  1. I am no gondola-gukker-upper. I am just a site-shait-sitter. Keeping things smooth and functional.

  2. Experts, pfth!! They are right about one thing. Diet is no good. Face it. You eat boring food for awhile and you go nuts. You need to make a permanent change of food that is both delicious and healthy and you need to eat more often and eat less to keep up your metabolism. There is a lot of boring food, that can be turned delicious in the right hands, but finding those hands can be quite hard. I am quite tall, 205 cm. I lost 55 pounds (25 Kg) after six months of marriage from 135 Kg to 110. I wasn't on a diet, but change of environment, food and natural exercise did the trick. In short: Sex and Salad. Well, it wasn't all Salad, but the change away from fast-food, butter, cream and candy made a huge difference as well as the daily bed exercise. I also got rid of Psoriasis. I know now my body limits and that my Psoriasis is actually a warning sign posted by my body telling me that my condition is too stressful for the body to handle, but no one ever told me that in Denmark. None of the nurses, doctors or specialists told me that I had to lose weight to regain the balance of my body - they were all too happy writing recipes for insanely expensive cream and medicine that threw me even more off balance.
  3. A native nutcase with some serious social problems that has been ignored so far and who was released from prison two weeks before, goes on a killing spree and the response is to waste $150,000,000.00 on anti-terrorism with more intelligence gathering, more training and equipment? That sounds reasonable to you? Problem is it was not an act of terrorism, but it has certainly become an act of politicism and spin totally out of control. "Copenhagen police said the suspected gunman who was born and raised in Denmark was already "on the radar" of the intelligence services that they were investigating whether he had travelled to conflict zones such as Syria and Iraq." They already had him on the radar. Apparently there is absolutely nothing wrong with the current level of intelligence.. The most crazy response from the Israeli Prime (with a little extra spin from some journalists to ensure higher rating, I think): 'Jews are on the front lines of this war'After the fatal attacks in Copenhagen, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu called for a 'mass immigration' of European Jews to Israel. DW spoke with two Jewish leaders about the threat to Europe's Jewish community. Reading through it all from that source, which seems rather questionable to me. It really sounds like a movie, where you'd expect some conspiracy with a politician pulling strings to add the sympathy for extra funds and voting power.. I am sure that World War III is just hanging around the corner and his public name is Omar Has Bin Jensen or something.
  4. That's crazy. Some nutcase goes berzerk and instead of improving the handling of nutcases they turn it into an act of *cough*racism*cough* terrorism. There is so much fantasy in this, including the other links in that article, that it's beginnning to sound like a script for a movie.
  5. Corruption? Erm.. That's capitalism. It's quite natural. People have to make a living. Don't you think, that people that provide a service that add value to your life should receive some form of payment for it? Imo, F2P is like playing a demo. If you like it, stay and pay.
  6. I am not sure I like history or if there really is any. In general it only seems to be useful in regards to education and entertainment, but is easily forgotten in context with conflicts and blodshed. In regards to gaming it probably serves in the same way. As long as it's a peaceful level-headed discussion everything is good, but once daycare and kindergardens close and the fanboys come home and disappear into their computers and derail it into something completely different. If you are making a thesis about patterns and alignments with other social, mental, spiritual and technological advancements.. Well.. erm.. I tend to think of the gaming industry as one big blob that learn and evolve by past victories and failures and thus I find repetition of failures or lacks of successes years later to be even more frustrating. Psychologically my naivety could be probably be explained in concepts from early stages of infantil evolution from symbiosis to autonomy being a bit messed up. Unfortunately it's not. Companies cripple competition and evolution with patents and intellectual properties. I guess that's more anal-retentive, but not on my part. Imagine what would have happend if Phil Collins had put a patent on that special drum sound he made or if other musicians put patents on every stroke and effect.. Shame on you game industry, bad, bad, bad. It kind of ruins the natural progression with roadblocks like that.. Lately I've played some remakes, remastered and retro'ed games and I enjoyed it mostly, but I feel a level of contemporary retardism, the pull of the New Dark Ages, that has affected me and made me less tolerant and forgiving to certain things. There are mechanics, that offset the natural flow, distract me and catch me completely unprepared. I have gotten used to a level of hand-holding, that doesn't exist in early history of gaming. Suddenly I die, I forgot to save and the game didn't do it for me. It never used to be a problem, but now it is, because I got too lazy and complacent, because of yada-yoda-and-so-on-mentioned-above. Lots of old games have a remarkable level of freedom in every way that is really missing from this deca.. millenium, which only seems to have improved visually, sexually and orally. Not that much sexually really, still no three-somes in BioWare games. Sucks. Anyway. More polish, more eye-candy and ear-candy too, but more invisible walls, less freedom and much less core gameplay mechanic. The blob is split and confused and I pay to play every mistake. Somehow games gets much bigger and smaller at the same time. They take up more space, but without adding room for it. More gigs (GB's), less gigs (!). Ugh.
