Moved on to AC Odyssey. Minor note early on: why does my character run all the time? Is there something in the options menu that allows you to toggle it to walk unless a certain button is pressed?

What platform are you on? I'm playing on Ps4 and my character changes from walk to run depending on how I play with my stick (per usual in a game). Same with the horse in the game.

Same for me. I'm using an XBox Controller. I easily and naturally regulate walking and running using my stick.

I picked up AC Odyssey from steam with the sale which included the season pass. About 7-8 hours in and clearing everything I come across.

I was someone who really enjoyed AC Origins due to the setting and this one for basically the same reasons. Enjoying the items/gear so far and the story has started off pretty decent. Overall pretty happy with it so far.

On the switch, picked up my Skyrim character who is currently level 25 and like seeing the evolution and quality of life differences between the games that’s taken place over time. Have an inch to start a new game of Minecraft but honestly the switch has given me an itch to play a lot of games due to its handheld nature. I really would have loved it if they had released the streaming AC Odyssey here in the US like Japan. That would have been pretty interesting but excited to try out and play some more Dragons Dogma when it comes in April.

Division 2 private beta. Now this is( will be... at least it looks so from the beta) a game where the devs learned the right lessons and used them in the sequel.

Ubisoft might even convince to buy the Ultimate edition. :geek:

I've been playing Borderlands the Pre-sequel and it's okay. It isn't as great as the previous titles, the entire game just feels muffled.

The new weapons types the lazer and cryo weapons are fun to use, and the grinder machine is just another thing that I gladly waste my time tinkering with.

The zero gravity environment can be fun to play jump around in, but it makes combat and movement feel really sluggish and it makes your kills feel less impactful than they should be.

Playing Wandersong right now.

It's one of the most touching games I've ever played. It's not difficult by any means, but the writing is incredibly good with what the developers are working with. The puzzle design is actually pretty good too, the game doesn't really reuse concepts in its puzzles at all.

I might do the same thing. I just feel bad for having skipped the first game, it looked fun.

Tried Monster Hunter: World. Refunded.

It had quite comfortable PC controls, but the inability to pause the game in offline mode was rather odd. And the only available NPC for hunts was my Palico.

The Talos Principle.

It strongly reminds me of Portal, but with more dialogues. So far so good (puzzles, responsive and precise controls, graphics, soundtrack). I don't see storytelling without cut-scenes often, but I enjoy it more.

Still Warframing. The game's like crack - and the worst thing is, from what I've previously played of the game, it just felt extremely repetitive and not particularly interesting. As it turns out, the world is actually interesting enough (including the tidbits of lore the game drops in dialogues, albeit the villains are, so far, just bloody ridiculous), the game is rather varies with a truckton of repeating objectives that you can play infinitely to farm if that's what you're inclined to do (kinda hoping the game won't force farming on me too much, otherwise I'll end up quitting) and the combat is fast, fluid and ridiculously fun - dropping dudes with a pistol from distance as I close in for the kill with a sword is just satisfying af (and since Switch has the amazing motion-controlled aiming adjustments for most of its shooters, I can even be precise with my long-range shooting! Yay!)

Anyway, yeah. I'm doing the second quest in the codex + a few runs of random missions around the map, still sitting on Earth, altho I already fulfill the requirements to move on to Venus. I'm looking forward to getting more weapons (bought a shotgun and automatic pistol to not have to bother with crafting and have at least some selection to start with, and this is one satisfying Mr. Shotty)

So... That's what's happening. I got addicted. Good timing too since I'm stuck doing morning shifts with a fussy baby - which brings me to: Warframe, altho you're an online game, thank you for allowing me to pause you in solo to be able to show the little gal that, indeed, the goddamn pacifier still exists in spite of falling outside of her view range and remind her that catapulting it out of her mouth will not, in fact, allow her to continue devouring it.

That was a pretty long "intro" chapter for AC Odyssey.

Just wait...

It took me forever to uncover the whole map and get all the synchronize spots to get the trophy.

Just what do you think you're doing?! You dare to come between me and my prey? Is it a habit of yours to scurry about, getting in the way and causing bother?

What are you still bothering me for? I'm a Knight. I'm not interested in your childish games. I need my rest.

That intro is like a snowball on Antarctica. I'm not even done exploring the map yet, months later.

I kind of felt reminiscent of White Orchard with W3 as far as time and gameplay. Bumped up to level 16 so far and have just found out about the cult which I think is another good component of gameplay.

I'm not too far into the story or the side quests...

Got my venom outfit with my serpent drip bow. My character turned from a tank/knight to a rogue/archer. I just learned not too long ago that poison doesn't have much impact on enemies health but disables them from doing much damage on your character.

