  1. If you don't want to drag your feet too much at the end there are two automatic savegame points at the citadel that you can hijack and rename to Save_00xx.pcsav to load it up Again.
  2. I don't quite understand what the purpose of the U.S. patent system is about, except trying to make others pay for their own inventions, rip-off, because it seems to be revolving more around describing how to do something that's been done already rather than actually inventing something. Both of these patent claims are of a later date than any talking heads and lip syncing I have seen. I would be nice to see what the patent is about in detail.
  3. Those combat jingles in Deus Ex was pretty cool. I remember I tried to record the music from the game to make some mixes and extended versions, but the jingles were really too short to avoid sounding monotonous outside of the game. Later I discovered that all the tracks were available in some folder on disc or cd, but I just happened to like my own recordings better because the game itself was adding some noise of its own that made it sound more dynamic and cool. Soundtracks are nice and Vampire Bloodlines have a lot of cool ones, but I am more attracted to the combat jingles. I played a game in the mid nineties I think, called In Pursuit of Greed or just "Greed". It was very light entertainment with very poor graphics, doom-clone'ish like so many other games were called at that time, but the music was really nice and made it endurable and all the tracks was in some midi format that could be played on WinAmp, but apparently it doesn't seem to be working that way or I just forgot what player I really used for it. Think it's called MODPlug or something, yeah that's it. 'Unfortunately' it doesn't loop the samples in the same way as in the game, but just play them all sequentially I think. Some tracks by Necros: Isotoxin, Escape, Research Base and a lot of other untitled tracks I don't recall having heard in the game, but they remind me a lot of the theme music in Deus Ex. Unfortunately the one track that made the biggest impression on me is not in the list. It had some electronic voice saying "Elite Force".. as I was fighting some giant robots who also added some sound to the mix. This version of Isotoxin is clearly taken from the intro, but the game itself doesn't match the graphics here, unfortunately. http://youtu.be/kXtukCYZdis Isotoxin and a lot of other tracks by Necros from In Pursuit of Greed also seems to have been included in other games apparently (Unreal Gold, Crusader No Remorse). I just noticed that, when I was searching for some of the tracks on YouTube.
  4. It couldn't have been worse than crash landing on the collectors homebase.. And they managed to fix that AND make a sequel.
  5. Haven't touched Origin or ME3 for quite some time. Did some ME3 multiplaying a few months ago, but was mostly unaware of any new additions. Origin is pretty useless to me after I moved to Ukraine, because everything is in Russian and there is no way to change it in settings. I can change the menu language and menu related things, but not the location or preferred shop language. Pretty much the same thing with the EA homepage. Ffffeh.. So I just added the Extended Cut to ME3, because neither PayPal nor any of the other options work, and had a hard time putting up with the slow drag of the ending, this game is really pissing me off on so many levels, glad it's over (mostly), and then I realized that the game makes an autosave before the end, that I could simply rename to my last save and thus I managed to overcome the slow-mo three more times to see it all. Not extended, but partially expanded and recycled at least once.
  6. Why do you need to upgrade There were some nice small dots included with my A4-Tech X7 for just a case like that where the sticker would be worn down.. Maybe you were not so lucky, that Logitech had that foresight and customer service at the time, but maybe you could be. Why not look for new bumber stickers to add to the bottom?
  7. All that I get from that link is "Product Not Found".. Yep, I wouldn't buy that either. I sincerely doubt that you can get a silent system without a bit of tinkering, but it might be that you just have to switch the CPU and GFX cooler and leave the rest as it is. Maybe noise is not a concern for you? $1200 for just a tower, that could be a really nice upgrade.. if you go old. I would go for a massive SSD solution, which would detract a considerable amount from those $1200 and a fairly nice gfx card too. I saw a british shop online with some nice setups, sort of, but what part of the world do you live in?
  8. Just checking to see if my IE10 has finally lost its nuts and bolts and decided simply to stop working. A newline here just because it's so fun to enter something, which seems to be a big problem to detect for some odd reason. And another.. Just for the sake of curiosity about how the editor will display it. This is what I did for a few minutes today..
