I've said before that if the opponent is too weak compared to you then you shouldn't receive XP for it. This solves the, "kill everyone for 1 xp a piece" issue, and the "grind endlessly on weak mobs" issue. I am not talking about XP. I am talking about when combat has a meaning behind it. Meaning other than "I need to kill it for XP". What is wrong with, "I need to kill it for XP" as a meaning exactly? It's just as meaningful as any motive. The limitation you provide is arbitrary and needlessly restricting of people's enjoyment of the game. XP in itself is stupid way to grow a character. Why I learn something after fighting an arbitrary number of Ogres? XP is a fun abstraction. If you don't like XP; I'd suggest you not play an RPG, but rather something without that stupid XP.

SLOWED RECOVERY WHILE MOVING - NO THANKS
Namutree replied to Sensuki's topic in Backer Beta Discussion
This mechanic is a bad addition and also a noob trap. Noobie player: Man, my rogue's attacks are takin' forever; why are the rogues so friggin' slow to attack again? *doesn't know that moving his rogue in combat is wrecking his DPS.* Noobie: Rogues SUCK!!! This game's classes are imbalanced, my wizard has better attack speed than my crappy, slow, and useless rogue. *The noob dies because he moves too much in combat which wrecks his DPS.* Noobie: This game is so confusing! This sucks! *rage quits* I suggest this mechanic is taken out. Let's keep in mind that the game has no indicator that movement slows recovery time. Noobs will not understand why it's happening. Between this and engagement; noobs are in for a baaaad time. -
Actually the combat should generate no reward on its own. The point is not to attack everything in sight (although it's definitely possible to do so), but engage in combat when it's meaningful for some reason. XP has no relation to what is "meaningful", XP is an abstraction for growth. Growth comes from over coming challenges; not doing things "meaningful". When I kill the deadly Ogre; my character should grow from rising up to the challenge; whether I did it for some farmer's pigs should have no bearing on that. Every reason for action is valid. If I killed an Ogre for fun cuz my PC is a crazy jerk; that's valid. If I killed an Ogre because my PC want's to sharpen his/her combat skills' that's valid. If I killed an Ogre because my character stumbled upon the Ogre and thinks it might hurt people if I let it live; that's valid. Yet the only way I'll get experience for killing the Ogre (besides some measly beastiary xp) is if I present it to some random farmer? That's dumb. Why does helping the farmer help my PC grow?

The "why" means nothing. XP should be awarded for over-coming a challenge. "mindless slaughter" can still be challenging, and you should be awarded XP to reflect that. There is nothing lost by allowing players to be rewarded for being successful in combat. There is no "reduction", the only way things are reduced is if features are taken out or marginalized; which kill XP doesn't do. Solving quests becomes no less meaningful simply because there are other ways of obtaining XP.

Anyone can wear armor and yes, DEX's value is directly tied to whether or not you're using armor. The less armor you have, the more often you attack. The more you attack the more you gain from the boost in attack speed. Knockdown is instant, but how long they stay down (and thus prone) is based on your INT. So yes, INT is good for every class. Nobody gets interrupted much and being interrupted isn't that big a deal anyway. It doesn't cancel your spell/ability if you were interrupted while using it; it simply delays the said spell/ability. EDIT: Interrupt does force a spell or ability to need to be re-used, but it isn't considered "lost" like it would in say, an IE game. Also interrupt ends engagement, but that's not a big deal really.

Tetra did help link fight Ganondorf in Windwaker. She's perfectly strong; she just really should have stayed in the castle since only the wielder of "The Master Sword" can defeat Ganon. Samus is a badass; I mean, just check out this cool picture of her:

Look at her and laugh. There you have an imbecille with an opinion of a fool talking about things she cannot comprehend. I think I've heard of Samus. Actually, I know all these characters.