I'm currently level 32, not much into the story yet, just talked to Pythagoras. 60ish hours worth of playing. Most of that was clearing forts and exploring the map. I've killed probably about 12 cultists so far, others have been revealed but are way too far above my level to kill. I did get lucky and take down a level 49 cultist. I'm not sure how that happened, my bow automatically converts normal arrows into poison ones so that helps tremendously. Stacking poison on poison does have affect.

I love how the game has Tomb Raider puzzles as well, not many but the mirror mission was nice and I do enjoy exploring tombs littered with traps and snakes in order to get an extra ability point.

My spear is level 5. I got a trophy for gettng a tier 3 ability. I have killed 75 mercenaries total.

Doing things like killing 100 animals unlocks engravings that you can use to upgrade/customize weapons and armor at a blacksmith shop.

Best thing about the game is that you can play your own way, I'm seeing that more and more. Like IndriaLightfoot said "It's more rpg than Deadfire" and it's true. This is one of those classless rpg's that puts class rpg's to shame.

I'm not going to spoil anything in order to prove that statement is correct though. I think AC Odyseey should have taken rpg of the year instead of Monster Hunter World, imo.

And unlike RDR2, everything is actually rewarding. That is a huge plus to what makes me not get bored. The fact that this is one of those games where grinding doesn't appear or feel like grinding in any sense.

Edit:

I should add that not many games make it a priority for bows to shine. I remember liking bows in Dragons Dogma, Horizon Zero Dawn and Gauntlet, that's about it though. I feel like ny character is a Green Arrow of sorts.

Looking forward to the Civ VI expansion this week.

But atm I'm playing Civ IV. What can be said about this game? It's just amazing, though I'm not supercrazy about some of the additions in Beyond the Sword. Even so, easily my fav game in the series. Never fails to completely suck me in and lose track of the time.

Also playing a bit of Banished. Really love this game as well, been a while since I played it the last time. Another one where it's really easy to lose track of time.

Finished Resident Evil 4. Tried to do Separate Ways, but I just don't like it enough to trudge through that.

I started Resident Evil 5. I already hate it more than RE4, and I've played it before too. At least RE4 had down periods, places that were empty or had only a few Ganados. RE5 is constant waves of enemies until you hit some trigger and they stop spawning. It's the worst parts of RE4 on repeat.

Okay, second worse parts. There's fewer quicktime events.

RE5 made me feel...desolate. The narrative and cutscenes didn't have any weight to them. Both protagonists are a mute.

I still haven't played RE7 but it looks more interesting to me than RE2 Remake. I'm sad that RE2 Remake gets more attention than The Evil Within due to legacy but my heart knows which game is truly better.

What did they change?

Nothing major i think, they just made small improvements i liked. Like no insta heal in combat and combat flows better to. The added specialist weapons that are fun to use. Exploration feels more rewarding so pretty much wandered around the map doing side stuff instead of just focusing on missions.

And mostly their plan for endgame seems to be better thought out. 3 dark zones and only one meant for PVP, so no more insta gank when you arrive somehwere,... and the whole city going to level 32,...

To me it's enough but you'll see plenty of people who don't see anything different other than the setting, so the see it more as another DLC than a "real" sequel.

Continuing my hate of Resident Evil 5

Died 5 times in one section because of chainsaw dudes. They take a ton of ammo, but they're easy to screw around with so I just kept using up all my ammo and then dying to a lucky shot in a tight space.

I used up all my ammo and didn't down the second one. I never saw him go down in all 5 deaths. I'm not sure he was killable. I just moved on with no ammo.

I've always been looking for games where you can actually be an archer without feeling like you're gimping yourself because the combat was primarily designed for melee/magic combat instead. In that case, the game you're describing is on my radar now.

(Also, in the case of Dragon's Dogma, producer Itsuno last week outright said that Capcom already gave him the approval to work on a Dragon's Dogma 2, he just chose to make Devil May Cry 5 first - which heavily hints that DD2 is already in pre-production. When I heard this last week, I got really giddy. I need more Magick Archer in my life.)

Without spoilers, does Kassandra and the dude (forget his name) have the exact same story/missions, or is it a completely different story (or rather, a different take on the same events)?

Yeah, the vast majority of rpg's have that issue. I think it's because devs think not as many players like to play as archer so they either simplify it to where it no longer has any value or treat it as a tacked on afterthought. Thr games of which I mention treat bows and quivers with the same respect as melee. All games should really but I'm glad it's getting better.

And I'm excited to hear that, Dragon's Dogma 2 is welcome here :D

I haven't beat the game yet but know the answer. The quests stay the same but the cultists story changes slightly. That's all I can say.

Not sure if there is a trophy for playing with each character.

I'm still surprised that only 4.7% of players have fully traveled the map. I'm like "really???" Lol The map is bug but not huge, alot of it is water after all.
