I find that small shields are better than large shields. The talent, "weapon and shield style" gives you the same bonus no matter what kind of shield you choose, but the DP penalty of using a shield is minimized when using a small shield.

It COULD have been an excellent continuation if it had been BG3 instead of an expansion since Bioware would have more time to flesh it out. The problem with ToB was that it was wasted potential. so do the ai go to the nearest character, or go for the first attacker, or the highest damage dealer? the latter is probably the most problematic, if i use my warrior to lure the mooks to attack him, and i throw fireball spell, and deal alot of damage, they will change the target to the caster? or it will stick to the first that we aggro'd? if so, then caster will really have clear advantages in a group. you just have to keep the tank alive, and other just attack, and watch out for new spawning enemies that we haven't aggro'd. Once the enemies are engaged with your fighter they aren't going anywhere. The Engagement mechanic will make sure of that.

ToB is easily the worst part of the Baldur's Gate Saga. Even worse; it's existence killed any chance of a proper BG3. So happy to see that this expansion will not be like that. I'd sooner see PoE have no expansion at all than one like ToB.

I'll be interested to see what "The Rageaholic" thinks of PoE after release as I tend to have the same tastes in video games as him.

Chanters are really good if you build them as a tank, because they only really need to be able to cast invocations. I just made a defensive Chanter last night and it worked like a charm. Kana Rua is a chanter, and apparently beefy. Chanter tanks are boss!

It can be done without meta gaming even on hard if the beta is an indicator. Just exploit the system and it should be possible to solo the game even on hard. So your goal sounds easy to me.
