  7. My memory fails me then (I actually didn't remember how they got through to the ship).
  8. My guess is that weaponized FTL only works if you catch the enemy without their shields up - the First Order thought the Rebels were running until the last minute, when they thought the ship was turning to fight so they didn't keep picking off the escape ships. The bombs had to have been magnetic or guided towards an energy source in some fashion; I'd guess the ship design was such so that you didn't accidentally bomb your own ships. At least that's how I took it.
  9. Condolences to you, LC.
  10. I am very certain I have games on my list only I voted for. Ditto. Then again I knew that going into it that there were going to be some that I'd probably be the only person who voted for it.
  11. Current Avatar: Loretta Young

  12. Dirty Harry and Magnum Force are interesting thrillers; very much a product of the seventies. Can't remember much of The Enforcer. Sudden Impact and The Dead Pool are interesting as well. I'm not sure they've aged well (haven't seen them in years).
  13. That's not what 'These Boots Are Made For Walking' is about.
  14. Oldest game I played was Atari's home version of Pong or Arcade Space Invaders in ~1978. I'd find a screenshot, but I don't think they were invented back then.
  15. STAR WARS: THE LAST JEDI Overall I liked it. Some random spoilery observations:
  16. Battle of the Planets: Star Blazers:
  17. Johnny Quest: Wacky Races:
  18. The Persuaders! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ySELQT4dljU "High Wire" the Danger Man 2nd series UK Theme by Edwin Astley (there's a 45 version, but I like the credit version better):
  19. The Prisoner: Peter Gunn:
  20. See that makes no sense to me. There is no good reason a student ID, or even a library card would not suffice. You don't need to prove residency, You've already done that when registering to vote. The only thing they should have to prove is that the name on their ID and the name on the ballot are the same. If you're really going to want to check a photo ID for accuracy, you'd actually want a photo ID that also contained a signature, that you'd check and match against the signature of the voter when they sign in as well as checking for signs of tampering or just being unauthentic. Most student ID's don't seem to be that difficult to mimic if one has the right equipment.
  21. Predictive Text Keyboard by Botnik fed all of the Harry Potter novels, comes up with a chapter for "Harry Potter and the Portrait of What Looked Like a Large Pile of Ash" - http://www.botnik.org/content/harry-potter.html
  22. You'd need some additional people to act as voters - someone to claim the ballots for the 1000 names of people still on the rosters who aren't voters in that district. Most places attempt to purge voter rosters of people not in the district, but that can also create problems as there have been accusations of political parties 'accidentally' purging people from the rosters who just happen to vote for the opposing party/parties. Also reminded me there's the "tries to vote in multiple locations" voter which is usually countered by tying your ability to vote to a specific location but used to be a big problem. 'Vote early and vote often' as its called.
  23. Actually, there isn't. And there probably should be. If your registration is valid and you go to your assigned poll there will be a ballot there with your name on it. You sign for it and fill it out. That's pretty much it. No one has ever asked me to prove I'm who I say I am. We have to show state ID here locally, but there's a big stink over it as advocates say that it disenfranchises the poor and elderly who may not have the money to purchase a state ID or the transportation to get to place where you can get one made at. That said even in the states without ID laws the problem - as I understand it - is less about someone voting as Guard Dog instead of him and more about voter roles not being purged of voters no longer in the district (through moving out or death) and someone voting for these people who are still on the books but shouldn't be. Or weird scenarios such as the current claim of the losing candidate for Atlanta's mayor saying that a section of Fulton county that Atlanta tried to annex voted in the election despite the fact that the state supreme court ruled the annexation invalid.
