Great idea, would be pretty nifty. Sounds like it may take some work though since a save game is a save game, you can't load just a biography without a game save attached to it. Unless you mean just a .txt file or something you dig up in the save folder without loading anything directly in the game engine.

UI needs some serious work.

No such problems here playing @ 2560x1440. Hope you get it cleared up. -
Feedback on game
sp3cw4r replied to Suna's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Partial voice overs, as they've done here, are perfect for me since what I've heard is of high-quality. If a studio can't hire the best voice overs, I'd rather all text. Though the very first guy, caravan master Odama?, his voice somewhat disappointed me since I just got finished playing Wasteland 2 a couple months ago, and all I could hear was General Vargas (same voice actor). It's like reading the book and seeing the movie. The book is always better for me since my own imagination animates and voices the characters, atmosphere, etc. When I watch the movie I often have trouble seeing past the "set" and the "actor" who's ... well... acting. -
Where did you get that portrait? I edited this image http://liangxinxin.deviantart.com/art/Dragonwoman-Mylwaye2-414527276 to fit the size requirements (and obviously mirrored it) It's a shame I couldn't get the hat in. Hats with feathers are stylish. Shame about the hat, but hey at least you fit some cleavage in.

So... Was it worth your pledge?
sp3cw4r replied to Luridis's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Still only a few hours into it, but without question I'm a happy backer! ... and it's only just beginning really, 1st expansion is covered by my pledge as well. -
some of the map is too dim
sp3cw4r replied to apolloooo's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
yeah try adjusting brightness level on your monitor if you haven't already. Initially my game was a bit too dark as well but a couple points up on the gamma slider made it better (though it's still dark). -
Thank you and Congratulations!

I'm blown away by this.

Loving every minute of it here too. First game that's gave me shivers up my spine in a long time, along with those pangs of excitement at every turn. The music is fantastic for setting the mood, I love the intro piece! I replayed it about 5 times until my wife asked what the hell I was repeating it for.... -

I'm a bit worried
sp3cw4r replied to Sensuki's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
I've grabbed all backer versions and played through at least a couple maps in each on highest settings and can't remember a single crash. I do weird stuff too, stuff more likely to cause crashes, like alt-enter to switch from window to full screen and drag the game to different monitors, etc. I doubt this is a widespread problem, and it's highly likely there will be crashes with some system configurations until they can iron them all out with a patch or two. I'm running Windows 8.1 Pro 64-bit, i7 2700K overclocked to 4.2GHz, 16GB RAM, Intel SSD, Radeon 7970. -
Item details popup window remembers screen position of the last such window closed. 1. Right click weapon item in inventory. Popup opens center screen. 2. Click Compare button in popup window. 3. Close original popup window using X in top right corner. 4. Close comparison popup window using X in top right corner. 5. Right click a weapon in your inventory. Popup location is no longer screen center. 6. Click Compare button in popup window. Comparison window is now half off screen. Expected Behavior: Fixed locations for popup windows, don't remember position of last popup closed. Center screen for first popup, comparison popups to the right of the first. Comments: Ideally it would be nice if all windows were floating and could be repositioned. Here we'd want to remember last positioned closed and enable future popups to open in the same location.

[435] Poor Quality Loading Screen Images
sp3cw4r replied to Sensuki's question in Backer Beta Bugs and Support
I support highest possible resolution on all images. Games are artwork and the producers shouldn't be selling themselves short and all the work they put into it by handing it off butchered by compression. I understand the need to accommodate folks with lower spec'ed systems, but at the cost of gimping the game art, voices, music... bah. In cases like this especially, where the benefits are minimal, it doesn't seem like the right call. Reminds me of the music industry when heavy mp3 compression became so popular. They didn't raise enough fuss at how badly their product was degraded by it. -
Just reproduced this with another new party. Note materials and currency consumed are correct for the amount selected, just getting a double-dose of freebies.
-
Did a search for this and couldn't find an existing report. Any items I craft are resulting in double the amount expected. I choose to craft 1 amount, I get 2, I choose 2 I get 4, etc. It's happened with each type of item available to craft for a beginning party.

Testing forum title. ...hmmm, yeah, not sure what's going on. I've been on the list forever as Vesahgo, Nullifier of the Obsidian Order. Did I create a new account? Can't remember, but anyways... I'll take that title here please and thank you. I've completed the backer survey regarding this, not sure what's the difference of requesting it here and doing the survey? Either way, my forum title isn't showing.

Well said. My download has just now finished so I'm off to try my own play-through. The game hasn't been optimized yet, so hopefully that explains the unresponsiveness of the UI.
-
I'm still downloading the beta so can't speak from experience, but I've already been thinking exactly this just from watching the game play streams. Everything just seemed a little too fast.
