New Hampshire Primary Polls: Voters Would Rather a Giant Meteor Kill Humankind Than See Trump Re-elected

lmao, Trump's bad, but he's not "let's destroy the world" bad, New Hampshire! Even when sports fans say "I hope a meteor hits the stadium than either teams win!", they aren't including the rest of the world in it...

How I have existed fills me with horror. For I have failed in everything - spelling, arithmetic, riding, tennis, golf; dancing, singing, acting; wife, mistress, whore, friend. Even cooking. And I do not excuse myself with the usual escape of 'not trying'. I tried with all my heart.

In my dreams, I am not crippled. In my dreams, I dance.

I think those kind of questions are so ridiculous that people vote for the irrational answer for kicks rather than genuinely think so.

It's not like a serious question like: would you rather have caner or feminizm poll in which cancer won.

On the other hand those are Democrats voters so it might be the case.

You don't have to. They will break themselves. All the Democrats have to do is field a viable candidate and.... ummm...... uh-oh...

Just goes the show the what selfish dirt bags people will be: "If its not my way / what Im thinking, then destroy it all".  Its a fundamental flaw in the West that everyone always thinks they're right about everything, usually based off an internet opinion.

Is fundamental flaw in people, wouldn't say the West has special people, or it was due to the Internet.  West just has more weapons with which to cause trouble when they think that way though 😛

Speak for yourself. I, for one, always assume I'm wrong about everything! And I usually am!

So yeah, therapy's been fun.

Just as long as you don't want to kill everyone.

Well, or if you do...just don't mention it at work.  Just saying.

Greta Thunberg is getting her own TV show on BBC. Correct me if I'm wrong here but over 90% of GB's power generation is fossil fuels. Less that 10% is renewable and of that only 3% is nuclear/wind/etc is zero emission. The other 7% is what UK Energy describes as "other fuels". This is as of 2016.

So... asking for a friend here... tuning in to watch Greta save the planet is actually HURTING the planet am I right?

But... what the hell. If the Kardashians can have a show why note Green Greta.  https://www.thewrap.com/greta-thunberg-tv-series-bbc-studios/

Greta is brilliant business woman, at age 16 she is world famous millionaire just by telling that people should read IPCC's reports and studies.

I would rather that the conversation moves past whether or not a public healthcare system is "socialism" (something similar to Warren's plan was championed by icons of American politics like Ted Kennedy and George McGovern, so I hardly think it would lead to the US becoming a Stalinist hellhole) so that there is an actual debate on serious questions that must be answered before such a scheme can move forwards.

well, that were our point 'bout agreement with chris matthews. "socialism," good or bad, is what any speaker wants it to be, and nobody describes what they actual mean when the curse or applaud socialism, so is less than helpful to applaud or complain w/o an explanation o' specific concerns.

where chris matthews were correct is his recognition that bernie needs to start answering tough questions.

bernie needs to answer questions rather than indulging in the classic pivot. ask how he is gonna pay for all the stuff he is promising? bernie response: how can we afford to not start paying? pivots is no more useful than the socialism label.

am agreeing the divisive nature o' the 2020 Presidential race mirrors US society as a whole and is o' prime concern, but am not seeing a way to stop the fire w/o a candidate or a message which a significant % o' americans could embrace regardless o' party loyalties and historical biases. likely haven't seen this level o' divisiveness in five decades. trump sure ain't gonna channel his inner fred rogers anytime soon. kamala harris bothered us 'cause she were too caustic. bernie learned lesson and lets bernie bros do the dirty work?

from the snl skit this last weekend

“I don’t know how or why it happened, but I am king of an army of internet trolls called Bernie Bros,” Sanders said. “Could I stop them in their tracks? Of course. Should I? Yes. Will I? Eh. Hillary Clinton says nobody likes me. Let me ask you this, then how come I’m the most popular guy on 4chan?”

shouldn't be up to a President to repair eroding US faith in fellow Americans, but am similarly unable to imagine anybody other than a President capable o' such. Jesus Christ could show up on steps o' the Lincoln Memorial tomorrow calling for all peoples 'cross the globe to set aside their differences and accept the great gifts given to them by the father in the spirit o' universal love and harmony. am having no doubt it would take trump less than a day to go to twitter condemning the second coming as a wimp and a traitor to real christian values. at least 30% o' Americans would agree with trump.

am wanting to believe the divisiveness is a momentary blunder as Americans move forward towards a brighter tomorrow, but we have never been as naive as schiff

https://www.stltoday.com/news/national/schiff-this-year-fewer-people-live-in-freedom-than-before/video_d9ee1152-dc5a-5603-bdba-2dd204e5b6d6.html

have mentioned many times previous, even before the trump Presidency, truth is societies is as capable o' rot as they is o' maturity. work towards hope that next generation will be better than the last is laudable and a worthy goal, but is not a forgone conclusion and will not happen w/o many stepping forward to protect those freedoms we current take for granted. is the reason we is so opposed to activist judges and justices, but am s'posing such is fodder for a different post.

last observation is a recognition o' how extreme taxes on stuff such as alcohol and tobacco has done little to curb American usage. outright bans has been similar failures. those taxes has been good business for organized crime, but has been historical ineffective. consensus regarding deleterious effects o' alcohol, tobacco, junk food and excessive work hours won't stop americans from indulging in products and behaviours regardless o' government attempts to limit. and like it or not, the US is not a european nation. too big and too diverse to analogize simple. we don't even have the possibility o' a national police force here in the US, which means actual implementation o' government restrictions depends on sheriff in some nameless county indiana applying same as a much different police or sheriff department in new york or alabama or california.

HA! Good Fun!

The UK supposedly had a full day of energy production only using renewables (I suspect misreported, actually no fossil fuel usage instead) last year. 100% a gimmick achievement on a low demand day, but they certainly aren't at 90% coal by a long long shot and probably haven't been since the 60s. Nuclear is far more than 3% too, unless something has changed radically in the past few years, though that correctly isn't classed as renewable since it isn't.

According to official UK figures they were at ~25% renewable energy in 2016, and are at ~33% as of 2019(pdf, the ~25% comes from the 2016 edition of the same pub).

The zero emission future is a myth- though it does have to be pointed out that all claims are for zero net emissions which would involve some use of non renewables. There will be a lot of talk about sequestration and planting trees to balance things out, but the whole thing is impractical unless you don't give an asterisk about economics. The great thing about making long term aspirational goals as a politician is of course that there's zero chance that you will be the one having to fulfill them. Last government here made it a goal to have New Zealand 'predator free' by 2050 which would mean killing every stoat/ weasel/ ferret/ rat (cat/ hedgehog/ etc) in an area greater than the British Isles. Utterly unrealistic, but it sounds good...

Natural gas is a lot better environmentally than coal at least. And I'm glad to see at least one article on natural gas that isn't a thinly veiled 'Europe should buy expensive US LNG instead of Russian or ME, please'.

ENTSOG is operating on European Union directives and is made of TSO's which are wholly or partially controlled by governments. Where the "free market" comes in?

Depends if you mean electricity or all power generation, which curiously enough usually shows which agenda is being pushed.
In case of electricity UK actually did a pretty good job.
IIRC the carbon intensity of a kWh has dropped  over 50% thru the last decade.