  7. There is no save or reload button in real-life even though I have dreamt it sometimes early in the morning.. Like making a mental save, before I need to wake up and if I miss the alarm I just can reload. Didn't work.
  8. They should really get off the numbers, like they did with Windows XP and be a bit more innovative with names.. 7, 8, 9.. but they still got 1989 numbers before they have to reconsider.. colliding with Windows 2000.
  9. Keeping the spirit of the inquisition, that was very inquisitive of you, but.. I don't smell anything burning nor do I hear anyone screaming. Odd. Maybe there is soundplug missing here.
  10. Obviously, Wasteland 2 first, because it's been the longest missed and I am a backer. There is no number 2 or 3 only 9 and 10, perhaps not even that.
  11. I finally got myself cornered by a failing harddrive and got one more bullet to hit a SSD as my replacement. I still use 'sleep' a lot, but it's kinda not that needed anymore, because my system is pretty much just as fast to start from a cold boot.. It's just that I got all those programs running that makes me continue using sleep. Aerocool VS-9 (Swiss cheese tower) Chieftech CFT 650 14CS (Modular) ASUS Sabertooth X58 i7-960 12 GB DDR3 1600MHz Tripple-channel kit. PowerColour AMD HD 6930 1GB (Special Russian/Chinese edition) with Arctic Accelero Twin Turbo. Plextor M5S SSD 256 GB Seagate Momentus XT 500 GB (failing boot, using the rest as storage) Games fare much better on the SSD with less stuttering in games.
  12. Random loot is both a blessing and a curse.. SOMEBODY STOP ME!!!! Anyway, that's what made me buy the damn game, thank you for wasting 128 hours of my life. Much appreciated, but my wife hates you. The game is really huge and awesome, but I don't think I'll play it again. Somehow The End feels like a punishment.
  13. Thanks, I wish we would get input from people living there more often. So you believe the disturbances in south east Ukraine are being blown out of proportion by the media? In addition, what exactly do you mean by "responsibilities inherent to the budget deficit", though? I'm really interested because it's something that's deeply ingrained in the austerity discourse, but in my experience, it amounts to "cut down on welfare, because". Can you shed some light on the fiscal situation of Ukraine and the measures announced by Kiev? What is the really unjustifiable public spending that absolutely must go to <insert meaningless economic jargon> the economy? Not being able to read Russian or Ukrainian, it's difficult to see the whole picture. That's a big turd, that I will have to give some thought, but I am afraid I am too busy now. I'll be back.
  14. I guess you need to have your natural eyes replaced with optical neural enhancers to catch all the frames per second, but if you are even thinking about paying $3000 for a gfx, then you probably got that fixed already..
