Romance, Marriage, Pregnancy and having Children.
I admit, I was a bit disturbed that BGII:ToB went with the baby inventory item route. It seemed wrong on several levels.

Could be, but then again I didn't like the narration aspect as a whole and in general if they were trying for an unreliable narrator they failed, IMO.

How "grindy" will the game be?
I dunno, I didn't reload when I got bad rolls on Wild Magic either (unless it killed me). Seemed to miss the point of "random event".

What's on the idiot box...
Yeah my edition of the uncut STAND could easily stop a bullet. Bit bulky in the shirt breast-pocket as opposed to a handy cigarillo case though...

What about if you love the original Lone Ranger? You have to put aside the memories of Clayton Moore (and, for that matter, Klinton Spilsbury, but you probably did that already). Personally accepting that its a new take on the character I thought it mostly enjoyable and yet with some elements that just fall flat (not terribly surprising considering the script - like Spilsbury's LEGEND - had been revised numerous times). IMO:

The Kickstarter Thread
Hmm, looking through a list of Sierra On-Line games, I'd have thought I'd have played more of them.

Best Police in the World
That's happened here in some local jurisdictions. Funnily, in almost every case that comes to mind it was later revealed that the higher-ups were engaged in criminal activities. Again this is why, IMO, we have to be open about cops doing things wrong but also not blaming "cops" in general for every wrong thing ever done by a cop.

The vast majority of cops ARE us and know it. Sure there are those that have the us vs them mentality, but that's why its important to shine a light on them too. That said...a person driving with a broken headlight is stopped and found to be driving on a suspended license. So there's already suspicious activity to warrant some concern. That doesn't justify trying to "scare" her or not following usual protocols (which I gather wasn't to have the woman flip her bra up). Again the bad cops need to be weeded out; but pointing to every instance that a bad cop does something bad and say "This is why cops are outta control!" only promotes the us vs them view of society in non-cops and cops alike.

Why would they immediately jump you? Even if they thought you were some other guy? I've seen police follow people because they thought they were suspicious - some of it even racial profiling. But none of them just jumped a person without trying to stop them and talk to them (even if it starts with a loud "STOP" or smthng).

I disagree with their ability to do that, I don't think its a "loophole" as described in the article so much as thumbing their nose at the law. Eventually someone will challenge it legally and I can't imagine it passing muster. That said, if you're not doing anything illegal...what can they get you on?

Never known a cop to promote that mentality. That doesn't mean if you're between them and a killer you won't have footprints up your back, but there's always the needs of the individual vs the community to balance out. Been stopped a few times by cops. Never had a problem with answering questions. If you're not doing anything illegal...what can they get you on?

The third amendment, the one that we thought wasn't really relevant anymore. Just got discarded
I read this bit and imagined the constitution with "like" buttons by the amendments. The problem is this is the same line of thinking that causes cops to protect other bad cops. That tarnishing one of them tarnishes them all. No, being open and honest about your dealings with the public, investigating and - if necessary - taking action against cops who go too far will only tarnish the image of the police in the eyes of those who'll never trust the police. They're not all brutes; but the system shouldn't protect those that are, either.

RANDOM VIDEO GAME NEWS
Well there appears to be 100+ hairstyles and some returning SR2 cars. Wouldn't be surprised to see more tats. Outter/inner clothes (separate shirt and coat) seems to still be out, though.

RANDOM VIDEO GAME NEWS
I know, I'm bummed that it seems the Russian female voice isn't coming back, unless they're getting someone other than Tara Platt to do it. The prospect of a female American President with a thick Russian accent had me feeling all sorts of tingly inside. The "Southern Belle" voice better be a super over the top southern drawl to make up for it. I used the Latina voice for my primary character in SR2 and 3, so it'll be a big difference without that voice for me. (I'll probably just assume that she was chopped in the throat in a fight and her accent changed or something that fits the setting ) So far the information (no clue on accuracy, but it seems to be fairly accepted knowledge on the SRIV forums) is that the third voice is French (giving us Normal (Bailey), French and Southern Belle).

Man, if what I'm reading on other forums, Laura Bailey is the only returning female voice for SRIV.

Lol at the voiceover. How many times were they going to go for "day" in that opening sentence?

I was considering pledging - I didn't because I don't have the money for it - but I didn't know (because I didn't back Broken Age, I guess, so not up on the pulse of that game development).

Are we getting the PE we were led to believe was on the horizon during the KS?
Really? Wow I guess that shows how much I used per day abilities in the IE games. My point was that if cooldowns allow the mimicking of the effect of rest spamming; if some resting is still in for rest-restored powers is there a need to have the ability to rest spam (because the problem seems to keep cropping up - unless I'm misunderstanding - is that they're looking at a system where the player is not allowed to rest wherever they want as many times as they want). Right, I agree with you that gamers will find ways to game the system, regardless of the system. It doesn't matter if its D&D or Dragon Age or Monopoly. I just don't agree that because of that fact there's no need to think about the systems you're creating and whether there are ways to not encourage unintended consequences or behaviors - particularly since they're building this from the ground up and can consider whether having the player press a button or wait or reload saves is fun. Right now with cooldowns they run the risk of encouraging wait spamming; my understanding is that they're trying to address that by balancing per-encounter and at will powers to keep spell-classes useful each battle and putting less emphasis on waiting to be at full power every encounter. Will it work? Dunno. But I'm not necessarily adverse to them trying (I'll confess the inventory stuff I have a harder time wrapping my head around but am still willing to give the benefit of doubt until we see how it works in the game).

RANDOM VIDEO GAME NEWS
I'm not saying its not understandable a game could go over budget. I just don't think that they woke up on July 2 and realized they were over budget. Which means they intentionally held discussing it in public so it wouldn't impact their other kickstarter, Massive Chalice, despite the fact that backers of that project might have been very interested in knowing that Broken Age was having problems before backing Massive Chalice.

So, Project Eternity will have cooking
Heh, when I first read this, I didn't suss PITA as an acronym, I thought gfted was making a weird reference to pita bread.

Are we getting the PE we were led to believe was on the horizon during the KS?
Assuming a day/night cycle, how about.... the passage of time itself, and whatever in game consequences/effects come along with it, including healing. And/or the fatigue system if PE ends up having one. Did the day-night cycle in the old IE's ever matter much? I honestly don't remember. The fatigue system in the IE games wasn't my favorite aspect (I loved having my party travel to a location and arrive fatigued because they're apparently too stupid to camp - even better when you entered a random combat fatigued. Sure you could stop off at a city on the way (IF you've unlocked it) but even then there were some locations that IIRC in BGII were always a day away). Regarding healing, since they seem to be looking at a two part system (health-stamina), I think resting strategically will be important, but it won't necessarily be important after every battle (and particularly it won't be necessary after every battle if you want to keep you mage useful - the incentive for rest spamming in IE games).
