  1. Eh, I didn't say the other casters weren't cool or useful, I said they weren't as powerful. Besides the point, I still think it's a good idea to increase the usefulness/effectiveness of other classes by giving them some spells.
  2. Thanks man. Sounds alright to me. The other classes might be more viable then IE games where it was a bit wizard or nothing (at least in terms of power).
  3. I'm confused. Do you mean there are less spells than IE or same type / amount of spells but just spread across different classes?
  4. Yeah I haven't got backer beta but from all accounts that's the one IE part they haven't captured yet. Here's hoping!
  5. Just re-watched trailer on laptop (was on phone before) - one of the characters (Chanter?) is level 6 so looks like Sky Dragon (that's its name in the trailer) is for mid level parties! Dragon hunting season is fast approaching
  6. Agree about NWN2 point. As for facing a dragon I think I took on BGII shadow dragon about level 10 or 11 which is in line with end levels of this game so mechanically it makes sense and I'm guessing for a lore / game setting perspective they've built in reasons too.
  7. The new environments are amazing. They've really outdone themselves. It captures the look of IE while improving upon it.
  8. New trailer is a hit! What a beast!! But a bigger hit is that $70 AU price tag! Good thing I backed this but man, imagine coming across this now? Definitely would wait for a future discount sale
  9. Very excited about the changes (especially XP changes). Thanks team!
  10. Agreed. I'll accept nothing beyond lance-corporal issues. 6_u Fingers crossed general bugginess won't be a problem
  11. I don't mind if there aren't too many non-party NPC portraits but please don't handle it like the below example which kinda ruined the whole experience for me: In BGII:ToB as soon as you get to Saradush this nice lady who cares about everyone and just wants to help so much has VO and a portrait.. 'little bit suss' I thought, 'not many minor characters have VO and a portrait.. there's something *off* about her.. Oh, it's Melissan, the main villain. Good. Glad we didn't give that away within 10 minutes of starting the game'.
  12. Well, i don't think the accomplishment should be in swinging the hammer, but in getting the components. Can't make a dragon scale shield without dragon scales. If you can just churn out enough +5 arms to equip your entire stronghold in a world where they should be rare, the gal or guy responsible for crafting or distributing crafting mats messed up and made them to easy to create. After all, if you can do that, why can't anybody else? Yes, completely agree with you, that was what I was trying to get at but I may not have explained it clearly. The accomplishment is in collecting the components and forging the weapon. I also liked the idea that one component could be used on different items, I know a couple items in ToB had this but can't remember their names. Say you find a powerful gem, do you upgrade your sword or your axe? I think it also helps to address the not every type of weapon has a end game super weapon version and allows you to forge one in line with your preferences so it's not like 'man I found this awesome spear... which no one has any proficiency to use / doesn't suit my party setup / play style / etc..'
  13. I'm all for this concept. I like two of the ideas from BG2. One being that you had components to forge certain weapons e.g. The Equalizer, Silver Sword, etc. and the other were the legendary types e.g. Carsomyr. Particularly because of the lore and the time and effort it took to acquire them. It does feel a little saturated with them by end game though. On the other hand I'm not keen on crafting at all, I don't like the idea of churning out +5 swords, spears, axes, etc. like it ain't nothing. The weapons should feel special and an accomplishment, not just clicking the crafting button.
  14. Yeah, I would've expected at least one for each type of planetouched in D&D. I'm biased though, because I really love Aasimar. They have to leave something for the expansion, don't they? I really like the godlike; their appearance, their lore, basically everything except the actual term 'godlike'. I think Obsidian have done an amazing job with this race / feature of PoE.
  15. Nail. Head. Just have the health/HP mechanic and the red starting from bottom up of character portrait - perfect! (Could also make ranger / animal companion easier to manage)
  16. I agree with some of the comments, the dungeons and monsters have more a very IWD feel then BG, for example the spiders. I prefer the BG style more, so the lean / mean comments make sense to me. Also noticed the blue circles under the characters can be changed to green which is awesome. I found the blue off putting.
  17. It looks like there's two types of portraits the standalone / IWD type ones and the modular / BG type ones. Neither is inherently bad, but mixed in together they lack cohesiveness and it looks jarring side by side.
  18. This really stood out in an obvious way and was very off putting. Hopefully it's a minor graphical thing and not present on other maps / areas
  19. "Also, why the pissing contest over which dev got more money?" Haha yes, great question.
  20. I understand what you're saying but I don't agree that sketches / drawings are the way to go. I want to see what my character will look like before I start the game proper
  21. I'm in the same boat, also want to back the project but only have access to PayPal.
  22. Agreed, IGN video is better and her enthusiasm is infectious. Hmm, I noticed the deliberate wording too. Maybe we're over thinking it, maybe not. Either way, please no surprise bear companions (BG2:EE)
