  1. Maybe that's the case, but if so why? They aren't using D&D so level 9 spells didn't have to be the highest level: they could have gone to level 10. Having the progression change at level 13 just seems inelegant to me: like they were running out of good spell and ability ideas and/or budget to do the GFX for them. It doesn't bother me much: it'll allow me to fill in missed options a bit. It just seems odd.
  2. It sounds like Obsidian didn't really want to go past level 18 but were forced to go to 20 by the stretch goals. Solution: stretch the later levels a bit.
  3. They did the same with a certain Soulbound Dagger in PoE: it was very powerful on Barbs but merely good on everyone else so they nerfed it: making it good on Barbs and not good on everyone else. No I'm not bitter, what makes you ask

  5. Yep. Barbarians are looking to be very good at the moment. That'll probably be my first play through now.
  6. Citzal's Armoury gives you two summoned weapons and a summoned breastplate, though it gave no details of what weapons or what their enchantments are. I think the selling point is meant to be that it has the potential to be permanent i.e. outright kill the enemy. Not sure that's worth as much as Obsidian are suggesting it is, but that's presumably why it's level 9.
  7. Huh that's odd. I thought you got a new power level at each odd character level (assuming single class) so PL N would be at CL 2N-1 i.e. PL 9 would be at CL 17.
  8. This is true. Also I'm super hyped for Spiritual Ally and Incarnate so I can forgive the nerf. I love summons and there are a lot more in Deadfire it seems.
  9. It's available at level 7 so yes? It doesn't seem to have an upgrade either so you're not missing out on a better version of it (Sacred Immolation has upgrades for example).
  10. Minor Avatar has received a nerf. Instead of adding +8 to all Attributes it gives all six of the lowest tier Inspirations (so +5). I don't mind that it gives less of a bonus to each Attribute, but by using the Inspirations rather than straight up bonuses it won't stack on top of existing Inspirations. Yep. They stated that they weren't going to change it sadly.
  11. No worries, just thought I should warn you (and others) in case. Someone on these forums recently discovered the main plot hook for Deadfire in an interview and considered that a spoiler so different people have different tolerances. I'm on the other end of the spectrum and am watching Cohh's stream, though I'll probably stop just because watching a game like PoE played isn't that much fun for me. He sped through the abilities and I missed a bunch so I can't say about the twins. The idea is you'll be able to pause watch his YouTube upload later (which I will be doing). Fighter high level abilities didn't immediately jump out at me, but I haven't had time to digest them and can't currently remember what they were.

  16. True, but with ships it's not uncommon to use adjectives that way: see HMS Invincible and HMS Indefatigable.
  17. Playing is an exaggeration. I'll spend ages looking at the ability trees for the various classes trying to decide what I want to play. I'll then play through the tutorial before changing my mind.
  18. Some people would pay good money for that sort of weight loss. You should market it: 'the holiday to Uzbekistan and 30lbs* weight loss plan' :D *The number is bigger in pounds and Americans are likely to be a big part of your market.
  19. Dexterity is an important attribute for Priests because, like all of the "Vancian"* casters their power is directly proportional to how quickly they can vomit their spells. This applies to buffing as well since you want to get all your buffs cast asap so that you can move onto damage dealing (which Priests are very good at). There's a reason that all four Priest builds in the PoE character builds list have Dexterity 16 or higher. Yes, with Minor Avatar and Aggrandising Radiance Priest's can get +10 Dexterity relatively quickly at the start of combat, but Dexterity has a relatively modest diminishing returns and it's absolutely worthwhile to start with 18+ Dexterity if you can. This isn't to say Durance is bad. He's not. However a Priest Watcher with high Dexterity will be a lot more powerful (this is one of the few situations where I'd say Attributes actually make a fair bit of difference in PoE). Agreed. Priests have the potential to be amazing damage dealers if you want them to be. *Obligatory "they're not technically Vancian" comment.
  20. What makes you think Eothas is motivated by revenge? Or to get more to the point, have you seen the character quotation Josh tweeted regarding Eothas? It casts that theory into doubt. I haven't seen the quote. What is it? "You do not need to follow me, for their sake or your own. Something beautiful is coming, something that will save us all." - Eothas
  21. I believe Josh said little to no banter, so some presumably will have some banter. Moreover each has a unique portrait, a unique in game model and a unique voice set. Not a huge thing but it might tip the balance.
  22. Not that I know of. I doubt they'll be true post end of game content* but whether they're specifically end game content or are spread over a range of levels is purely speculation at this point. *By this I mean areas you can only access once you've beaten the main boss of the game.
  23. Very cool Gairnulf. I've been thinking I might want to have a go at modding Deadfire to be as close as possible to Pillars (mechanics wise) so this will be very useful.