  9. Aaargh.. Ffs.. Well.. okay.. Small problem with this editor in Windows 8 Pro IE10.. Tried to enable the virtual keyboard, but that didn't solve anything other than adding a weird post here.. I have to paste newlines from Wordpad here.. I've been using Windows XP for about ten years, but when I saw that I could get the Windows 8 Pro online for $39.95 I ran out of objections. First I tried the Upgrade Assistant which informed me about the incompatible parts and provided links for upgrades, which was pretty neat. I bought it online last thursday and installed it. It was just like buying a game for Steam. Nice and smooth installation, but I was a bit confused about the general lack of choices and especially the lack of a 32/64bit choice and I thought maybe it's all 64bit now.. But unfortunately it turns out that the lack of choice is because the online version is 32 bit only and to install the 64 bit version you need it on DVD.. Guess I kind of missed that part, so I now I still got nine GB's of unusable memory. So far I've seen a few improvements, but I generally find the lack of a Start button to be very annoying and I haven't figured out how to customize the interface yet apart from restoring my toolbar option.. I've just added a Start button, which brings back some Windows XP flavour, but it's not native to the system and the version I found isn't quite as easy to use as the original. I generally avoid the Metro interface and spend most of my time in Desktop mode. There is just something about that Metro interface that fills me with strange sense of claustrophobia.. I just can't breathe in that environment and the way I have to shut down this beast.. There are so many menus.. Well my internet speed has doubled.. And both my CPU and my GFX runs much cooler and more efficient than on Windows XP. I can still run all my old DOSBox games and even OpenTTD.
  10. Apart from Hell freezing over a lot has happened on that day since 106 BC, but at the specific date and year of my birth Wiki only reports the birth of two actors and one actress and the death of one british misssionary. So.. the answers would be apparently, grim and no.
  11. Been playing a bit of Dungeon Siege 3 and made a change that cornered me quite unexpectedly. After completing the game a few times with Katharina and Rheinhart I got tired of Hardcore with Anjali and started a new game with Lucas, but at the very beginning I got bored with the thought of playing the whole intro over again so I gave him 200K exp at the Montbarron Estate thinking that I would be able to breeze through the first chapter, but I realized pretty soon that the game uses level scaling for all the npcs and that changed the difficulty setting from normal to impossible. Even at the casual setting it was much worse than hardcore, because even though Lucas was level 22 he was still using the base equipment and was severely lacking both hitpoints, critical chance and damage for that level. After several failed attempts of dealing with Lescanzy road brigands I made a run for Ravens Rill, but made the unfortunate discovery that shops doesn't use level scaling. The shop was full of low level junk. Back to hit and run until I got a nice blue drop a Zweihander of Life stealing, that finally enabled me to do some real damage, but I was still not able to sustain any damage. It wasn't until I got a companion that I was finally able to quit the hit and run style that had kept me alive and was able to survive any group of enemies consistently. I don't think I have seen that many high grade grey items before. Took me a really long time to find some stamina equipment to match the damage levels of the Lescanzy mercenaries. Now I've been on a harvest in the East Forest below the Rukkenwal Chapterhouse. Delaying the completion of the actual quest and just clearing out the forest, save and reload and do it again, but for a long time I got nothing but swords, shields and items I couldn't use. Armor was really far apart, but now I finally got some real equipment, but I have actually grown quite fond of the casual setting, because I got time to learn to play with all the skills and made them work together.. Think I've spend at least six hours in this forest..
  12. I got ME on Steam, ME2 on DVD and ME3 on Origin.. I only need to buy ME2 (again) on Steam to have them all in the cloud. I kind of wish I could have ME3 on Steam as well, because the Origin server doesn't seem to be working so well around these parts. There is an insane amount of lag in the ME3 menus and everything related to the storefront for the ME3 multiplayer even though the game in itself seems to be working flawlessly. Maybe Origin is not really to blame, but I don't really like the design of it either. All the menus are in danish, but the store is using some geo-ip tracking to display it all in russian, guess I won't be buying any games on origin, nor the ME Trilogy which seems to be on sale already. I used to love having boxes and all the goodies inside, but after the trouble I had moving to Ukraine and around the country I don't like having luggage at all. I wish I could transfer my bed to a pink fluffy cloud as well and just plugin to sleep.
  13. Working and wondering how the hell I am going to credit anyone for the time I just spend doing practically nothing about a very urgent project I am working on.. It was so easy in the days when I was just an employer and got a fat fixed salary on a monthly basis no matter how absent, sick or efficient I was, but now I have to be .. erm .. aware of what I am doing and make invoices for the work I did.. I just want to sleep.
