  1. I hijacked the thread. Anyone can like either of the games better than the other until the cows come home, I'm not going to argue that. All I was doing was letting off some steam in regards to a common mistake that is made around here.
  2. Yes, it will. I've seen it too many times, and, funnily enough, it's always by people who are proclaiming the superiority of the first Kotor to the second. It just seems like people don't care enough about the game to spell the names correctly. It's not that hard to look something up if you're unsure of the spelling.
  3. If it's simply a typo, then fine, far be it from me to correct everyone's keyboarding mistakes. But I find that many many people say *Raven* instead of Revan, making it seem like it's more than just a typo. I mean, throughout the game you hear everyone clearly say REVan. You read "Revan" in the journal entries, in the subtitles, etc. It's just impossible to avoid being inundated with the correct spelling and pronunciation!
  4. Well in that case, yes I've played the game without the use of attack skills. Sometimes the default attack can be quite effective.
  5. If somebody calls Revan *Raven* one more time I'm going to scream.
  6. I never used this "usual" setup. There are other strategies that can be developed that can be more effective or useful in varying situations. Half the time I never even bothered with Speed, despite the fact that I'd used it extensively in the original Kotor. I found my attacks to be far more powerful this time around, and therefore rarely required the Force to enhance them.
  7. I would never want to start out as a Padawan. And though in Kotor 1 you weren't technically one, you played half the game as if you were. Having people refer to me as "Padawan" grated on my nerves and became a bit insulting after awhile. I loved how in Kotor 2 you were already a Jedi (though exiled) and people referred to you as such. Just hearing people refer to you as this Jedi who should be assisted or feared was a real ego boost. What TOP is describing is contrary to the story of Kotor, and fits Jedi Academy much better.
  8. Depends on my alignment. If I'm LS, then I favor the classic Jedi Robes. If i'm DS, then it's the Dark Jedi Robes. I just like the way they fit better than the Knight/Master robes.
  9. An actual bronze-looking saber would have been awesome. But viridian is still my favorite.
  10. I love the way that you took advantage of the fact that Atton never faces the Exile when in the co<kpit. Awesome work, can't wait to see more!
  11. Are you sure that you uploaded that program into the computer?
  12. I've also gotten this cutscene when I hadn't yet made Disciple a Jedi, but I assume my influence with him was high enough to do so. And I've yet to have Mira remark that Exile and Atton must have been hooking up a power coupling, because unfortunately I've always had slightly more influence with Disciple than Atton. (Note to self: Save Dantooine for after I've gotten max. influence with Mr. Rand)
  13. Jolee, definitely, for all the quotes that have already been mentioned. And I love how his presence carries over to K2 as well, "pulling a Bindo" was a great line.
  14. I voted Nar Shaddaa. Mira was right, there is a certain energy about it. And with the way the quests work, as soon as you land you're caught up in a landslide of action that doesn't seem to stop until you're ready to leave the planet (Red Eclipse battle, message from Visquis, Jekk Jekk Tar battle, Visquis' hideout battle, Escape from Goto's yacht, and meeting/killing Zez Kai Ell). Second would be Onderon/Dxun. Dxun is one of the most physically beautiful of all the planets with its lush jungles and waterfalls, and working with the Mandalorians provided for an entirely new dynamic (whereas in Kotor 1 you were always fighting them). The best part about Onderon or Iziz for me was when you're actually engaged in the assault on the palace to either protect the Queen or help Vaklu kill her. The palace's interior was gorgeous, and that whole sequence had a lot of excitement to it. I liked the others equally, with the exception of Malachor V maybe only because so much was cut from it.