White People: What They Say in Public vs Behind Closed Doors

They're still pretty ****ty. Oh. What's wrong with them? It seems my view of them is based on old and inaccurate memories. -

I don't think banning abortion is inherent to socialism either. I have already stated that I am aware that some socialist keep it strictly economical. Rather that taking something private and putting it under collective control is socialistic. -

Source? You know what. I'll have to admit that I made a mistake here by claiming that the "American Communist Party" said this. My bad. It was a mistake I made while researching the abortion issue in the past. I misread my source, a book called, "Issues: Abortion" which is in a line of books from the 90's that cover a range of political issues from the perspective of various ideologies including Nazi's, KKK groups, Feminists, Democrats, Republicans , and yes, Communists regarding various political issues. While looking for that piece online I've read some of the parties' views of abortion which doesn't jive with what I claimed about them. Found the book and re-read it (the Communist part) just to be sure. It seems that I foolishly interpreted certain lines. When taken into proper context some of their lines have a different meaning than how I took them back then. They are pro-reproduction rights, even in the long term. I completely take back the quoted statement. It seems I should re-evaluate my perception of the American Communist Party... Man, a few years ago I must have been tired or something... I got that 100% wrong. I hate it when I misunderstand something I read! Oh well, we all make mistakes, or at least I do. I can't be SURE everyone makes mistakes. -

I said that I think banning abortion is socialistic which is not the same as saying it's socialist specifically, but rather that it seems like the kind of thing socialists would be inclined to do. Uhm. Why? I mean... Since socialism is traditionally tied to atheism, why would they ban abortion? Abortion is usually banned on religious grounds. Does not compute. -Sigh- Let me guess, you're going to bring up the nazi's again, aren't you? Go ahead and check out South America to see how "atheist" the socialist are there. Though I wouldn't trust non-religious socialists to be a vanguard of reproductive rights considering the American Communist Party (not a highly religious bunch) has stated before that taking collective control over women's reproduction was a long-term goal. I can't say what Marxists parties are like abroad, but the one's here in the US are real douches. But why does it strike me as socialistic specifically? Because I tend to view socialism as a system of collective control over society; some keep it purely economical, but many if not most don't and demand collective control over well... everything. I do consider it suggesting that personal property belongs to everyone if everyone has a say over what a woman does with her own body. -

The wiki is useless and out dated. Now moving on: MIG: Useful for any build focusing on DPS. Obviously so... Not much to say here. CON: Useful mostly for classes with high health and endurance since it raises by percent rather than integer. A must for any tank build. DEX: The value of DEX changes depending on what kind of build you're using. If you're not using armor than your recovery time between attacks is very low and the value of DEX is high as you'll be attacking more often. Also, DEX also increases how quickly you'll drink potions and what-not so it has defensive value as well as offensive value. PER: Perception right now is a little under-powered; it can be useful against enemies with slow attacks (since interrupting a slow but powerful attack is helpful), but it needs a minor buff. The deflection bonus it has can also be useful for tanks as deflection is the most important defense stat. INT: It's pretty dang good, and nearly every build should use it. Most classes take advantage of either it's AoE effect or it's ability duration boost. RES: The worst attribute in my opinion. Like PER it needs a boost. Only useful for certain tank builds. The concentration bonus is basically meaningless and Obsidian really needs to buff the concentration bonus by +1. The only value it has it that it grants a deflection bonus and a will bonus.

Cancel that cuz' I got pwned by auto-attack. I guess I forgot to turn it off. It got me pwned by beetles.

Obviously to him they are. Seeing opinions he doesn't agree with clearly bothers him. No need to push him into doing something he doesn't want to do. -
Got pwned by some serious BS. I was a rogue using a disappearing ability (can't remember it's name) in order to get away from some beetles when for no friggin' reason my stupid rogue attacked a beetle; ending the ability and getting me killed. It was going so well too. That's what I get for forgetting to turn off auto-attack.

Namutree replied to ktchong's topic in Way Off-Topic
Never said that. I considered it socialistic as it suggests collective ownership of people's bodies. Was going to say this is the dumbest thing I've read all day but then I got to the Nazi sympathizing. Only just hopped on and I've already had enough Off-Topic for one day. Thanks for the update. -
I ain't doin' no wussy diplomacy an' sneakin' all round. Ima just walk right up to my foes, look em' right in the eye, spit in their face, say, "I'm better than you", and I'll kill the poor unfortunate souls that get in my way. Plus, I'll do it all in one try cuz' that's how I roll.

I don't know how to stream or whatever the young people are doin' nowadays. I have killed Medrith and his crew. The hardest part was dealing with that horrible, worthless, disgusting excuse for a friggin' BOAR. Here's a picture of my poor teammates' fate:

Here are the settings.

Triple Crown Solo I guess.

I'll be going for the "Triple Crown" as Anaeme described it. I've already solo'd hard mode, but can I conquer this challenge? Probably, I ain't no noob.
