majestic Posted December 15, 2022 Posted December 15, 2022 Nope, playing Quake is. No mind to think. No will to break. No voice to cry suffering.
Malcador Posted December 15, 2022 Posted December 15, 2022 UT3's soundtrack is pretty good at least. And no, Tribes is the gold standard. 1 1 Why has elegance found so little following? Elegance has the disadvantage that hard work is needed to achieve it and a good education to appreciate it. - Edsger Wybe Dijkstra

Keyrock Posted December 18, 2022 Author Posted December 18, 2022 I'm waiting for these fabled Unreal Engine 5 games to some day release. I remember the big reveal like 3 years ago and people losing their $#!+ about Unreal Engine 5. Oh my God, it's so unreal and it's like the 5th engine or whatever. Look at these graphics, they're so graphics, I've never seen graphics that were so graphics. We got that Matrix tech demo, which was cool and all, but it was just a tech demo. Anyway, fast forward to today and... I realize games take time to make, but we are going to get some of these UE5 games that will blow our minds eventually, right? Well, I guess it makes sense that Epic themselves would be the first ones to get a game out into the wild with their extra shiny new engine. Despite it being f2p, I'm not about to try it out because I'm afraid that if I play it for any length of time my hair (what's left of it) would turn blue and I would start adding pre-roll ads for Raid Shadow Legends to my posts. I guess I'll have to wait a bit longer to see what all the fuss was about. 4 RFK Jr 2024 "Any organization created out of fear must create fear to survive." - Bill Hicks
Bokishi Posted December 18, 2022 Posted December 18, 2022 Maybe devs are waiting for hardware to get better. I mean nothing can handle UE5 at epic nanite in 4K, even the 4090 struggles at 15fps in the forest demo with those settings. This engine needs next next gen hardware, (like a 6080 or a PS7) in order to see this thing at full potential 1 Current 3DMark

Bokishi Posted December 18, 2022 Posted December 18, 2022 That could be the case, there's a lot of random cpu spikes for no reason in all of those demos that are out. I tried this new ue5.1 implementation of the City Sample demo and appears to be more optimized than the others and performance is a bit better  1 Current 3DMark
