  1. If you claim it from the giveaway thread you can always use the "...well, I was given that game..." defense.
  2. AFAIK, there were earlier films that used the techniques seen in Kane prior to Wells (some of it in the German Expressionists who influenced everybody). So it wasn't as inventive as it was transformative; as it helped form the language of cinema into a recognizable whole.
  3. And then some! Ive also never seen: Gone With the Wind, Casablanca, Its a Wonderful Life, Citizen Cane, etc. *runs* "Kane"
  4. Current Avatar: Elsa Lanchester

  5. CNN is reporting his death confirmed by a spokesperson for the family.
  6. CBS is reporting that Tom Petty has passed away after suffering cardiac arrest: https://www.cbsnews.com/news/tom-petty-legendary-rocker-is-dead-at-66/?linkId=43025457 This video was always memorably trippy:
  7. I think (and am no expert) that a true Toby Jug would need to be a jug (ie have a spout designed for pouring, often in the form of a tricorn hat) and be designed with a seated figure (or alternatively, the head of a king). I think the monk would just be a "character mug".
  8. Its because CBS is launching their own streaming service, and they want to encourage sign-ups for that service by grabbing the one group that has always been expected to follow their show where-ever it goes: Star Trek fans.
  9. I was a bit surprised about people not groking dotard as well. But then I enjoy learning new words (I sometimes post here when I do).
  10. Didn't something like that bugger up the hd release of Buffy, the tried to convert the original 4:3 to 16:9 and messed up the scene structure, plus the original effects were over compensated digitally. If the TV show wasn't shot native in 16:9, they end up cropping a 4:3 at the top and bottom which can stuff up framing (very noticible in close-ups) and show a lot of grain on effects shots since they get processed multiple times - as I understand it. Babylon 5 suffers from this (and weirdly too, as allegedly it was shot in 16:9, but instead of going back and remastering the original negatives, they took the TV image and cut it down). I think Buffy might encounter a similar problem (particularly as, I don't think the early seasons were shot for wide-screen). Not to mention all that work for The Motion Picture of all things. I'm that rare person who actually likes TMP though...IMO there can't be enough minutes devoted to lovingly panning up and down the model of the Enterprise. I keed, I keed - I do like TMP but sometimes its despite itself.
  11. Given that this thread has been several pages of the same territory as the political thread and we already have a political thread, I'm closing this thread in favor of the existing thread.
  12. They're in Georgia, Kentucky, Tennessee, Maryland, Mississippi, Virginia, West Virginia and Alabama in addition to the Carolinas.
  13. As I understand it, the order for print is master negative for the film (the one that is used to make the master interpositive), the master interpositive (that's used to make the master positive) or the master positive. As long as one has managed to escape vinegar sydrome, you can probably make a pretty decent print of the film. After that you get workprints (a positive made without an interpositive), video editing screeners, etc. If all else fails, you bung whatever you got into whatever conversion/editing suit you have, do the best you can and put a note before the film letting the audience know that the master is missing and this is the best you can do picture wise. One thing to be careful of, is that there are a number of cases of modern analog to digital film transfers stuffing up "day for night" shots by auto correcting them back to day. Awkward. An example of the analogue vs digital - Paramount rereleased all of the original Star Trek films on BluRay, but they didn't re-release the "Director's cut" of The Motion Picture - because the special effects were all digitally done and would need to be completely redone for BluRay but the original film release required no additional work.
  14. Can't they just hold the phone in front of your phase and yell "boo!"?
  15. http://www.latimes.com/local/obituaries/la-me-len-wein-20170913-story,amp.html Rip Len Wein, comic book writer. He was the writer who created Swamp Thing for DC and Wolverine for Marvel
  16. FWIW, I seem to recall you can create an overweight female Boss in Saints Row 2 (can't really recall character creation for 3 & 4 since I spent my time trying to recreate my SR2 Boss). EDIT: I should add, its the only game that I can recall allowing for making a really obese PC (male or female).
  17. Glad you got power back!
  18. Have power and coincidently (?) Cell phone signals again. Huzzah! Only a day and a half without.
  19. I got Wanda Maximoff You're Wanda Maximoff! You're mysterious and able to manipulate people into doing what you want. You had a tough life, but you're ready to make up for your past.
  20. Hulk is a fruit pie kind of guy. Kind of reminds me of Tim Cain's comments on odds / statsitical chance vs 'feel' that were discussed in another thread somewhere.
  21. Multi-classes do have names (although I do not believe all are known yet) and as far as I know multi-class is limited to 2 classes.
  22. Since this reminder has not been heeded, I am closing this thread. If you wish to discuss this topic seriously those interested may create another thread, but if any new thread continues to spend significant portions of its discussion space on off-topic posts and/or posts that are specifically discussing other posters, their motivations, their psychology, their user-name, their avatar, their posting style, their word choice, their grasp of the English language, etcetera, it too shall be locked.
  23. I mentioned it because Clark Howard mentioned it.
  24. Equifax apparently set up a website with information and a way to see if you're in the effected group.
