Why don't they just buy monster trucks then ? Those can handle high water and are probably cheaper. And they're macho, so that'll be great for the cops. as a way of honoring the example set by the commander in chief, we got just the thing. have a whole fleet o' ______ wagons... y'know, in case o' disaster. HA! Good Fun!

It was actually a pretty sore point in 2000 as well when Gore (D) lost the election while holding a .5 lead (not as gigantic of a lead as Hillary's 2.1, but sizeable enough). As for the rest of what you said, with no explanation/context, I'm not sure what you mean. (e: oh, the last point: yes, american liberalism is not the same as classic liberalism) If you mean the democracy bit? There are many forms of democracy, in UK its first pat the post, in Ireland, we have a vote transfer system called Proportional Representation, in USA, it's Electoral College. The democrats don't seem to accept the fact that Donald Trump was democratically elected, because they say Hillary got more votes. That would be ok in England, where it's first past the post, but the election was in America, where a different democratic system prevails. That's why I say the democrats don't seem to believe in Democracy. Hope that made it a bit less muddy you make a common european mistakes. first, our fed government is far less powerful than most people (including some americans) realize. our individual state and local governments has more influence on day-to-day life o' citizens than does the fed. in fact, the fed is specific prohibited by our Constitution from the kinda interference which is commonplace in ireland and elsewhere. our democracy happens much closer to home, and you ain't even considered local and state elections. furthermore, the electoral college is only a means by which our President is elected. as much as europeans fail to understand the limits o' our fed government, confusion 'bout the Presidency is even greater. is not the President who writes our laws but Congress. the President's powers is most vital in regards to foreign affairs and administration of the executive branch of government, but even then, the executive is a massive organization staffed by career bureaucrats who, for practical if not legal reasons, are largely insulated from Presidential whim. the President is not our Prime Minister, or anything even close. don't let tv and movies mislead you. use electoral college to somehow represent american democracy is, at best, myopic. HA! Good Fun!