  14. Hmm.. Good advice. It's odd that I never really thought about changing the fan of the PSU. It's just something I never dabbled in maybe because of all these big annoying stickers about warranty and erm.. uh, other risks. Besides I think I forgot to post my stuff: Case: Aerocool VS-9 PSU: Chieftec CFT 650 14CS (650W) Mobo: ASUS Sabertooth X58 CPU: Intel Core i7 960 Ram: 3x4GB Corsair XMS3 DDR3-1600 GFX: PowerColor AMD HD6930 1GB HDD: Seagate Momentus XT 500GB Snd: Onboard Realtek + Microsoft LiveChat LX-2000 Monitor: Fujitsu-Siemens Amilo SL3260W Mouse: A4-Tech X7 XL-750BH Keyboard: Microsoft Wired Keyboard 600 I removed my Creative X-Fi XtremeGamer, because when I was dealing with the initial heat and noise of my 'new' GFX the layout of the ASUS Sabertooth X58 didn't leave me much choice to keep it. I had to move the GFX to the first PCI-E slot, which unfortunately overlaps the only PCI slot on this motherboard.. and because.. I am lazy I haven't switched it back. Besides.. My cheap, but useful supermarket Lumatronic 5.1 surround sound system has suddenly stopped working, which means I am now using that Microsoft LiveChat LX-2000 which I actually acquired, because it's got a long arm for the microphone and thus I am able to wear the mic around my neck without using it as a headset. Unfortunately the LX-2000 hurt my ears and is almost completely unbearable after about an hours use.. So I've pretty much stopped listening to music and only use it for business calls. Not much use for a Creative X-Fi XtremeGamer under such conditions. I have generally had enough of cheap Samsung DVD drives, which barely last for a year before they get into trouble with everything, that cause you to check and clean it all in between all the kumbayahs you have to perform to keep frustration in check, that you can't play this movie or old game. Now I've just got an external usb DVD drive, with a pretty long cable, which is quite nice, because I can keep my case away and my DVD on the table at the same time. I am starting to think, that it would actually be nice to have a box on the table that combines USB sticks and so one, because despite how nice some cases can be not all are that nice and all mostly noisy on some level. If I by the means of USB can remove all the things that require me to have my case around I could actually just keep it outside or somewhere else, underground or encased in concrete, where I can neither see nor hear it. Maybe I could simply put it into a freezer and be done with thoughts about cooling systems and considerations about switching to water cooling. That's probably too much work. Good ideas, thwarted by laziness. I'll just replace that fan on the PSU.
  15. Internet breeds a lot of things. I don't think I would post anything without it. Imagine sending letters to forums.. Buying stamps, making hand written letters, fixing mistakes, more mistakes, rewriting the whole thing.. Okay, erm, on to something else. I find that review scores, expressed by numbers alone are really bad icons to represent quality. Sometimes good games get lower scores, because they got bugs or minor flaws, while average games get the same score just by being stable. It also seems to me that some reviewers tend to grade higher for great graphics and music scores rather than for great content, which seems to be quite superficial and useless to me unless that is the selling point. Some review sites have user scores along side editor scores, which is despite the nonsensical number system something that I value higher. I don't think great sales for a product that was introduced by massive publicity can always be all good, because there are bound to be a number of people who got sucked in, that would have ignored it otherwise and in that case it's really only a tribute to the marketing service. Hmmm.. Btw, I am not sure why it's such an issue to you to have rational discussions always, because quite often you can have both, maybe not in the same place, and the ones where you can't (have rational discussions) can actually be pretty funny and entertaining to read too.. Besides I think that first impressions are usually quite tempi.. tempo.. GRRR.. hehe, temperamental - and not wrong to be so, but it can be a bit confusing sometimes, especially if you expect to find someone of a more repressed nature. I used to bitch and whine about a game for hours until I started to like it and were able to be rational about it, but I am trying not to, because some people just don't get the flow. This repression thing is kind of new to me, still, but I think I handle it pretty well. Of course it's easier to appear sane and rational if you don't post your frustration all the time, hey, maybe that's the solution to fanboyism.. Some little time consuming and tranquilizing riddle that you have to complete before you can post.. Maybe about rules and conduct, hmmm, nah too boring.
  16. Just play the whole game and eventually you'll get that old skool experience crawling under your skind and then you can try to be good, evil and sort of in between to get it all, because it isn't really possible to get it all just by one play through or by doing it right, because that's a question of alignment.. What's right for one aligment could be wrong for another. Playing as a mage too is definitely quite an experience because some of the spells are executed.. erm, totally awesome.