  15. 4. Why wasn't Bao-Dur allowed to lead the Freedon Nadd Tomb raiding party on Dxun? I'd imagine that the leader choices (Disciple/Handmaiden, Visas, Mira, and Atton) weren't necessarily outstanding in terms of what they'd add to the party (other than Force powers if they'd been made Jedi) whereas Bao-Dur, Jedi or not, is one of the most skilled party members. Best case scenario formula would go something like this: Leader (Possibly a Jedi or someone with no outstanding abilities) + Skills + Combat = Also, Bao-Dur is among the most well-received choices you can make as Kreia says "Yes, good choice" if you select him. 8. Why does bashing an empty crate suddenly produce broken items? In fact, why have locked empty crates at all? Could be a bug. I know there have been times when a locked crate was listed as (Empty) when in other games it was not. Also, it could just be an easy source of broken items to use in item creation at the workbench. 10. Why were the dialog and feedback buttons buried in the messages menu, accessible via a button at the bottom of the journal menu? I use them often and they were all just a click (or speedkey) away in KotOR? It seems to me that Obsidian tried to make the menus more efficient by categorizing them. Maybe they didn't realize how inconvenient it was to access the dialog/feedback/combat/effects menus in the way they'd organized them. 12. Now that skills can be changed from cross-class skill, why not have the Feats selection screen appear before the Skills screen during level ups? Good question. And correct me if I'm wrong, but if you increase your intelligence attribute during level-up and then go to your skills selection, do you automatically receive those increased skill points or do you have to wait until another level-up? At times it seems like the latter occurs, but that could be an oversight on my part. 13. Why doesn't the character portrait in the load menu change to reflect alignment like it did in KotOR? It should. Mine always did. 14. Why is it no longer possible to filter the inventory menu for "new items only" like we could in KotOR? That would've been nice, I suppose, but the Kotor II inventory filters were a huge improvement over Kotor I's anyway. 21. Why bring up the party selection menu when departing Citadel Station for the Ravager when you are forced to use Mandalore and Visas? I'd attribute this to a bug as well, however, you could always utilize this last opportunity to speak to your party members before boarding the Ravager as well all know from then on out you're pretty much flying solo. 27. Why can't Kreia read the thoughts of Bao-Dur and what of it? I wondered this as well, but for me, in the end it comes down to being another nice Star Wars reference with her Palpatine-esque response of being surprised that she could not read his thoughts when the Exile could (as in Vader sensing Luke's presence when the Emperor could not). 31. What did Kreia mean when she told Hanharr, "but first I must prepare you for what is to come" ? What preparation was there besides getting the beast to Malachor? It wouldn't necessarily be a walk in the park for Hanharr to get to Malachor V and then hunt Mira amidst the threat of Storm Beasts. 34. When GOTO was asked "wasn't your ship just destroyed?" why does he respond with "a common misconception not supported by fact" ? Droid humor, or denial? 38. How was I supposed to help Guron look for the modulator he was searching for at the swoop race center? You weren't. There never was a modulator, the poor guy was simply so delusional in his desire to win the rigged swoop races that he thought he would stumble upon a quick fix to his solution. 45. Why was Khoonda admin Terena Adare laughing so much? You can see her character model swaying and chuckling up a storm even while the rest of us are fighting back the mercs that are trying to kill her. One could suppose that she was laughing at the fate of the mercs knowing that she had two Jedi on her side to protect her from them. Jedi party members achieving LS mastery bonuses usually lost them during level ups or even game loading. You know what? In LS games my party members never received LS mastery bonuses even when their meters showed them at 100% LS.
  16. Well, that may be all well and good, but I would argue that Palpatine's goals were never to cater to the true teachings of the Sith, rather to do exactly as he did: form the Galactic Empire and rule over everything. I don't see Palps in the same way as I see Revan or Malak, Nihilus, Sion, Traya, etc. They were SITH Lords, and because the Original Trilogy never once mentioned the word "Sith" I believe that Palpatine never intended to be a Sith Lord in the same way as those others mentioned did. He had his own unique plans for galactic domination and it had very little to do with the fact that he was a Force user. So in that, I would not place him in the same category...nor mock him for his "lack of vision" in regards to the Sith teachings.
  17. Perhaps This was posted at the XWAU boards, the same replies were mentioned there, for the most part... Still, I think it would have been nice to see Obi-Wan's entry to the world that water abandoned get denied temporarily by his old nemesis of old :D <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I'm confused; the tone of your original post indicated that you were less than enthused with the idea of Maul returning for Episode III. Now you wish it were true?
  18. Obi-Wan Kenobi, you mean? This is obviously fake. I've read the transcripts of Ep3, I've seen the scene-by-scene production stills. Nothing like that happens in the movie at all. It's best to take things with a huge grain of salt, my friend.
  19. I have no problem with the ingame music. I guess my ears must be blasted from the volume that I listen to Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin at in my car when driving, thus I don't notice the supposed low-quality, but when it comes to Kotor, I let the game set the mood for me.
  20. I'd rather have a wookiee and be LS, personally. Mira doesn't really do anything for a female character other than offer some men advice and be the token scout class for your party.
  21. And a nice little G0-T0-esque droid to keep her company.
  22. Yeah, you have to take into consideration the fact that everyone's opinions are varied over what was memorable or "burned into the mind". In Kotor I, for me, the most memorable things were: - Malak bombing Taris - Malak bombing Dantooine - Having to kill Jolee and Juhani - Defeating Malak (Note: The Revan revelation was unwillingly spoiled for me by some friends, so I did not get the opportunity to experience that discovery.) In Kotor II: - Waking up in a kolto tank to discover that someone is trying to kill you - The Harbinger docking at the Peragus mining facility with Sion onboard - The exchange between the Exile and Atris in the Telos Academy - Charging Queen Talia's palace to save her from General Vaklu - The meeting with the "Jedi Masters" on Dantooine - Facing Nihilus - Facing Sion (this was one really interesting with his "You are beautiful to me" line, totally added a new dimension on a character that at first appeared very straightforward and brutish.) - Facing Kreia on Malachor V But both games were extremely enjoyable for me, and I can't choose one over the other.
  23. I prefer Bao-Dur as a character, and in the instances where I need his skills. Mira's a little annoying to me, but as a Jedi I've made her into quite the adept melee fighter and she does decent damage with a double-bladed lightsaber.
  24. Are you saying that you're stuck in the military base? You need to use the shuttle to travel, and to do that you must reactivate the reactor and unlock the hangar bay doors once you find the launch codes.
