  1. Since I moved to Ukraine to marry my wife and live together.. Well.. I broke her bed, which was pretty rotten anyway and when we moved to our new apartment we put three resident single beds together and worked out a solution to fill out the gaps between them.. Not ideal, but it worked and still works. Today we went to a big furniture store to look for beds.. Matresses, but Ukrainians are unfortunately quite short in general and I need a mattress that is at least 220cm long.. There wasn't a single one in my size, of course.. So we were just testing the softness of mattresses.. I just find that testing a bed is really hard to do fully dressed and the ones we tried.. Hmmm.. Too hard. I am really tempted to have my perfect bed from Denmark moved here, but I really don't like to pay a minor fortune for delivery..
  2. I had more or less forgotten that I bought DS3 on Steam several months ago and gave it a spin. It was quite entertaining even though it also annoyed me immensely from time to time and my learning curve was actually pretty flat in intervals similar to staircase with some pretty long but steep steps. I finished the game with Katrina and it really annoyed me that most boss fights were in such small and secluded areas and that it took so long for her to switch from shooting to dodging and moving. Apart from the Dapper Old Gent I defeated most bosses by running around in circles and leave it to my companion to kill them with her feeble attacks. I thought the game was full of bugs until I realized that I was playing it wrong. The design annoyed me quite a lot and I still find the loot table to be outright horrible. A lot of equipment feels complete randomly generated and there are several items with different names that are identical. The things that Obsidian do well is done well.. The lore, story, dialogue and arts are pretty nice, the music is nice too, but the parts of the game, layout of stats, items, menus that is more utilitarian by nature is just plain horrible. First time I died I got a Saved game is corrupt and I thought wtf bloody hell, but nothing was wrong. I kept getting that even though nothing was wrong. I loaded my last save just fine. Think the game has an issue with Steam saves. The loot table is quite horrible, but I find it even more annoying that the Crit% and other stats are in a different menu than Equipment and in general I am baffled by the insane navigation through menus revolving around equipment.. The most challenging part of this game is to decide what to wear and what equipment to use and in most cases when I had an issue with a boss it could be resolved with a change of equipment. I wonder why none of the stats are interactive.. Would it be that hard to add a pop-up that explains what Warding and Retribution means? Maybe that was lost in time.. It's been quite a long time since Master of Magic that really did that well.. Yeah, probably lost in time, like me, no wait that's not dust it's this bloody psoriasis, phew. Not mummified yet, just a bloody annoying disease. What a relief.. and blah-blah-blah. But it was good to play!
  3. Lots of ideas here. That's what he asked for. Maybe the reason why the split doesn't work is because those four options are getting along so well, that they just don't want to be split.. Maybe they are currently discussing what ruleset they should use for their next adventure.. I suggest making a check for tabs before trying to split a string based on that. Make a regular expression and check to see if there any tabs in there or possible multiple spaces and apply the split based on what the result is. Could be tabs, could be spaces.. could it be love?
  4. As long as they don't swallow I think they'll be fine.. And that would probably be piracy if they did..
  5. Well.. I assume this is only a problem on public mmo servers, because I am part of a community where all the members make an effort to keep it mature on a friendly level.. Not to ban sexism or anything, but to keep it fun for all and to stop it or moderate once it gets out of control.. And we take care of those that can't figure out how to behave. There are lots of ways to deal with offenders.. Counter-abuse, slapping, crippling, mute, kick or ban. Sometimes it gets out of hand, but the nice and responsible part of being a community is that you can talk about how to deal with people and how to deal with them differently. I like voice chat, especially when playing with friends and interesting people and it's nice to be in a position where you can deal with people you don't like or you just get tired of the shrieking youth.. I didn't stop playing WoW because it was overrun by kids and teens too young to play.. I didn't really like the thought of being turned into a babysitter, that is really quite rude, but it's not the kids that is really to blame but the stupid parents that let them do it. Putting up with all the ads, spam and bs and so on was pretty annoying too, having to add some plugin to be rid of that was really quite absurd, but it wasn't until Blizzard ruined the game for me that I quit. I think part of the problem is that MMO's somehow forgot to mature.. The developers forgot to think about adding ways for the players to ensure a friendly atmosphere.. The forgot to include the mature players in the process.. Treating everyone equally only works, when everybody is actually equal.. It must be a little strange for a mmo developer to think that they also have a moral obligation towards players and that players have to commit themselves on a larger scale as well.. Can't keep being anonymous if you want to add more to the game than just playing it. I also used to play a mud with a few girls, no problems there, but it doesn't really surprise me that there other muds with problems. I tried a few others, that were either too strict or too loose. Finding the right one for you is not an easy task. Btw, Gamers Against Bigotry sounds pretty bad, imo.. Like some fanatic religious movement.. Somehow it reminds me about something from Dragnet. There was a young girl and a big snake.. Phew. I think I would choose a name that is more sweet and positive towards the end goal than one about what it shouldn't be, because if the name is too sharp and pointy it becomes a spear and end up impaling the wrong people. I just wonder what it is that you want.. Is it Gamers for Sweet Loving Gayness, Heterosexual Straightness and Metrosexual Everydayness or just Game-centric Gaming or something else which isn't really sweet and loving, but just sort of bland, boring and respectable?