  17. Yeah, me too, but apparently not whole heartedly as I got all the DLC's but only played OWB, because that's.. erm, hmm.. the part I love.
  18. Ukraine is fooling me too much. Everytime I see a nice and delicious looking cake and think it must be whipped cream or soufflé in the middle it's cheese.. Yuck. I love cheese, especially the strong one, but I also like whipped cream and fromage in my cakes. It's a bit odd, but my hunger for (real) cheese, sweets and whipped cream is constantly growing around here..
  19. Well, those of us who are old enough remember a time when Danes would consider anything more than a pinch of salt or pepper added to your food "excessively spicy". Time to move where the pepper grows (Danish saying, doesn't translate well) How is life treating you in your new country Jan? Yeah, well, danes are probably not known for being among the most spicy in the world, but we are sort of known for being 'rounded' by cream and mayonaise, milk, honey and sugar coated and we do have a more varied taste than what is generally known in Ukraine. The candy is generally sweet and quite boring in Ukraine.. I tried to introduce the concept of liqourice and salty liqourice and there wasn't a single one of them that were able to stomach it.. I think the notion of sweets not being sweet is a bit too much for them to grasp. My wife is a bit surprised that her whole family and all of her friends seem to love me already, but maybe that's because I don't speak russian yet and mostly just smile and nod. Ukraine is actually a pretty nice place, apart from the mosquitos, the roads and the language, lots of trees and green areas to make up for all the grey concrete and I like the day to day anarchy, but there are parts of the bureaucratic system who still haven't realized that the U.S.S.R. colllapsed a long time ago. I read some horrible reports of corruption and abuse in relation to foreigners before I came, but I haven't really noticed anything, apart from the political corruption, where the city only evolve in ways where the local politicians either have a business or a financial interest. People are generally quite nice, but the majority of the drivers are completely insane and there are so many Ladas here.. But also quite a lot of really luxurious cars.. and they pretty much all use dark toned windows. Some people really make money here, but the great majority is quite poor and prices for busses and metros are really low and there is a hell of a lot of small box shops, that all got a bit of the same products in common with a few to set them apart.
  20. I really like the S.T.A.L.K.E.R series, but I must add that it's also because of the russian language in game that I find it really refreshing.. American english can be so boring.. I don't understand a word of russian and that is erm, quite nice actually, but there is a lot more of it in the first game. The only thing that I find to be quite unnerving is the difficulty levels and the additional effects that apply to them, especially in the Clear Sky. I played the first one (Shadows of Chernobyl) both stalker and later veteran, but I had to drop to novice in the second one (Clear Sky), because all of the bleeding and stuff like that which got me killed too much while I was sniping targets, forgot to pay attention.. that was really quite annoying. I was back to the stalker setting in the third one (Call of Pripyat).
  21. I think "fanboy" is just a negative profiling that you apply to someone who is not mature enough to back out of the silly discussion that you should never have been a part of and has a different opinion than you and refuse to embrace the things you find to be annoying to be really that annoying for them as well, because they are obviously willing to overlook some things that you find to be completely unacceptable, because they add more value to other things than you. I think first impressions are very important and if they played a sequel of games in a different order than you it's quite likely that there will be a lot fanboy name droppings, especially if the games were made by different developers.. I don't really think it's fair to point out lacking maturity levels by calling someone a fanboy. I guess "you will learn", "you are still young", "grow up ffs".. could be uuuuuuh, not really used either unless followed by a smiling smilie. Taste is such a hard thing to agree about, but ít sounds to me like you are actually referring to noobs, which is.. erm, just as bad, or in reality much worse really, actually. Grammar.. semantics.. Ugh. I like periods, especially the big round ones, but these are all so small.. --- I wasn't as conscious about ME3 choices as I got after visiting this forum. There were a lot of things that annoyed me, when I played it, but it was mostly on a subconscious level apart from a relatively few WTF's outburst. If ME3 had been a sequel to a game without any choice at all I think it would have been pretty nice with only a few choices, but with the first impression of ME1 still in mind as well as other previous games by Bioware it felt really dumbed down on so many levels that it was ultimately quite unacceptable, but it was a slippery slope from the beginning.. Actually from the second after.. The second game after, I mean. Somehow I find it much easier to adapt to positive trends than negative ones especially in games. Maybe it's part of getting