  15. Well.. It's a little strange to hear about all this turmoil, because around here, everyone is minding their own business, but the media (any media from any country) has (always had) a tendency to blow everything out of proportion and a lot of people are ready to believe it, because the situation is actually pretty bad. I know that Crimea is a very seasonal place with no real economy other than tourism in the summer time. There is usually a massive invasion of Russians in the summer time which infllates the prices and makes it too expensive for 'normal' Ukrainians to go there. On the other hand there are also lots of pensioneers there and with the chaos in Ukraine and with the delays of their pensions they got worried of course and the only thing that matters to anyone here is money. Doesn't matter where they come from or whose picture is on the note as long as it's valid. They panicked and someone was pushing them too. There were some really crazy propaganda at work to ensure the outcome of that vote. Apparently there is a growing number of people who would gladly join Russia to dodge the responsibilities inherent to the budget deficit and whatever other action that would just fix it, but I don't see it, everyone around here where I live are too busy trying to make a living to make time for protests. It must be some very privileged people that can afford to spend so much time causing riots and they are all too happy about shouting and complaining and doing nothing to fix anything and most likely sponsored by the Russian Tsar (Putin). Maybe it makes sense, because a lot of the former U.S.S.R. leaders came from Ukraine and they have a strange fondness of totalitarian regimes. It's actually a pity for Ukraine about the collapse of the U.S.S.R. because it was the only time they were brought together to act like one people and work together, but it also gave rise to the present situation partially caused by the Russian presence from immigration, which was quite normal, when it was part of the U.S.S.R. and the former government who drove the country into ruin - also sponsored by Putin. I think that little KGB dude is still working in his original field and I am afraid that he might be successful with his schemes to force the Ukrainians into joining Russia. There is really a nation-wide father/mother figure absent here.
  16. I thought Dragon Age was pretty funny and for a moment I was happy in thought that BioWare had finally ditched that completely ridiculous and absurd idea about monogamous relationships and it was just a moment of time before I could finally have that perfectly natural nice three-some, but then the witch who were all about liberal passion of the moment in the beginning was suddenly about twosome non-sharing-ness.. WTF??! And then it was all just work to finish it.. It was really nice that the main character had no voice, but absolutely terrible that it was delivered so quick and anonymous and without history that it felt like I was back in Halflife with a hairy scientist shouting in my ear to push the damn button..The only thing I like about ME3 was the MP in solo on Titanium. Quick and painful.
  17. 1) What? Dialogue is not an element of a CRPG? Is your character mute or something? 2) Limitations. You can't have true freedom in a CRPG. Heck, you can't even have it in a PnP one, since most DM's can't or won't generate endless content as you constantly avoid their plot hooks.. 1. No, my character is not mute, but I think dialogue in most cases is an element of Adventure, about curiosity and entertainment and advancing the story, not about defining your character except in the rare cases where you sell one of your companions into slavery or you decide to double cross another party or something 'nice' like that. Otherwise it's just filler content and that's not RPG, but entertainment and that can be pretty good too, except when it happens without choice like in the awful ME3. Character defining moments is more like exit points in dialogue until you return to butter someone up to make them give you what they want and while you do that there are no options to 'pretend' to be nice. Sometimes lie options are included, but it's too rare. Acts of intimidation are neither good nor evil, but a means to an end that will define you. When forms of companion 'loyalty' suddenly enters the scene, the RPG is disrupted as well, because all of a sudden it becomes a game about maximizing their affection for you, because only then do they really become useful in one way or the other and that's just manipulation, which has no side. Not saying that Good and Evil is the only thing defining a RPG, but unfortunately it is in most cases. Romances are even worse in regards to RPG, because it's all a matter of seduction and it becomes a seduction game, and in pretty much all BioWare games you are forced into monogamous relationships, because they are all borgs with shared consciousness or something weird like that.. And then we got those games that cheat with dialogue and give you some keyword or short meaningless version that doesn't match what is being said.. That form of dialogue is totally off the RPG table, imo. But everyone is entitled to their own opinion of course. I just think this. 2. That's what they want you to believe, those skinny little grey dudes with big heads, big eyes and weird voices, that visit you at night and probe you in weird places that makes it hard to sit down at work the day after at the same time as your underpants feel a bit sticky... Having a choice in regards to the game world itself in relation to what it adds to the table, that lets you pick a side and play it is quite possible and it happens, sometimes, but mostly it happens as an end result, as a summary in narrator mode. In KoTOR1 it happened a few times that I felt the game acknowledged my play and in the end I could pick side, but then it was kind of pointless. In KoTOR2 when I arrived at some planet and all the sith was forming a path of worship as I walked down to face the little bad mummy, that was cool.
