A few questions concerning DS playthrough.
Unabomber replied to cerealkiller's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
IIRC, you can only get your NPC's to LS or DS mastery if your class is a Jedi Master or Sith Lord. -
? on Handmaiden as Apprentice/Padawan
Unabomber replied to Shmi's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
You're most likely referring to the Handmaiden. If she's angry with you, then you can't progress any further in the dialog, which means that you can't train her as a Jedi. This happens if you have a lot more influence with Visas (the dark Jedi) than you do with the Handmaiden. Handmaiden is probably the most difficult to convert, but it can be reliably done. In addition to having a high influence with Handmaiden, in order to convert her to a Jedi Guardian, you need to have the following: 1) Defeated her 3 times in sparring matches on the Ebon Hawk (you must be Level 18 to get the last fight) 2) Asked her about her mother, and talked to Kreia about her mother. 3) Tell her that the force runs strongly in her, and that she can learn, etc. Note: Only the main character need be L18. You can hold back on levelling her up if you want to save those levels for her Jedi class. -
Best Dark Side Force Power again
Unabomber replied to atombom2005's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Against multiple enemies: Force Storm Against a single enemy: Force Kill By the time you can cast Force Storm (L18+), and if you have a high WIS, you can inflict some pretty good damage, even if the enemies save. Very good for taking out hordes of enemies, and a bit quicker than using Force Wave. I liked Force Kill over Crush, simply because it takes away HP from your enemy in a percentage manner. Thus, it doesn't matter how much the computer scales up your enemy's HP; they'll still die after a few rounds of application. Also, you can get it a lot earlier than you will ever get Crush. -
No.

True, but on the flip side of the coin, there are some influence spots that can grant influence to more than one party member. For example, if you tell Queen Talia to execute Vaklu, and if you have both Mandalore and Kreia in the party, you'll get influence with both.

Whats the worst dark side act you did?
Unabomber replied to jennahaze's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
I only got DS points once during this entire string of acts, but it was certainly funny. On the Telos station, when you try to enter the Bumani Exchange office without an appointment, the Rodian guard tries to stop you. You can threaten him, and say "open that door, or you're dead," and then kill him. Leave the area (entrance to the western side is just next to it), and come back, and a new Rodian spawns. You can kill him, too. All in all, I think I killed 5 Rodians, with only one DS hit, and even got a nice suit of armor from one of their corpses. Then they ran out of Rodians. -
There are actually two places where there exists some dark side energy. One will grant you something in the Wound / Choke / Kill tree, the other grants you something in the Slow / Affliction / Plague tree. You can still be LS and get these powers, if you don't mind taking in a good number of DS points.
-
If you are LS, it's really not worth the effort. All you'll gain is a very temporary increase to your STR and CON. If you're DS, then it's worth soaking it up, since you'll gain a new power.

Are you sure about the L15 detail? I seem to remember that I was able to convert him on Nar Shaada as the first planet (after Telos) at a lower level, simply because I got enough influence (fix the speeder with his help, help the bullied guy, etc). The only one that I know of for sure, that had a level requirement, was Handmaiden, in which case you needed to be L18 to get the third sparring session. Nope. It's a one-way street. Once she says that there is nothing more to talk about, it doesn't matter how much influence you get; she can't be converted. There are two possibilities of Handmaiden getting into it with Visas. 1) If you have more influence with Visas than you do with Handmaiden, but not too much more (20 or less), then you'll get a scene where the two of them argue on the Ebon Hawk. You can still convert her, as long as you don't let this influence difference get any greater. 2) If you have significantly more influence with Visas than you do with Handmaiden, you'll get the same scene, but then she'll talk with Kreia, and will be angry with you.
-
Actually, your level doesn't really matter that much, since the game's engine automatically scales up your opponent in accordance to your level. Kreia is no different from the rest. For example, if you try to kill Queen Talia at the end of the game (when you've already killed off the other masters, etc), she can actually have 1000+ HP if your level is high enough. However, if you kill her relatively early, she won't have nearly that many HP.