  6. Commodore Vic-20.. No wait, it said computer. Atari ST FM 520.. No wait despite the usefulness of that MIDI marvel the thread also mentions specs.. Hm.. My first and last brand-pc computer was the AST Victor Bravo 386-SX 33MHz I got in 1993. I was a student and my wallet was pretty thin.. It had 2 MB ram, 110 MB HDD and a 14" monitor. It was about as useless as the Vic-20 and it was barely capable of doing anything more than wasting my time using the windows swap file. The first PC computer I build myself and actually enjoyed using was a DX4 100MHz with a Cirrus-Logic 5426 VLB in 1994.. When I switched to the Intel 166MHz MMX in 1997 I had 24MB of RAM for my DX4 and ran most games from RAM disk.. I've never had a motherboard that flexible before.
  7. A different ending wouldn't make it a better game. It's already botched in so many that it would be far too much work to make ME3 right. Besides Bioware has already paid and secured all the glowing reviews so.. well.. period.
  8. I sometimes use Metacritic as a shortcut to make an opinion. I read the best, the worst and the somewhat in between to form an initial opinion. I also read a few of the user ratings using the same pattern. Afterwards I wait for the price to drop. Tigranes, use the youtube Embed code.. and the Special BBCode Media. Like this.. http://youtu.be/ic6dKnv3WdU Edit: Yuck, Skyrim.. AAAARRRRGGHHHHHH!!!
  9. I've played Vanguard, Infiltrator and Engineer.. Tried my hand with Sentinel and Adept too, but they don't quite fit my playing style and I am already done with the game. It's depleted apart from a few minor romances, like the one with Miranda that I haven't seen the end of (unless that black out at the sexy part on the Citadel was 'it'), and I am not that big on repetition and there is just too much of that now. Engineer is a bit too much of a key hell and it's quite annoying that it doesn't have any ammo types associated by default. I would like not to spend my bonus power on ammo type. Only other thing that really bothers me is that none of the 'turrets' are as effective as the Cerberus Engineers Turret, but Sabotage makes fighting Cerberus quite effective.. The combat drone sometimes do harassment nicely. Just wait for the Cerberus Engineer to set up his little helper and have it blow him away with sabotage.. It's almost too easy fighting Cerberus and Geth for that matter as well. On Mars in the Turret room there is a 'crack' in the window that let you 'summon' a combat drone inside the 'fish tank' and for some reason Cerberus only knows how to open doors when they are going to shut them behind to keep you out.. The stupidity of the AI in this game is shocking at times.. But things get more messy vs. the Reapers in the end. The only thing that really annoy me isn't so much about the engineer, but the fact that most Heavy Pistols in general are heavier than SMG's and some Snipers. I like having a high Bonus Recharge Speed AND having a gun that can do some damage as well, which cuts it down to just one gun.. Mostly Sniper in my case.
  10. Getting tired with the lag of Bard's Tale I decided to try a bit of debugging and eventually I pulled out my ATi HD 4850 and put in the ATi X1950PRO which was quite a revelation. Bard's Tale is blazing fast with the X1950PRO in comparison to the ATi 4850 and there isn't a single drop of fps anywhere moreover there is even more graphics in the game with the X1950PRO. Bard's Tale requires a card that supports Vertex Shader 1.1 or higher, but the ATi 4850 got Shader Model 4.1 which doesn't support Shader Model 1. The X1950 got Shader Model 3 that is backwards compatible with all previous versions.. I am guessing that my ATi 4850 is too hard at work figuring out how to compensate for the lack of support of 1.1 to provide a suitable gaming experience.. Or maybe it's just the driver, because I had to roll back to a really old one with support for the X1950.. I'll fiddle that out later.
  11. Dusted off Bard's Tale (2005), which originally only lasted me for about 5 minutes, before I tired of the game. I was just going to get my facts straight for a comment in the Wasteland 2 Kickstarter thread, but it turned into quite a long fact gathereing.. The flaws of the game constantly pisses me off on so many levels and it's lagging like hell for some odd reason, but it's also quite amusing and entertaining. I got a feeling it's much more linear than it claims to be, because I've dodged several mission impossible parts of the game already that implies I am at the wrong place at the wrong time..
  12. Thank you. Sycophant Achievement gained. Wohooo!! That was the hardest achievement of them all for me and the least gratifying. Wonder why they scrapped the achievements of ME2, but that one would have been quite a thorn in the eye on that page anyway..
  13. Lots of valid points relatively speaking. They are right, but there is nothing wrong with being old, it's the best part actually apart from life getting shorter.. But still I wouldn't trade any part of my life for it, except the dead part.
