get the hell out. This isn't your country.

I am afraid that won't be enough. The government spendings on border security in the past years have increased three fold only to see an increase in the number of illegal immigrants.

 

Also Hades, if you check the numbers, a large portion (30~40%) of the illegal immigrants here are women and the majority of the illegals are family-oriented and hard-working people. Don't get the wrong impression that most of them are single men and are either gang members or drug dealers. Secondly, they do contribute positively to many industries here. I have no problem with cracking down on the criminals among illegal immigrants with harsh measures, but a guest-worker program seems necessary; otherwise, US would be hurting itself by driving away a part of its work force. (Our unemployment rate is still around a very healthy 5% mind you.)

Medical insurance does need an overhauling. Insurance works well when there are infrequent but large claims. Medical insurance is anything but. The premiums basically become your expected future payments for yourself.

 

In Australia it's subsidised laregly by the Government out of their tax income and it's a large % of GDP, and increasing. There's no easy way and "free" just means the money's coming from somewhere else - possibly higher taxes or something which is less transparent.

A friend of mine just emmigrated to Norway.

 

Sounds like the country is very farm-oriented: where the "farms" are fishing villages. Low density residential structure. Very pretty (if you like the fractal geometry of fjords, and who doesn't?) and LOTS of snow.

 

Very friendly people, big drinkers (but alcohol is so expensive thee that people bring their own and take it back with them when they attend parties).

Norwegians are spoiled, rich, lazy, apathetic and emotionally cold.

Practically half the population lives on welfare instead of actually working.

We're so politicallly correct (socialist government) that we're about to be totally a**fscked by immigrants, who just give a little snicker when they find out how easy it is to get welfare money instead of working. I think Mullah Krekar (a muslim leader) is going to release a book on why children should blow themselves up.. I think he'll get some sort of support to work on his book. It's probably my tax-money. The nazis had these insulting educational movies that they showed their soldiers during WW2, where Norwegians were portrayed as introvert farmers with their heads in the sand. They were right.

I'd rather pay more taxes on a spread out/yearly basis than be ripped off by insurance companies (or medical companies ripping off insurance companies and therefore increasing insurance rates in that way).

 

If we'd had covering insurance, the sleep clinic would have charged us $2000 for hubby's CPAP, but since we didn't, they said "Oh ok, we'll give it to you for $1000 then."

I'm all for a trade prop. For every immigrant that wants to come over the other country involved has to take all the pieces of crap we don't want in this country. First of all, many central and south Americans come to US illegally as well and are known to have started some of the most notorious gang organizations in US.