Things you can do: First of all, don't get intimidated by her three lightsaber magic. Think of it as being no different than facing three dark Jedi armed with lightsabers. Use your best shield. You should have found a good number of Verpine Prototype shields from the corpses of the enemies, especially on the Ravager. If not, backtrack, and make a bunch of them at the workbench in the Trayus Academy. Cast Energy Resistance. This will offer a good bit of long lasting protection against her lightsabers. If you have Force Speed, use it. You can kill off her floating lightsabers a lot more quickly. If you are using medium or heavy armor, then reinforce it with some plating that can absorb energy attacks. Cast Force Plague on Kreia. It can't be stopped, if she doesn't have Force Immunity on. This will reduce her inhuman stats to something more manageable. Cast Force Wave on the lightsabers. It will push them back, and stun them. During this time, you can either hack on the lightsabers, or even decide to go after Kreia herself.

Some people simply prefer not to use Atton, because either they enjoyed using other characters, or didn't build him right. I level Atton up to 5 or 7 as a Scoundrel, so he can get a bit more punch added to his sneak attack. I usually max out Critical Strike, and then add the duelling feat. When he's a Jedi, I use an upgraded lightsaber, with a single keen upgrade, and the rest loaded with damage upgrades, and he can inflict some serious harm on others this way. Instead of duelling, I'll sometimes max out two weapon fighting, and give him a second keen lightsaber. Very nasty combination. While he won't exactly be the best offensive Force power user (too low of a base wisdom), he can still cast a bunch of buffing powers, such as Force Valor, Battle Meditation, etc.

The easy way to get the Thorium charges on Dantooine is to talk to Akerre after you find out that he's stealing parts from droids. Say that you're going to turn him in, and he'll attack you. No change in LS / DS status, but you can get influence with HK47. You'll find the charges on his corpse, along with a few nice pieces of loot.

There are some color crystals that aren't random, you can get a silver crystal from that Rodian merchant on Nar Shaddaa if you complete the new trade routes quest. And you can get an orange one in a footlocker on Korriban, but that's all I know about. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Also a viridian one at the conclusion of Onderon (in addition to a nice Pontite crystal).

Plz Answer Som Q's About this Game
Unabomber replied to dylanier's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Despite all of the gripes you'll hear here, yes, it's worth getting. Yes, and no. Yes, that there are all sorts of new facets to the game, prestige classes for the more advanced levels, an influence attribute, and a new system of upgrading items. No, in that the storyline doesn't quite flow as well as it should, and some of the character development isn't as good as its original counterpart. Peragus, Telos, Dantooine, Nar Shaada, Onderon, Korriban. Lots of familiar sights from the first game, although things may have changed a good bit. The remaining jedi masters. -
Need Help Defeating Hannar with Mira
Unabomber replied to dogteam's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Disagree... Dual Rykk blades and 20 STR makes for a bad day. -
Back to the topic... It's not entirely out of the question that he could return, assuming that Revan went LS. Age shouldn't be too much of a factor here, since it's already been shown that those in their 80's can still do just fine (Count Dooku, for example). Also, he's in excellent shape for an 80 year old, having lived in the Shadowlands all of those years. What happened to him? This was taken directly from TSL site: http://www.angelfire.com/ca/coffeemeister/story.html Maybe he simply exiled himself elsewhere, maybe he got 'capped by a sith assassin.

Heh. I remember getting a Nextor crystal on the Star Forge, but not having any cursed place to upgrade one of the lightsabers. To the original poster: As the others stated, the random loot generator determines what kind of crystal you get, and the crystal type is triggered when you enter an area, apparently. Some places will spawn lower quality crystals (Adegean, Rubat, etc), others might give medium quality crystals (Sapith, Eralam, Damind, etc), and some others high quality (Upari, Solari, Pontite, etc). That being said, there are a few places where you will always get a certain crystal, such as always getting a Pontite crystal if you loot the museum in Onderon, or get it as a reward (and didn't loot) afterwards. I believe there's also a Upari crystal that is always available if you help Geeda, the Rodian merchant on Nar Shaada, and clear out Dantooine and Onderon.