makes perfect sense. buy military vehicles, with an effective road life o' a decade, for jic a 500 year storm turns houston into a lagoon. maybe makes more sense, perhaps, to plan for the national guard and us military to more quick respond to such disasters with their vehicles and equipment rather than using 500 year storm to explain the expense of using, maintaining and explaining military hardware. is likely everybody knew 'bout this gadget before Gromnir did, but am gonna share anyway. ok, is not actual the gadget itself http://lifehacker.com/144852/cook-with-a-pants-hanger. most o' our recipes is in plastic sheathes kept in 3-ring binders. hang the recipe on a cabinet handle is so obvious, but never occurred to us. saw last year for firstest time and felt kinda embarrassed. probable last guy to learn the hanger bit. am not a rodeo fan, but an intriguing bit o' history nevertheless. "At six feet 180 pounds, he was an imposing presence. He had witnessed his first prison rodeo event as a free man in 1946. Three years later, he’d have the opportunity to compete after being sentenced to life in prison for murdering his father with an axe. "By the 1970s, he had won the Top Hand Buckle a record seven times, despite having only one thumb. In one interview, Browning was matter-of-fact about the injury: He explained that while steer roping, his left thumb got caught in the rope loop and “When the steer jerked, it pulled it completely off.”" http://www.smithsonianmag.com/history/desegregation-came-early-texas-prison-rodeo-180964672/ HA! Walking Part 2
Gromnir replied to Osvir's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
one improvement bg2 developers touted were increased walking speed compared to bg. the soul-numbing slogs 'cross wilderness maps with few encounters save a hobgoblin or gnoll ambush were a frequent complaint o' folks on the old boards. even poe developers added a yakety sax speed option for movement. is not a new issue, but as long as it has been 'round, developer efforts appear to be opposite o' the goal o' those promulgating these threads. is always a small but curious vocal group o' folks who want slow. 'course such is the problem. the folks who want a slow walk option do not seem to realize they is small. is nothing wrong with the diehards asking for stuff, but until you get some kinda critical mass, this appeal seems doomed. got our sympathy if not support. Gromnir has been vocal minority more than once on these and other boards. however, is simple far too few walk toggle advocates, and their efforts appear to be directed at making frequent and repetitive appeals as 'posed to building support. HA! Good Fun! ps to keep up with the spirit o' the thread, this issue has been a dead man walking for some time. -
It'd probably be more accurate to say that liberals/progressives/the left wing are generally supportive of diplomacy and non-military solutions. Less militaristic than the Republicans, but at the same time, they can be just as militaristic. See Bill Clinton, Obama (tempered somewhat by war fatigue, but ramped up the drone warfare), Hillary Clinton. the bowling green coup were no doubt the work o' the deep state, which is controlled by a shadowy cabal o' business leaders and government power brokers who is beyond party affiliation. The Establishment is not defined by democrats and republicans. try and keep up. gotta get into the spirit o' this kinda thing for it to make sense. HA! Good Fun! Come off of it will you? Yes we have disagreements among each other, but we don't really need to go there with the sniping. that's the Gromnir post you object to? ... okie dokie. "And so he says to me, you want to be a bad guy? and I say Yeah Baby! I want to be bad! I says Churchill space ponies I'm making gravy without the lumps! Ah ha ha ha ha haaaaa!!!!!" "You'll never prove a thing, copper, I'm just a part time electrician…bad is good, baby! Down with government!" words o' wisdom from The Evil Midnight Bomber What Bombs At Midnight. get you into the correct frame o' mind for seeing pervasive deep state and "libtard" conspiracies under every rock. you don't read better than sharp. of course sharp ain't the only cracked nut in the bowl. there is disturbed voices calling for all kinda nonsense every day... not just vol and sharp neither. had a neighbor who believed commercial fertilizers were a government plot to reduce the collective will o' the nation. she woulda' been one o' sharp's voices or your amusing "certain libtards." those voices don't represent anybody save for the speaker, and those speakers (unless you can show otherwise) is metaphorical crazed hermits howling at the wind. find a couple 4chan posts or a breitbart article to support is not indicating any kinda meaningful support for a crazed theory or appeal. is precise why we criticized sharp generalization fails. he can't help but generalize from isolated events or speakers... and vol is simple wacky. remember bowling green. HA! Good Fun! ps odd auto spell check on bowl

am knowing there is fans o' barbarians. we actual like a couple barbarian characters we has played. however, am thinking barbarian is the one irredeemable character class. developers specific observed how they were intending to avoid class-defining abilities or powhaz. barbarians and, to a lesser degree, rogues is both developer fails in this regard. the barbarian is wholly defined by how a player utilizes carnage. sneak attack is a similar class-defining ability, but its application and use is a bit more flexible and broad than carnage. am suspecting one could serious nerf carnage and add a few additional barbarian abilities to flesh 'em out a bit and make 'em more varied, but the developers likely realize such fundamental changes is rear-view mirror regrets. barbarians is popular and there is 10 additional classes (plus multi-class and sub-class options) so the recognition o' the curiously obvious carnage focus for barbarians is unlikely to inspire a need for wholesale changes in poe2... in spite o' fact such changes would seem to be called for in this case. HA! Good Fun!

you do realize those voices in your head ain't real, yes? but yes, who can forget the narrowly avoided military coup o' 2017. only kellyanne conway had the courage to discuss the bowling green massacre. the deep-state controlled mass media pretended as if bowling green never happened... which it didn't, but it could have. sure, the media jumps on every Presidential blunder, but where were they when a story about a coup which didn't happen, but theoretically could have happened (but not really) failed to actual materialize anywhere save for in the darker places of sharp's brain. where was the media when it mattered? never forget the Bowling Green Massacre. the blood of those forgotten heroes, blood which was never shed because the heroes didn't exist (but they could have) will never be washed away from this nation's collective psyche. regardless, we all died a little on February 2, 2017. never forget. HA! Good Fun! ps you just can't help self insofar as the wacky generalization nonsense is concerned, eh?

