I'd just like to address this idea that Revan works better as a male LS character on the basis of the Bastila romance. For one thing, as I played the game for the first time as a DS female, Bastila's storyline had little importance to me. I was much more concerned (after learning of my true identity) with regaining my position as Sith Lord and taking the galaxy by the throat. Likewise, when I played the game as a LS female, I was far more swept up in the Carth romance and my mission to SAVE THE GALAXY than worrying about what Bastila was up to. True, her battle meditation did play an integral role in the fate of the Republic forces, but I knew that if I couldn't persuade her back to the light, I could take her life. What I'm trying to say is, reasoning that just because one of the many outcomes of the game is to see the realization of a romance/redemption of Bastila and a LS male Revan, does not mean that that is the *only* outcome of the game or, indeed, the most important. Maybe it makes more sense to some players whose games afforded that option, but it does not necessarily take precedent in the minds of others.

Odd Things in the Inventory...
Leia Emperius replied to Hey Steve's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Absolutely. I messed up that salvager's quest once and was stuck with those corpses until the end. I thought maybe the game would let you break them down into chemicals or something, haha. I've also had to carry that kinrath gland during my DS game, which is somewhat reminiscent of that lone tach gland from Kotor 1 that I picked up on Kashyyyk back in the day. -

Name your Character
Leia Emperius replied to OneWithStrange's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
LOL I'll admit, I was hyped to play a DS game (in the first Kotor) and I didn't waste any time crafting my character to rule over the galaxy (Leia Emperius). -
Name your Character
Leia Emperius replied to OneWithStrange's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
My first Revan was a DS female by the name of Leia Emperius (hence my chosen screenname). Then I played a LS male by the name of Carn Katsumoto (I had just watched "The Last Samurai"). Then I played another DS female called Czarina Sloan. My Exile is Aurora Von, a LS female, and I made a DS male named Laustin Zhar that I'm currently playing now. Overall, my favorites have always been the firsts, so Leia Emperius and Aurora Von are close to my Kotor-playing heart -
Revan here, Revan there (Aug 31)
Leia Emperius replied to aimo's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
I set that last wallpaper as my desktop. I love all of your work, it's bloody brilliant! Keep it coming! -
Why should he be different in Ep 3 than in Ep. 6? That's what he's really like. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Exactly. Just watch while he uses Force Lightning on Luke in ROTJ and you can see the same mannerisms in his face. He may act cool and manipulative at times, but underneath it all he's hysterically evil.

I gave up on having my NPCs specialize in ranged combat a long time ago...I think on my first play through of the first Kotor. If someone can present a decent case for it, I might consider it in the future...for now, I prefer to get everyone as melee capable as possible. All members of the party that are Jedi receive lightsabers asap. Depending on what types I have acquired, I max out either their two-weapon or dueling feats. I switch between upgraded heavy armor and robes (Exile: Jedi Knight Robes/Corellian Power Suit, Atton: Grey Jedi Robes/Iotran Braceman Armor, Mira: Matukai Apprentice Robes/Muf'gha(or however you spell it), Disciple: Ossus Keeper Robes/Mandalorian Assault Armor) I give everyone the best belts and gloves that I can (always saving the dominator +5 strength gauntlets for myself, and a GNS Strength Enhancer if one is available, if not I go for the Exchange Utility Belt). I really feel that I have to stress how deadly Canderous can be if you concentrate all of your levelling energy on improving his melee combat. I discovered this in the first game and I was brimming with excitement as soon as he joined the party for the second. His armor isn't the greatest, but give him the most powerful two-bladed weapon you can find and he mows down anything that gets in his way. Mandalorians

Though Luke was certainly essential in the process, Anakin is indeed the Chosen One. Luke's part (and to some degree, Leia's) was to place doubt within Vader's mind as to his humanity. Also, Palpatine desired to have Luke by his side instead of Vader as Luke's potential would have exceeded his father's (as Vader wore the suit which diminished some of his prowess as a combatant). These contributions by Luke were necessary in order for Anakin to fulfill his destiny: to remove Palpatine, bring about the end of the Galactic Empire, and thus bring balance to the Force. That moment in ROTJ when Vader stops Palpatine from attacking Luke and throws him down the shaft are what, in my opinion, the films build up to...the final climax.

I always wondered what made people interested in Kotor, and whether it was because they were strictly Star Wars or RPG fans in general. I know for myself that I'm a huge Star Wars fan and that's the reason I started playing Kotor; I haven't played any other RPG games. So what's your reason? If you don't think the above choices reflect you, feel free to choose "Other" and explain your unique situation.