  14. Ashley has been the most useless, petty, rigid and conservative character since the beginning.. Ever since she turned the offer of a threesome in ME1 she has been on my hatelist.. I wish I could have saved her from a gruesome end by shooting her myself. The only time I 'endured' her was the time I 'dated' her, which is pretty much everything she is about. She is eye candy, like one of those bitter acid drops, that you only suck on because it's got a delicious filling, which unfortunately is spent a lot faster than the bad taste in the beginning.. I think the count of times with 'new' dialogue is probably about the same as previous games, but because it's spend so fast with so few choices in the process just makes it feel a helluva lot less.. I think it's sort of okay in principle, that instead of giving me the same old dialogue options I get some dismissive hit and run 'floating text', when they have nothing else to say, but I think it's much worse when Shepard replies back in the same fashion, because there is too little choice in dialogue already. Compared to ME1/ME2 there is only about 10% of all of Shepards dialogue, which is a matter of choice and it happens quite often that there is no choice at all.. So yeah, they really dropped the ball on dialogue.. I think the reason there is any choice at all is mostly just for old times sake or as kind of punishment.. Sometimes I just want to nap on the keyboard and wake up to some action, but then they put one of those few choices in between two cutscenes to make me endure more of that passive spectator play.. I guess I could put the game in 'action' mode, but that's just.. I.. hng.. Too much (read: too little). Full Choices: "All conversations require participation. No choices are made for you." - That's obviously a matter of interpretation, because in 90% of the cases where Shepard got a line someone decided that you shouldn't have that as a choice, but the few choices you do get, well, uh.. you get those - even though they have been reduced as well.. Instead of getting three choices on the right, there is mostly only two.. And 'participation' in itself is quite anal-retentive like "you did start the game yourself didn't you?".. Hmmm.. Maybe it's because I don't use XBOX Kinetic, that the game fails to notice that I sit with my arms crossed 90% of the time of every conversation.. I often nearly miss out on those blinking Renegade and Paragorn options, because I am half asleep from inactivity.. I wish there was a visible count down timer for next 'participation'.. That way I could plan my time better, go to the toilet, make coffee, talk to my gf and all kinds of other things while the game plays itself relentlessly.. If only it was funny to review on replay.. If only they would show some random footage of development, casting, voice recording, cut parts or goof points, while I am waiting for all those repetitive. predictable and unavoidable parts of the game to finish playing.. Could just be like a semi transparent pop up window in the foreground.. That would be nice as a bandage. If only Bioware was into making nice with choices.. and blah-blah-blah. Ugh. This game is a wound that won't stop bleeding..
  15. And then you kind of went to war with your father..
  16. She created you in ME2 (with some help), didn't she?
  17. I don't know if there are any Tintin games, but I think they would probably be more like Adventure games. RPG of a comic seems a bit odd as it would be akin to playing Shepard in ME, somehow. The character is just too fixed in his ways already and with full voice over it's just a bit too hard to imagine it differently.. I also mean that if a developer was going to make the transistion the publisher would be all over them to ensure the integrity of their IP. Well, maybe, except for Donald Duck who aspire to be everything else than a poor unlucky loser.. There once was a danish cow-punk band called "Disneyland After Dark", until they had to change it for some reason, but I think it would be fun to see a RPG set in that setting.. Duck Zombies.. Hmmmmnah. Maybe not.
  18. In a way It feels a bit like a greek tale to romance Miranda in ME2.. A bit (relatively speaking compared to something humongous, though sligthly on a stretch) disappointed about the follow up to that in ME3.
  19. Oops. Bad context. Didn't mean it like that, but I can see why you might think otherwise. I was just so surprised to see her 'for real'.
  20. It's a pretty nice, ackward and confusing touch in a way that they show the pretty (step-)daughter instead of Jane Jensen in The PInkerton Road Kickstarter movie.. A bit funny with the mystery they try to add in the video, but quite old and overused ideas, it's about as interesting as watching a bunch of d&d lovers do a live-game in the forest.. Actually I have seen better performances of just that.. but I just don't see the point of it in regards to the project at hand.. A big shocking to see how big JJ is, because she seems much smaller in her pictures.. I think you need to be a much bigger fan than I am to enjoy any of this including that bland and uninspired video update by Jane Jensen.. I wonder, is this woman really interested and invested in this idea or is she just having her own crisis of faith or a bad day? I think she should hire some professional and enthuasistic people to do the public appearances for her or get some coaching on basic PR.. All I hear is blah-blah-blah. Yeah.. hmmm.. doubtful.
  21. Which is kind of pointless, because it stops tingling when you touch it..
  22. Don't give them any ideas. That seems to be the trend they're working toward now, what with Javik in ME3 and Sebastian in DA2. You got a point, but I kind of regret getting that From Ashes DLC a month after. I would like to think that Javik was originally cut, because BioWare thought it was simply too embarrassing to include a ruthless Jar Jar Binks wannabe, but then the EA suits came along and insisted that anything Bio' was gold and that it should be added as a DLC.. Well, d'uh.. It's a fantasy game, it could happen..
  23. They could just have cut out all your former squad members and turned them into day-one DLC's.
  24. Hmmm.. Warland.. Wastehammer.. naahhmm..
  25. Looks like.. Erm.. Transformer, Reaper or Robo-scorpion? I think the tail-gun is a bit too much.. And it looks like it's standing on a road turned into a wet and misty swamp.. I would imagine that a construct of this size and shape would simply sink and disappear into the mud or whatever.. Nice picture though.