Need Help Defeating Hannar with Mira
Unabomber replied to dogteam's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
There's an old saying, that an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of the cure. Before your exile goes to the docks, start upgrading some weapons for Mira. Whether it's a vibrosword or a blaster, is your choice. Put in the best upgrades that you can build, provided that the upgrades don't require any special feats (forget about the best Vibration cells, for example). Make sure that you have a good number of Mandalorian Melee shields in your inventory. If you don't then stop by the workbench first (in the Sullustan's place), and build a bunch. When it's time to fight Hanharr, Mira will have that upgraded equipment available to her. At the very start, use a Mandalorian Melee shield and an Adrenal Alacrity stim (extra speed). Run through the mines, and let Hanharr follow you. He'll dumbly run through them (like he did before), and that will help whittle him down a bit. You can do this because Mira doesn't set off mines. Keep running, and take an occasional turn to shoot Hanharr with your upgraded blaster, or perhaps engage in a round or two of melee combat with your upgraded vibrosword. If your health gets low, go to your inventory screen, and use an Advanced Medikit or Life Support Kit from there, so you don't waste a turn. Keep running, and then re-apply the Mandalorian Melee shield and / or stims as needed. Taking out the Kath hounds shouldn't be difficult. If you start out far away enough, you can use her wrist rocket launcher, and fling a couple of adhesive grenades, and incapacitate the lot, and follow it up with the more damaging grenades. -
On the Rakatan planet, when you're in the temple, you'll find the Sith Master (the guy who is first shown blowing up a droid with some lightning). He's the guy who says something about how he's intensified his training 10 fold. After killing him, you can find a few nice items, such as blue dark jedi master robes, a lightsaber, and the Upari crystal. There's a bench in the next room where you can quickly add it. I think the above room is the armory in the temple, but it's been a while.

Removed the line about spelling -Battlewookiee But yes, I agree; Bralor is a pushover by the time you've hit Dxun and completed enough quests to face him. I have to give him credit for allowing you to use your entire arsenal, though.
-
Quite true, that the addition of a premium cell (Tegram III for 1-8 extra pts of damage) as well as a Pontite Lens (2-12 extra damage) can give you that extra power that was unavailable in KOTOR1. However, it's still all relative. By the time you're capable of creating such items, your enemies have also scaled up according to your level.

Hardest battles? 1) On Telos: Exile versus the Handmaidens. You're still at a low enough level where your powers haven't quite matured yet, and you don't have a lightsaber either. 2) On Dantooine: Exile versus Vrook, if you're doing this as your first planet after Telos. Your lightsaber isn't too powerful at this stage, since you don't have the skills to make the nicer upgrades, and the crystals that you get are mediocre at this experience level. That, plus Vrook can keep spamming Force Heal, making it a tough fight. 3) On GOTO's Yacht: Take your pick... Your other two characters versus the droids. The droids can pack a pretty nasty whallop, and unless you took the time to get Destroy Droid, you're in for a long battle. 4) Nar Shadaa: Mira vs Hanharr and the gang, assuming you're playing as Mira, and are doing this planet early on, especially if you're holding back levels so you can maximize her Jedi levels later. Hanharr isn't too easy to beat if you didn't take time to make her a nice melee weapon or ranged weapon with some of the better upgrades. That, plus the Ubese aren't pushovers either. 5) Onderon: Exile vs Queen Talia. Despite her dainty appearance, she has a boatload of HP, and can take a lot of abuse. 6) Malachor V: Kreia. 'nuff said. She also has tons of HP, and is pretty much immune to all of your Force-based attacks. 7) Telos, in the military base: The Tank Droid. Your characters are newbies, and weak at this point, and unless you took the time to make some decent ion-based weapons, you're in for a nasty fight. That darn flamethrower...

Depends on how early you fix it. You might get some more use if you get it early enough, before your meeting with GOTO. Either way, though, it's really not much faster warping with the speeder, than it is by simply running. The only thing it's really good for, is gaining influence with Bao Dur (sometimes hard to get), or Atton, and some experience points.

Start using upgrades to your weapons that increase your "To Hit" chances. Even at the early phases of the game, you should still be able to find some moderately good crystals, such as the Damind, that will improve your chances. You can also use better fencing emitters in your saber, etc.