After finally viewing the "Kreia's Fall" movie, I have a greater respect for the character. I cringed at what her fellow Sith Lords did to her, and where once I saw a manipulative witch, now I see someone just trying to regain the dignity that she lost and taking out her anger against both the Jedi and the Sith for what was done.

I remember on my first playthrough that upon landing on Dxun when Atton talks about all the repairs that the ship needed, I was certain that there'd be some sort of exchange similar to that between Han and Leia in ESB when the Falcon needed repairs. That would've been great.

I found that my character's crystal (upgraded a few times by Kreia) and the Upari Crystal that you can purchase from Geeda if Onderon and Dantooine have both been stabilized combine to produce my best saber (for a lightsider).

You'll get it soon enough. Just sit tight and enjoy the ride.

LOL Too true. I love Atton Rand, kudos to the developers for his character. In my judgement of him, I usually include the original cutscenes that were going to be included. He's a very moving character when it's all said and done.

Just a little question regarding Atton.
Leia Emperius replied to Lucius's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
"And now to contribute to this thread, other than the backstory Atton gives you up until you train him, he doesn't really provide much more. He gives you a bonus to your Will saving throws later on in the game (if you haven't gotten it already). He'll also complain about your face and/or tell you that you look really peachy at times." This is the truth. Everything that's been said about Revan ambushing is total BS. -
No way. I cannot believe that Nicky Katt did the voice for Atton! I used to watch Boston Public all the time and he was my favorite character. Geez, even now it's really hard to imagine him giving Atton's lines, he did a great delivery of those lines. I especially love the way he says "Yeah!" like when fighting with Disciple or after the expedition to Freedon Nadd's tomb.

I'm playing the game now as a male to be able to compare the romances for myself. At any rate, I have to agree with you that the male romances seem to be far more polished than the female ones. For example, if you gain high enough influence with the Handmaiden and convert her into a Jedi, there are several cutscenes with Atris on Telos displaying her reaction to it; there is no such thing for a female exile. It's a bit strange, really, because you might think that in developing a game that is played by both men and women, that the developers would assume women would have a greater interest in the emotional elements of the game...and yet they pretty much get shafted.

I had these as well. Most notable was during my first playthrough when your party is stuck in the apartment to rest. Lt. Grenn and his officers were supposed to exit but they didn't and just stood with their backs to you, doors closed. Can't a girl get some privacy? That also reminded me of a glitch that I continue to have at times when entering/exiting areas. Sometimes I guess I don't run at the door at the right angle or something and it won't take me to the next area. I have to turn around and run back the other way to trigger the transit. Which reminds me of another thing, is it just me, or is there no way to transit like in Kotor from the menu screen? I don't see any option to "Return to Ebon Hawk" or "Transit Back" at all even though the loading screen messages have told me that this is available.
-
I know people have had this one before. During my DS run, I was on Nar Shaddaa getting ready for the plot to kick in and left the Ebon Hawk with Atton and Visas in my party. Then the cutscene starts where Atton is supposed to get the message from Visquis, but it abruptly stops and nothing happens. Now I have an extra Atton hanging out by the Ebon Hawk whenever I travel to Nar Shaddaa and I think I'm going to have to reload an old save just because the plot doesn't seem to be working now. But it's quite funny to see Atton still wearing his ribbed jacket (he's got a Grey Jedi robe at the moment) guarding the ship. I play Pazaak with him from time to time in case he gets lonely.

Why is it that I don't end up in a cell?
Leia Emperius replied to SteveThaiBinh's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
This is what I get everytime. Atton is not in his cell, but rather he's sprawled out on the ground directly opposite the area where the last handmaiden is standing within that circular chamber. This is where my character has the conversation with him about him not having to come along if he doesn't want to, etc. I assume this was supposed to happen once you released him from his force cage? It's a shame this bug continues to happen to me. I imagine Atton's reactions to Kreia's manipulations would've been interesting to see. -
I for one hope that they never solidify whether Revan was LS/DS Male/Female. Look at all of us discussing this, no one can agree really because Revan is a different person to us all. I don't want to force my opinion of Revan on to someone with a completely different one. It doesn't matter what the game defaults to. I'm not trying to be rude, but I just wish these types of discussions would cease because no one will ever agree and it's not fair to say "Oh the game defaults DS/LS Male/Female so it must be true!" The fact of the matter is: Revan is whatever you want Revan to be. There should never be a definitive version, imo.
-
Well, I assume that if you'd said Revan was DS then the game would say that he hadn't been saved (whereas in reality, I risked the LS points to save him and continue Carth's romance).
-
*Sniff* You are so evil for putting this together. That made me cry. Carth and Revan are so perfect together, maybe we'll see some resolution in Kotor 3.
