Update #99: Announcing the Expansion and Update 2.0
That would make PER a must-pump stat because you'd actually need the extra Accuracy to maintain the same level of power you have now in pre-2.0 games. So that would also turn the "OMG PER is a must-pump stat!" outcry in a self-fulfilling prophecy. I sure hope it doesn't happen. Well, that depends. It could definitely have that effect, but it would really depend on the particular amounts by which they adjust defenses, and whether base accuracy scaling is adjusted with it. They might also boost some defenses but not all on each enemy, giving attacks targeting different ones a greater variety of niches. I dunno, it's complicated, like you say. Mind, I don't know that I think they should increase defenses, but they've sure as hell gotta bring down accuracy if they're gonna drop max deflection by 16-22 points. I don't disagree, although I'd add that those same tradeoffs would - in a perfect world, or at least in my perfect world - exist for cutting a point of any stat from a character of any class. I'd also add that systems like that play to what a lot min-maxers typically want: systems with very intricate, dynamic balance, where you have to carefully weigh your decisions to get exactly what you want for your character in particular. That's not strictly true. Most tank builds want either Might or Con for Fortitude, because Fortitude is a much more common. Fighters in particular benefit from the increased self-healing from a high Might score, since that's really the main reason to use them as tanks. Paladin ubertank builds want something like 15 Might and 18 Con. And Paladin is, at the high end of optimization, simply a Defense better tank, with the ability to reach higher defensive numbers. Mind, I don't dispute that stat balance is a load of bull. The aformentioned ubertank, for instance, drops Dex to 4 and Int to 3 with no meaningful consequences. But it's not quite as straightforward as that.

Update #99: Announcing the Expansion and Update 2.0
So here's a question: if the Perception bonus is changing from Deflection to Accuracy, how is that going to be reflected in enemy statistics? Are we going to see a global increase in defenses and a decrease in Accuracy? Because as-is, this is going to be a pretty significant nerf to Defense tanks (Deflection tanks like paladins in particular will suffer from it) and a pretty significant boost to DPS and debuffers.

A Cruel Party of Martial Dominants
I'm not gonna lie, I saw your thread title and started thinking of BDSM jokes. I'd really use the party's paladin as its main tank, since that's the only thing that Paladins do well. Besides, you should try running a Paladin full tank before 2.0 destroys that concept forever. Of course, since you're not doing PotD, you'll be fine either way. For the Fighter tank: last I checked Rapid Recovery was kind of awful? That might have changed, it's been a while. Also, remember that Fighters in particular probably get at least as much from Might as from Con in tankiness, due to their recovery mechanics. For the melee DPS, you probably want both Savage Attack and Vulnerable Attack. You can use both because of reasons. I'm not sure Armored Grace is worth it, but eh? You might want to go two-weapon with the barbarian, if only because you already have a bunch of two-handers and you might as well get some mileage out of the game's prolific one-handed implements of destruction. Weapon Focus Ruffian is especially good for barbarians (which makes sense), as is Noble (which doesn't). As for the Rogue? Personally, I'd go either full ranged or mixed ranged/melee, with quick switch and guns (ruffian, again, is very good for this). But that's just a matter of personal preference. Monk could make for an interesting sixth man. Monks are fabulous off-tanks.

Is that why they're the only good entries in the EU? Myself being german I think germany is quite a good entry in the European Union. Your mileage may differ, of course. HA! They should call me Mario, because I just got one up'd.

Romance Packs DLC
Well, really, it's not that big a deal if it's in there. Those who have no wish to explore that path with a companion need not click on anything remotely marked as a [flirt] and they will never see the content. There's room for both choices in these games, and that makes them more enjoyable to a wider market. Which isn't to say that only sad and lonely people play games for the romance. Some do like the roleplay aspect and do not self-insert, so it does add to the story and helps indiviuals to possibly relate better to the companions. I only have an issue when that's the only way to do so; friendship content should be available to anyone that earns it, and not just those that are sharing a bedroll. But in a game like this, I still hold with it being better for there to be only minor flirting and a promise to consider more when the bulk of the save-the-world adventure is over. Keep anything else to an epilogue slide. We don't need a fade-to-black sexy cutscenes in every game, I do agree. And it's not a big deal to include a space combat minigame. If you don't wish to explore that path you can simply avoid any option marked as [buy spaceship]. One is genre-appropriate and one isn't. Your syllogism is faulty, yo.

A question of content and closure.
You're not the first person to notice this. The game's pretty inconsistent on whether or not being a Watcher is actually a curse, and in conversation with other party members, you can speculate that it isn't and that Maerwald only went nuts because he had some pretty unusual circumstances. What's really weird is that you see ghosts and whatnot all over the place in the wilderness and Gilded Vale; but in Defiance Bay, where there's supposed to have been a truly preposterous amount of death over the last several centuries? Nothin'.

Romance Packs DLC
I'm in favor of it, as long as the DLC romance in question is with Visas Marr. ... I have a sickness.

No one-handed implements? No Bash as a Talent tree? I am disappoint. That still doesn't explain why they haven't solved the infinite money sink problem. Taxes need to be based on passage of time, and facilities upgrades need to be based on the passage of turns. This does not require a whole ton of dev resources. It's only fitting. What? Okku was the best. Rainbow Bear forever plz Is that why they're the only good entries in the EU?