  18. I guess I am too, but in a different way. I consumed all classes in one breathtaking moment, lasting three months, six months ago - I got big lungs - and as soon as all life had been completely consumed, I sat and shat and cancelled my subscription and I haven't touched it since. What's left are just snacks and I am on a diet.. besides I am slightly behind on my work schedule and it was driving my wife crazy too.
  19. Damn. I missed the D, but they should be compatible still at the lowest level with a possibly increased loss and interference. DVI-D has the same pins as DVI-I and then some extra to produce a better signal and higher res. Of course if that's not acceptable, then you need to do what AwesomeOcelot suggest, I guess. Also, it wouldn't really surprise me if some manufactures dropped the ball on backwards compatibility. Checking is always good.
  20. They don't share inventory and level of crafters with normal characters as far as I can tell.. which is probably part of the hardcore setting. Kind of makes sense.
  21. Actually, i used to have a KVM switch too and used those VGA-DVI adapters, that sometimes are included in the box with gfx cards, without issues, but it was a long time age, relatively speaking.
  22. It's a bit weird. I made a Hardcore character and completed the game once and then began all over on a new chapter. I was a bit surprised to realize that Hardcore characters doesn't share the inventory and levels of crafters so I had to build that up again. Got a lot of cool gear and then zoink I died, because I was down to half health, frozen and three fireballs waiting to explode in my face, but there was a split second between unfreeze and boom, where I missed the heal button.. But the really weird part is that, despite vesting about 24 hours of my time into this character, I didn't really bother me, at all. That really surprised me.. It's fun and entertaining and completely captivates me and waste my time without end once I start, but .. just weird.
  23. I was really annoyed by Alpha Protocol that got the worst dialogue system ever made in my humble opionion and mouse sensitivity was bad all around and made several things completely undoable, unplayable, impossible and the use of scripts that enabled me to totally bypass everything.. Something that calls itself an Espionage RPG, without having any features supporting that is quite shocking.. Unless something tickles into your mailbox, it's useless. Can't investigate any research by yourself and nothing to spy on. The game was, despite it's massive shortcomings, quite entertaining and frustrating and quite possibly the worst game I ever played, mainly because in some parts it was very good and in others it was bloody horrible. A game that constantly alienates you or just fail to interest you on the other hand, that you will never be fond of, can't really disappoint you in the same way as a game that endears you and then rips you off.
  24. I was playing Diablo 3 quite a lot for three weeks, dodging work and other things more important. My wife was pretty miffed about it. Maxed out all five characters and made it to Paragon level 24, before I had to pull the plug and forget about it, because it's really hard for me to let go once I begin. It's too entertaining for me to handle. Now I am back to good old Day of Defeat: Source again.
  25. I love adventure games and there is an abundance of Adventure games that are passed down as RPG's without being it, but as long my curiosity is sated and I am entertained I am jolly and dandy, when I am forced into hopelessly stupid and retarded dialogue however I lose interest. Pretty much all games I play seems to be about love and hate and learning about how not-to-play, generally speaking. I don't think dialogue is an element of CRPG, because it's all about mood and you don't step into character by words, but by action and there is rarely any choice in action. I still remember this scene from Bloodlines where someone begs for his life.. There was even such a moment for the Bounty Hunter on Hutta in SWTOR, that really haunted me. That's how it should be all the time, but it's all just cannon-foddering and rarely any gloating.. I don't think BioWares ME series is CRPG at all, but an Action Adventure, which is emphasized by the 'gamble' nature of dialogue i.e. if you don't know what you are saying how can you deliberately pick anything? (Rhetorical). ME1 is more adventure and ME3 is much more action.. Dialogues are just for laughs and ME1 made me laugh a few times, while both ME2 and ME3 was pretty yawnsome, on the fun factor, in comparison. Fallout 2 and BG are the only CRPG games I've ever played and Fallout 2 fails in the end and upon every encounter with the enclave, because it overrides your play and ties you into a fixed role. Fixed roles, to save the universe or your tribe or something else that ties you into a different role makes RPG fail. If you are worse than the bad guys and your actually on the same side, then why are you always opposed.. because of storyline and fixed dialogue..
