  1. I may have misjudged the situation. Let's put it like this. At times, the game slows down significantly, putting my framerate at "pretty damn low", but not "absolutely crippled". If I at this point close PoE and play another game, that game is also affected. A reboot fixes it (I haven't known anything else to work), but I don't know why it happens to begin with... I'm thinking tabbing out has something to do with it. Anyway, when the game is slow in this way, Defensive Mindweb becomes the coup de gras. If this hasn't happened, then the spell doesn't affect my framerate at all. So DM is not really to blame, but I can't get really get very specific about what is.
  2. Fourth panel, ignore the speech bubbles: http://www.cad-comic.com/cad/20080104 Perhaps this works out as a strong character, but it's miles off the rogue fantasy for me. A rogue should be handling danger by being cunning, not by being durable. Abilities such as Shadowing Beyond are great, but 2/rest? No no.
  3. I'm not really getting 1v1's, but right now I don't see him winning those either. He joins the fray. N enemies realize he's the squishiest target and attack him. Good riddance. Swarmed like Heodan. Having a blast with a different party though, essentially the same minus rogue plus barbarian. It's the first melee party I've had that's actually done something better than the Vancian squad did it.
  4. What difficulty are you playing? I always feel like my rogues get neutralized the moment enemies decide to target them. They'll lose the toe to toe fight, and if they try to escape the disengagement attack devastates them.
  5. So if I want to have a paladin in my party right now, I can 1) have it not be my Watcher and 2) ignore its favored/disfavored dispositions without in any way shooting myself in the foot?
  6. You people praising the class balance gotta tell me how to make melee rogue shine. I can't even go as far as to say I've made it work. I quickly get frustrated and return to team Vancian T-Shirt Brigade.
  7. As irony would have it, the adventure for those boots opened up when I completed The Rising Tide. Nevertheless, there's been useful input here. I'd all but forgotten about Withdraw during my absence from this game. Cheers!
  8. 15 Pretty much all I guess, save some of the new midlevel ones No (but he does have Into The Fray) Yeah, but I'd have to bend over backwards to level it up (paladin has it)
  9. These guys require disproportionate amounts of caution and resources out of me, or rather often reloads. Plain and simple, they decide to teleport to my backline and I have a few seconds to disable them before they knock 1-2 characters out (with Rooting Pain or something). I've never been fond of playing monks so if this method has some innate weakness, I don't know of it. My party is: Paladin (watcher), warrior (both tanks), druid, priest, cipher, wizard. While Crushing Doom works wonders, the monks aren't exactly rare and I can't respond with that every time I see one. Please advise.
  10. I can't recall what my graphics were set to originally, but dragging the slider all the way to the left did not solve the issue. For that matter, I didn't really notice the graphics getting worse either... Anyway, as the topic says, this lovely spell makes my game extremely slow, and that's going from smooth. I've searched for the issue several times, thinking I can't be alone, but all the searching has made me feel very alone. So take my DxDiag and work your magic. DxDiag.txt
  11. Going to chime in that I had this happen to me as well, against ogres in the EP. I don't have a prior save, just saying it's probably not dragon-related. My fighter is now permanently invisible and can't be targeted by anything yada yada. I'm glad the patch is seemingly going to stop it from happening, but can I make him visible again somehow? He's a very odd kind of tank right now... He's cured on the beta. Rejoice
  12. Your diplomatic reputation went up a notch... Anyway, if you are going to play your wizard in a party you don't need to meddle with this melee-mage thing one bit. Maybe not even for solo - I don't play solo so I can't comment. I'm quite opposed here. The math of extra spells vs. harder hitting spells assumes battles last long enough for you to go through your entire arsenal. I find that this is almost never the case - definitely not later in the game. Plus it's more time for opponents to throw fireworks as well. I don't take bonus spells on any caster, because in the Big Fight That Matters, if I lose, it will not be because I ran out of steam. I will advocate taking +freeze damage first. Chill Fog is a great spell, and stacking several of them on top of each other is brutal AoE + constant blind. If you can find good positions to cast Fan of Flames from that might be better though.
  13. Thank you for enlightening me. Not sure about making peace with some of these bugs getting through though, but that's a different discussion.
  14. Hic. Wait, what? I don't even know how to confirm that anymore, I just haven't seen anything saying it's been released and bugs like this one make it still feel like beta. :|
  15. I did this in 1.03 or 1.04 and I could loot it again. I'm just going to say you're not missing any way of interacting with it - Edér reacts the moment you loot it.
  16. Bounty quests are still quite lucrative. Anyway, for perspective, all act 1+2 quests (minus companion ones), 6 levels of the Endless Paths and my six man party is ~25% past level 9. Just the animancy hearing remaining, though it's bugged.
  17. My issue is similar. Already when Lady Webb told me to go get an invitation, I had the option to say I've burned all my bridges. Nevertheless, I went and got one from the knights, but the journal still says I've made all three factions my enemies and should ask LW for advice. I should add, for the record, that I've in creative, violent, and creatively violent ways antagonized House Doemenel, obviously including a meticulous killing spree in their manor.
  18. I'm pretty sure the selection at level up isn't so much to limit your repertoire as to ensure you can at least cast some spells of each level even if you don't know where to hunt down the right grimoire. Eventually you'll know most (I guess all?) spells and the limitation is how many you can prepare.
  19. Might=strength is a risky analogy. I like the might stat, but trying to define what it represents is beyond tricky when it boosts all kinds of damage, including that of spells. Your fireball did only 40 damage? Do you even lift, bro?
  20. That being said, ToI is more aggressive with the autosaving in 1.05. The other day I stole something by accident and wanted to reload, so I force-closed the game (ctrl+alt+del) and it still saved. Today, wanting to explore some conversation options, I turned my computer off to avoid the save.