disposition conflicts will be the only limits on multiclassing possibilities. so yeah, a bleak walker/priest of eothas should be unavailable based on developer feedback. some folks has complained how certain class and sub-class combinations "do not make sense." such combos, particular for companions with established characters, break immersion, or somesuch. thankfully, the developers is a bit more open-minded 'bout such combos. "it's up to you to justify it... if it's kewl to you, that is all that matters." mechanical concerns is the extent o' the developer meddling with multiclass combo limitations. goal is for the player to choose how to play their character, no matter how unique or curious. the player, as much as possible in a class-based game, has the opportunity in poe2 to be choosing a role rather than having one imposed 'pon them by the developers and the system. HA! Good Fun!

am admitting we rare pay much attention to preseason anymore. reduction in practices and owner preference for cheap(er) and disposable young players to fill their rosters leaves us a bit queasy. even so, we were kinda pulling for victor cruz to make an nfl roster. with the acl injury to one o' the bears starting wrs, the prospects o' victor cruz sticking with chicago this year looked like almost a 50-50 proposition from our pov. http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000000838661/article/victor-cruz-released-by-chicago-bears oh well. http://www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/forceful-chief-of-staff-grates-on-trump-and-the-feeling-is-mutual/ar-AAr6yp4?ocid=spartanntp in any other presidential admin, we would be dubious 'bout the wisdom o' having so many military folks close to the oval office. the founding fathers were afeared of nothing more than tyranny... tyranny o' the majority, tyranny of a king, tyranny of o' any kind o' consolidated power 'cross multiple branches o' government. there is the potential, particular in time o' crisis, for military folks to see it as their duty to place preservation o' the nation ahead o' the the demands o' the Constitution. tyranny. ... the thing is, the military guys in white house is amongst the few visible and empowered individuals in the current administration we trust to put the needs o' the country first 'mongst their priorities. is the military guys who will, we suspect, endure trump if for no other reason than they know their absence would leave the wh empty o' reasonable voices willing to express disagreement with the President. mcmaster is smart and articulate. mattis is almost as smart as mcmaster, and his no-nonsense attitude is a welcome alternative to the endemic dissembling o' the current administration. kelly made four stars as a mustang and while am not necessarily agreeing with his politics, we have no questions 'bout his commitment or competence. these guys, and a few o' their guys, is the folks who give us any hope for the administration. am worried 'bout lack o' political savvy as no amount o' guts and brains can complete makeup for lack o' experience on the part o' mcmaster, mattis and kelly. the executive branch is enormous and does not function like the military. Congress won't be bullied by a President with approval ratings in the 30s and 40s, but the military guys have negligible experience working with Congress. etc. military guys in the wh bother Gromnir on a reptile brain kinda level-- is almost instinctual. every cell and neuron scream warning 'bout an expansive military presence in the wh. nevertheless, the only thing keeping us from metaphorical climbing into a bunker and refusing to emerge 'til 2020 is the generals in the wh current doing their duty. is a curious conflict o' emotion and reason. HA! Good Fun!

unfortunate, am betting the initial school district drug test is more efficacious than the nfl's. HA! Good Fun!

gonna need explain. am not seeing a need for differentiation o' skills based 'pon class. the classes is quite unique already, so why place limits on skills? still haven't seen an answer to the fundamental question, eh? what purpose does the limit serve? . is simple an expectation thing? one expects classes to offer different skill pools. one expects rogues to be better at mechanics than priests, whether or not a poe rogue is actual akin to a d&d rogue or not? regardless, w/o knowing what kinda scheme you are actual suggesting, we cannot criticize or applaud sans our fundamental objection to adding limits to already limited classes. Again, you view it as a limit and I don't see how it is one. kinda a dead-end right there, no? your inability to see how a skill cap being lower for every other class is anything other than a limit perplexes us, but am suspecting you is not actual being genuine at this point. nevertheless, we will once again observe how you show lack o' imagination which should not burden Gromnir and others. there is no reason why an individual poe fighter should be inherent more athletic than a priest or wizard. you can make melee combat priests and wizards in poe. you can make a crowd control fighter in poe. so our priest character spent his days in religious "meditation" which involved rigorous physical training to toughen his body as well as his soul. on the other hand, a player-character's fighter recognized how intelligent use o' force were far more potent on the battlefield than would be brute force, so the fighter spent more o' his effort studying strategy and tactics as 'posed to climbing walls and getting beat senseless with a heavy practice weapon. oh, and even if you do see some kinda verisimilitude or realism *chuckle* in an inherent more mechanical inclined rogue, you still ain't provided a game reason for such a limit. men is tending to be stronger than women. so what? in a game, there is no reason to cap a female character's strength at levels lower than a male. player freedom and fairness is gonna trump elusive notions o' realism Every Single Time. is no need to place unnecessary additional limits on classes. is a class-based system and the classes, by their nature is limiting. is no reason to add to inherent limits. but if you don't see (or admit) how a lower mechanics skill cap for classes other than rogue is a limit, then yeah, am thinking Gromnir has become at least as exhausted as is you. HA! Good Fun! ps homer huffed better.

