  1. I kind of feel like the companion stories and personalities are a huge part of the game. Can't really imagine going with a mercenary party unless I felt like I'd exhausted all the companion content in previous playthroughs already. I did end modifying companion attributes a little for my PoE1 playthrough (using the Unity Assets Extractor). I didn't actually minmax, just shuffled the attributes around slightly - I think that was a nice compromise between RP and gameplay. Plus I actually globally raised the XP requirements by 25% in that playthrough, so I didn't feel like I was cheating to make it easy on myself. But that's a whole tangent on difficulty that doesn't really belong in this thread... Two handed weapons do less than dual wielding but are still plenty viable for use on PotD, so don't discount Wizards and their summoned weapons for that reason. The Wizard has lots of instant cast buffs that can be set up in the AI to automatically cast at the start of combat or when they run out. Makes buffing really easy. A Wizard (generalist)/Soul Blade will get decent deflection and protection from the illusion buffs like mirror image and will end up more tanky than many fighters and paladins. Fire off a Swift Feet, a Vitality of mortal essence and a mirror image and you'll spend like 1.2 seconds and get +5 dex, +5 con, and +30 (I think) deflection. I think summoned weapons take 3 seconds so if you start from stealth with a spell like fireball, combat starts and activates your buffs, summon your staff while your other party members move to engage and then you can attack from the second row with the two handed reach and add in soul annihilation as desired to splat enemies. It should be a pretty cool and viable character on any difficulty. A Monk (I prefer Shattered Pillar)/Soul Blade will do an outstanding job. If you will use fists go with Nature Godlike for the power level buff. A Shattered Pillar/Wizard using summoned weapons is also viable. I'd go with the summoned weapons so that'd be two handed style instead of dual wielding but either or both could work as well. Using the reach of two handed you could stay behind the line and get good use of dance of death for a +12 accuracy buff while generating wounds by causing damage. Instead of doing all this.. have you considered a Fighter? They get Constant Recovery!
  2. The only problem I have with these portraits is that I'm not a big fan of the 'naked body' look that most of them have got going. They'd be even more epic if they were wearing leather armor, or plate, or whatever but it's just a quibble really
  3. Maybe you could start as another paladin subclass and just use the console to add and remove the relevant abilities. Bleak walkers get a unique FoD right? Use the console to add that to your char and remove the standard version. Sort of an ugly hack but it might work. Thanks for the idea. Thank you. You could roleplay it as your guy used to be a BW but turned over a new leaf or something
  4. Bothered me too, but I find Anna Helme's fire godlike portraits to be too awesome not to use! Here's my collection of godlike-ish m & f with skin as close to the model as I could find. ....I've been looking for these kind of portraits for months!
  5. Durance reliably misses all offensive spells on POTD, even with accuracy buffs online Meanwhile that extra 6 deflection sure is useful..not. But it's more of an annoyance than a crucial problem. As long as he can make my party immune to domination he can sit in the corner jerking himself off for the rest of each fight for all it matters
  6. Using companions is ultimate hard mode, forget POTD Like driving the short bus Don't companions get a level advantage over recruits anymore, as they did in PoE 1?I remember picking Kana and GM in my trio party, just so I can get Dragon chant/Mindweb asap. When I reached level 16 and could have switched to recruits (it was my original plan to do so) the stats just didn't matter anymore because a level 16 party of three is so op they could have had not used all statpoints and still stomped the game. And well before level 15 and op mindweb I still felt like getting dragon chant one level earlier and having an ability/talent/power more than I would have on recruits more than made up for not having ideal stats. But since I don't have the beta I wouldn't know if recruits still lose a level over companions, but I'm pretty sure I've seen at least one solo PotD video, so I don't see how companions would hinder you from playing PotD. I mean I was mostly speaking in jest but some of the companions in POE1 have really bad stats. Durance for example has such poor perception that his offensive spells are useless, at least early on anyway. His resolve is more or less wasted on a priest.

  8. These early plot points are always considered fair game. I wish they wouldn't do it to but realistically they have no choice. You have to market something. If you want to be completely in the dark you basically need to follow nothing until release day. Still, there's way more egregious examples than this. Every single preview of KOTOR 2 spoiled the HK-50 reveal at Peragus. That would have been a cool moment as a surprise. I suppose so
  9. No it's not, it's like learning about Thaos and that you spend the game chasing him and that he turned you into a Watcher
  10. I didn't see any of that, I haven't seen any taglines, I've watched lots of videos on the game including dev vlogs and none of them have talked about the main plot like this Forget it
  11. I just watched it and it literally does not even mention/show any of this:
  12. No one could have predicted you didn't even know what was revealed when the Fig campaign started. Nothing was talked about that wasn't known since they launched the fundraising campaign. SPOILERS Yeah not all of those details were in the Fig video as far as I remember. Thanks for the snarky, unconstructive comment, though.
  13. Ugh I dislike that Josh explains the entire plot hook at the start of the interview. I prefer to have the storyline secret, for me to discover playing though the game myself. I wish you guys had warned me that there was story spoilers. I wouldn't have clicked on it. Oh well.
  14. Yeah. I don't think anyone has spotted anything yet. Maybe there is still some new media coming up over the next few weeks. As far as the trailers we already have, I've checked out the Aedyran script featured in many of the videos, and while the result can be pretty cool, it isn't relevant to the hunt. So, the sources indicated in the email and the Scavenger hunt announcement are: screenshots - yes trailers - nothing yet social media posts - yes website banners - ...maybe? images - yes, but that's also quite vague GIFs - yes concept art - nothing yet Other places we've found them include real-life printed media, backer videos, twitch streams, and an email. Lots of sources, yes, but nearly all of the codes we've found are aren't much further than a link or two distant from a post on one of the official twitter accounts. I demand that you fix the incorrectly-spelled 'cross-referenced' in the OP. It's driving me nuts.
  15. What's the best weapon for 1H+Shield? Goldpact Knight/Troubadour btw.
  16. Don't you think they don't know it? They just don't care. More sisnister reasons are hidden behind the players' not-likeness of already established and flesh-out characters' portraits, unfortunately Essentially, I want all of the female companions to pander to my very limited and misogynist view of what a beautiful woman looks like Personal choice is irrelevant: anyone that doesn't accept the creator's view of what a character's portrait should be, is basically a sexist, racist bigot
  17. Yes, I mean the upgrade of sneak attack. In Final Fantasy 7, deathblows is an attack where you either miss or crit. I never used it. Sneak attack is always applied when you have the conditions in all games I have played. I want an ability that increases the damage of all attacks, not an "all or nothing attack". Every time I hear "deathblows" I think of an all or nothing attack. Thats why I called the upgrade of sneak attack "death attack". I know this makes no sense. Having played tons of RPGs can give you a lot of experience, but it can also confuse you if different games use the same word for different abilities or they use a different word for the same ability. FF7. Haha. That's a blast from the past. Quadra-Magic-Ultima!
  18. Wow. Thanks man. That's a lot to process. I think ultimately this shows that Dexterity is of limited use at best to a pure chanter that does just invocations. It's of more use to a hybrid character but even then, I think it's of less value than, say, Might.
  19. Thanks B-man! Does chanting pause during recovery periods for other actions? Or just Invocation recovery?