Best Tank Weapons/Foci
If you must take Weapon Focus for a tank, Peasant stands out for giving you hatchets (the only weapon the increases tankiness) and spears (+accuracy and medium damage will help your offense on the occasions when you need it. But generally, I'd just advise not taking weapon focus for a tank.

[INFO] Synergy of Abilities v1
You should note that 10+ Might is basically obligatory for Moon Godlike who intend for their race to make up for dumping Con. Reflects my own experience. Hell, even before Righteous Soul.

Why doesn't Durance react to Fire Godlikes?
Durance might not believe that fire godlike have anything to do with Magran. It's a common belief in the Dyrwood, but IIRC it's not stated to be religious orthodoxy, and Durance is a pretty heterodox follower anyways.

Wood Elf racial too strong
It's the same thing and it's all relative. If you have 5 races and one race's abilities are a lot stronger than the other 4, some might say that the stronger ability is "too strong", while others might say that the other 4 abilities are "too weak". In the end, it's all relative. I agree. It's absolutely a matter of opinion. I would rather have more stuff (and therefore more complexity and more engagement with the mechanics) than less stuff. That's because I tend to believe that "stuff = interesting." That's a personal taste, and I apologize if my earlier post came across as an attempt to state objective fact.

Wood Elf racial too strong
Opposite problem: 80% of the racials are too weak. You're thinking about the wrong kind of balance. Multiplayer games require competitive balance, so that they have a larger and more interesting metagame. Single player games, on the other hand, need internal balance, so that players have relative freedom in taking the options that appeal to them without suffering consequences they weren't informed of. The difference between easy mode and hard mode shouldn't be they player's choice between several options that are presented as equally viable. I see this over and over again, "stop trying to balance everything, it's not multiplayer!" It's not about multiplayer, it's about new players. It's about not requiring in-depth knowledge to know which options are objectively better choices for a huge majority of situations. Unbalanced choices aren't my thing, but there's nothing deeply problematic about them; the problem lies in unbalanced choices that advertise themselves as balanced. And honestly, if you don't care about balance, why does it matter to you that other people do?

Dyrford Village - extraordinary positive vs moderate negative?
And yet if I kill him, I get MAJOR negative in Defiance Bay... A single major negative penalty won't even drop you down from neutral.

Barbarians, reach weapons and int
I've seen people make the claim that Int 15 is adequate for a tanky Barbarian, but for a pure offensive type, definitely max it out. Hey, paladins need resolve for deflection! After all, ridiculous defenses are the only thing they do well. :/

MOON-SIZED plot hole - "Supply and Demand" quest
To make that fly, you'd have to edit the conversation with the harassing thugs, who are from the Dozens. They blame Maea for increasing prices, so that only nobles can afford them. They feel everyone deserves a visit in a whorehouse. They say absolutely nothing of having to do it with a dwarf, elf, or aumaua. They're mad because her prices have gone up. Her prices have gone up because squash seed prices have gone up. She needs squash seeds because some of the clientele want to hire female prostitutes of their own species. Presumably she's spreading the cost out, which raises prices overall. I'm not saying it's flawless logic, but it's so easy to explain away that I think you can safely suspend your disbelief.

MOON-SIZED plot hole - "Supply and Demand" quest
I think you are overestimating how much relevance this issue has to the real world, just like people in this thread are generally underestimating how diverse human sexual tastes are in the real world. It's not so much racism as it is underestimation of the human drive to bonk anything and everything. As for those who are doing the underestimation, I'd like to remind you that most people with Western European heritage have Neanderthal DNA. That said, there are definitely individuals whose relatively narrow sexual tastes are confined to those similar to themselves in appearance, for reasons no more sinister or complicated than individual preference. So there would undoubtedly be customers exclusively interested in people of their own species, and turning them away would be bad for the Salty Mast's business. Thus, it's probably important to have squash seeds on hand, even if some of the clientele is happy to do the interspecies tango. Now - can we please have one thread related to sex that doesn't explode into some drama-fueled flamefest?

MOON-SIZED plot hole - "Supply and Demand" quest
Elves and humans, yes. Maybe dwarves if you don't mind the height difference (many do). But good luck convincing an average human girl to sleep with a midget covered in fur. Or a human guy to get a blowjob from a lady with shark teeth. You clearly haven't spent much time on the internet.

Salty Mast whores hirelings in Caed Nua?
If you sleep with one and have Dex 19 and Con 19, the offer will be extended. There's no particular reason to aim for this - you can't get the sex bonus at Caed Nua, and they behave exactly like any other hireling, providing a +2 prestige bonus. They don't even leave the Salty Mast. Instead, they just appear in both places.

[Paladin Build] Tea Time for Board and Sword
Reasonable, easy-to-use party build. Good job. That said, I really strongly disagree with the decision to take Envenomed Strike. That should go on a more offensive character - you should have Cautious Attack on this guy. There's also a very strong case for Wild Orlan as an alt to Pale Elf. I'd slash it in.