No, not really. Filing for bankruptcy is a great way to protect yourself from too much debt and overhead. You will lose assets, but if you are underwater on a lot of stuff, it is typically your best bet. it's a little worse than you s'pose. the nflpa messed up, particular during the most recent cba. the nfla demanded all kinds o' practical considerations which gave advantages to veteran players insofar as making money and keeping their jobs. got rookie pay scales for first four years. decrease practice times. changes to free agency. etc. all seemed to benefit vets, and the very big and very public contracts seeming support such a conclusion. well guess what? four years is longer than the typical nfl career, and something like 40% o' players is making the league minimum. these guys burn through their cash like there is no tomorrow... and they discover 'bout three years later they got no nfl career, hardly any savings, and no real degree 'pon which to fall back 'pon. thanks to the cba, the league has become increasing young-- opposite o' what the nflpa intended. most folks in the nfl plays a handful o' years and then discovers how difficult it is with a middle-class (if they are lucky) job to pay for multiple italian sports cars and a mansion, or two... or three. worse, these guys got too much pride to work as a manager at denny's, which is 'bout what their "kinesiology" *wink* degree from alabama or lsu is likely to get 'em after they quit playing. in not rich person bankruptcy so much as guys living way too rich bankruptcy. the nfl and nflpa gives multiple rookie seminars every year which educate players 'bout the realities o' their new careers. the valuable information provided by the player's association and the league should be a wakeup call, but it clear isn't. as to the elliott investigator, you folks didn't read the comments from mr. harvey we provided 'bove. he addressed the credibility issue o' the victim. is not as if her credibility issues were hidden from harvey, huston, lovelace davie, and white. 'ccording to the recent reports you folks is reading, the nfl investigator thought the evidence would be confusing and the victim's credibility would hurt. however, much like the lead investigator for ohio law enforcement who original investigated, those 4 individuals we mentioned 'bove accepted how the victim were untruthful 'bout an event, but still found her overall claim credible. the meta data clear did not confuse the 4 folks reviewing. people is selective reading to hear what they wish. is not the smoking gun you folks believe it to be, particular if you read the actual investigator comments and not simple the headlines. The Weird, Random and Interesting Things That Fit Nowhere Else Thread
Gromnir replied to Blarghagh's topic in Way Off-Topic
if you wanna dig through some o' the old police violence threads on this board you will be able to find a few discussions 'bout the correlation 'tween various police qualities and excessive force complaints and convictions. am knowing a few boardies who is dismissive o' the value o' education, but the most significant police attribute resulting in decrease in violence claims and convictions is the level o' education o' the officer. yes, is correlative, so perhaps education level is not the reason for the decrease in abuse o' force 'mongst cops, but am thinking it doesn't much matter if one is simple looking for a way to avoid such problems. hire cops with at least college degree, and a large % of such events don't happen. 'course the resulting difficulty is almost nobody can afford to hire a force o' all college educated cops. the pay for typical municipal cop with only high school education requirements is already excellent. nevertheless, major cities still have trouble fulfilling hiring needs even with an extreme large pool from which to draw. increase education requirement and you need increase pay as well, no? there is a solution to the problem. sure, have only cops with university degree won't complete stop abuse o' law enforcement power, but it will great reduce. unfortunate, as with so many problems, money is a practical barrier to adopting the obvious solution. HA! Good Fun! -
(removed the Gromnir/algroth reply/quote silliness) *sigh* oh, sure, you can be a priest lockpicker/trapfinder, but you won't be as good as a rogue at such tasks no matter what you do... unless you find gloves o\ manipulation. and yeah, just 'cause a class isn't good at something doesn't mean you can't play such a character. if only rogue gets the bonus, then no matter how you look at it, there is a limit 'pon other classes. is obvious a limit. this should not be difficult to comprehend... is not complicated or philosophically profound. for some inexplicable reason, in spite o' the changes made to the poe rogue compared to ie game baggage, the developers once again made traps/locks a salient feature o' the poe rogue. traps/locks is a threshold skill, and even a single extra point in mechanics, particular at lower levels, represents a huge practical difference. keep tell us how the class bonus is no biggie ignores the fact you still haven't provided a reason to keep such a limit. advantage o' doing away is freeing up customization options, which the developers has stated as a goal. got a limit with no stated advantage other than the one Gromnir observed and dismissed, thoroughly, earlier in this thread. and speaking for the developers, 'cause they has spoken for themselves, they is perfect happy when folks play their characters as they wish and have fun doing so. whether the player wants to really role-play as a former slave from the deadfire, or if the player is more concerned with the lore bonus from playing an aristocrat matters little to the developers as long as the player enjoys the experience. force a player to play the way algroth believes is appropriate is indulging in a bit o' hubris. yeah, the developers do concern themselves with balance often in spite o' the protests o' players. every nerf or fixed exploit is met with community chagrin. the thing is, in the long run, the developers is aware a balanced game with many relative equivalent options will provide more fun than a game with clear win or lose options. player claims 'bout what is fun often conflict with developer notions o' balance. even so, what most rpg developers want is not necessarily for a player to take on a role, but rather to have fun. but again, if there is no compelling reason for a functional limit 'pon player customization, then such a limit is lacking value and should be abandoned. should be an obvious conclusion. HA! Good Fun!