old..er or just erm, natural. And erm, I kind of forgot the point why I was adding this, so erm, now for something completely different - on topic or slightly away but kind of close, relatively speaking. I haven't played the TOR MMO myself, but I realize that the world of gaming is constantly changing and that the gamer generations change as well, because people change and times are changing and blah-blah-blah (of course). I just don't think that making a game that is true to the original Star Wars would have been possible or likeable.. Actually I am not sure what level such a game should adhere too, because a game made true to that time wouldn't have been fun at all. The two games that Bioware and Obsidian added, namely the Knights of the Old Republic are totally awesome compared to the previous games, which were basically just action shooters with light sabers. I am referring to Star Wars: Dark Forces and Star Wars Jedi Knight (Dark Forces 2). I guess that assessment also kind of makes me a fanboy, because I obviously prefer choice and dialogue over constant action shooting.. I didn't like any of the new Star Wars movies, because of some of the worst acting ever, I would have turned to the Dark Side in the first game just to be rid of Ewan McGregor as Obi-wan and without Harrison Ford as Obi.. Erm, Wan.. Uh, names.. Han Solo! I sincerely doubt I would have liked the Star Wars movies at all.. Well, maybe except for the toys that I never got to play with.. Erm, Same as above. I'll just insert a line somewhere and decrease font-size. And blah-blah-blah just for the sake of adding annoying text scrolling down or up or beyond the screen.. in the Star Wars way.
  22. Made pancakes with strawberry icecream for my mother in law, my wife's niece, my wife and a few for myself with my new recipe with strawberry milk and vanilla and got some worship.. Then I made some special tea with a mix of lemon, cinnamon and vanilla and hailed another standing ovation.. I am truly puzzled by the ukrainian lack of creativity in regards to taste.. The other day my wife made a soup with the chanterelle mushroom, but she mixed it in such a way with a ton of vegetables and potatoes that it lost all of it's distinctive taste. The soup was sort of nice, but it could have been really great. I suspect that Borsch became a name by accident of the same mixing culture that seems to rule most of their meals. At least that is really nice.
  23. That would be one of the greatest paradigm shifts in humanity. No longer there would by any kind of "us & them", there would be no group-formations, no competition, nothing to compare to, no judgment or acknowledgement. Everyone would be an atom of thought in a sea of minds for common goal, which sounds waaay to Asimovian sci-fi for me. Dissolution or one classless borderless cultures complete world wide domination. Could have been much simpler than sci-fi. Could have been a world where the USSR had expanded it's borders to the whole wide world.. Not saying anything about tolerance or state of happiness. Obviously there would have to be a lot of limitations of personal freedom, environment, faith, joy and entertainment to keep everyone equal.. Would probably take several centuries of education and mixing genes before we were all one race.. Might work.
  24. Only have a few games available now, the ones on Steam, the one on Origin and some old dosbox games, since I had to leave all the original boxed games in my old country. Played a bit of ME3 Multiplayer and realized that I had almost forgotten how to play it.. but it came back and I was entertained for awhile, before the design and anonimity started to annoy me. I don't know where the EA server is, but there is some serious lag issues between here and there, but it's mostly in the menus, that I find it really unacceptable. Then I found Transport Tyccoon on disk in the OpenTTD version and played a hundred years more. That is really addictive and time moves so fast, both in game and in real time, it's afternoon and my time just ZOINK and then it's dark and the missus calls me from the bedroom.. Been playing this old game, it's 2498 and even though transport technology has been dorment for more than uh.. several hundreds of years I still find it challenging to shape the world and to change and try new routes.
  25. It seems that my move to a different country has opened some new doors (while closing others). I got myself a new (relatively speaking in context with an ATi HD 4850) graphics card; the AMD HD 6930, which is a special version that was launched quietly by AMD for the chinese and russian markets. As far as I understand it's a card with a few defects, that keeps it away from being a full 6950/70. The only real minus about his cheap card, that cost me €140, is that the twin cooling system is insanely noisy, even at the lowest setting the cooler is clearly audible in the mess of my new Airport PSU, but fortunately the Artic Accelero Twin Turbo I had on my HD4850 fits the HD6930 as well. It's a rather big minus in a way considering that it looks like a pretty good cooler shamed by a horribly noisy twin cooling fan. I wish there were custom fans for PSU's as well, because that big 140mm fan on the Chieftec 650 CS14 is a hell of a lot more noisy than I thought it would be with such a big fan. Now I just need to add a big SSD, but unfortunately that was one of the doors that closed.