am not certain if she were genuine, but am thinking it is unfortunate how as the lone voice purported representing a moderate Muslim perspective from somebody s'posed living in Malaysia, it were too easy for folks to generalize based on her singular contributions. am hopeful 'she' were just trolling, and were actual a joshua ryne goldberg in a hijab. am having known many American muslims and we would be disappointed if qistina were anything other than a puppet show to whip up the righteous indignation o' the locals. 'course even if she were legit, she would nevertheless represent only a single voice. HA! Good Fun! ps thanks again to wod for introducing us to mr. goldberg.

for chrissakes, we hope you ain't playing a norm or a general rule of application. you play a character. hopefully is Your character. why limit the possibilities more than necessary? sure, we already got the fundamental and unavoidable limits o' a class-based system, so why further handicap character customization by establishing arbitrary norms. you wanna actual play your perceived norm? fine, is your game so you should be able to play the norm, but why should the norm limit Gromnir's character concept? but again, is bass ackwards. is there a reason for the limit? algroth personal sense o' verisimilitude aside, what is the game purpose o' such a limit? if you cannot provide a worthy goal for such a limit, and explain how the actual mechanic advances such a goal, then how can one possibly rationalize a limit on character customization? as for how a change to backgrounds "incentivates" *chuckle* some players to choose based on pragmatic numerical concerns as 'posed to more elusive and personal reasons, why do you care? you do realize this is a numbers based crpg, yes? some folks will always consider the numerical advantages. the developers will work to balance the backgrounds as they balance everything else in the game, but make backgrounds more important does not in anyway change the motivation for the developers to keep the backgrounds balanced. Gromnir will likely choose backgrounds which match whatever thematic origin we dream up... but why on earth would we begrudge the player who chooses a background 'cause the numbers work best for his scroll-monkey build? as long as the developers keep all such backgrounds balanced and there is no win or lose button with such choices, why should Gromnir, or you, or the developers lose sleep if somebody down in the character builds section o' the board is coming up with The Best background choice for a _______ character? not making sense. HA! Good Fun! ps cleaned up the thread a bit. unwieldy.
