  1. of course you didn't misuse a song which complete rejects the point you were making each time you posted. there, there... easy boy. HA! Good Fun!
  2. am knowing is wrong, but 'pon seeing brain images we had a reflex desire to grill cauliflower. cut cauliflower into "steaks" and slather with a molasses/chili/garlic/paprika/kosher salt/sherry sauce. throw steaks on a well-oiled grill for +5 minutes per side, then move to indirect heat for +10 minutes. remove steaks from grill and sprinkle with some kinda green herb, mostly for color... maybe add lemon or lime wedges for taste. 'course the problem with this kinda thing (not the cauliflower, but mr. hernandez's brain) is the literal tens o' thousands o' college and pro football players with cte who is not murderers. given our constant banging on the cte and brain trauma drum here and elsewhere, am obvious sympathetic to mr. hernandez's plight. he were a victim. however, he were also a murderer.
  3. well, there is a bit more to it. is a frequent mistake to only consider the power o' endgame builds. even the sooper-groovy poe builds is often only genuine fantasamagoric for the last 1/3 o' the game. people observe how op ________ is w/o recognizing how mediocre or sub-par such a build is for the first 2/3 o' the game. a single-class deadfire character is gonna be receiving higher level abilities quicker than multiclasses throughout the game. like it or not, and in spite o' obsidian best efforts, classes is gonna have noticeable leaps in power at specific level thresholds 'cause o' the availability o' particular talents or abilities or whatever. single class characters is gonna hit power thresholds quicker. is a mistake to narrow focus on endgame. HA! Good Fun! OTOH, in the early game the multiclasses are very close behind single class in powerlevel, and at level 1-2 and 4 multiclass seems strictly superior. very true. level 3 would appear to be the first time the single class enjoys a real advantage... and such is fleeting 'cause it again disappears at level 4. 'course levels 5-18... given the level cap, and how the watcher is initial depowered in deadfire, it would not surprise us at all if the game functional starts characters at level 3 or 4, or at least gets us to such levels extreme quick. would makes initial multiclass advantage even less significant if we got something akin to the nwn2 start, eh? 'course such is only a guess but it would address the initial imbalance. HA! Good Fun!

  5. bioware ruined crpg romance, but it weren't their fault. their success redefined the debate. repost from 2015: as an aside, our stated dislike o' crpg romance is specific tied to the companion romances that became common after the release of bg2. optional and tangential side-quest/mini-game romances is what we find to be... puerile. on the other hand, we thought ravel's love for tno, romantic or otherwise, were essential for our appreciation o' ps:t. the single most moving dialogue encounter we can recall from any crpg we has played is the one we had with the mebbeth incarnation o' ravel 'pon our return to sigil after plane hopping. is not what promancers consider romance, but before the release o' bg2 we woulda' argued that the ravel's love for the ps:t protagonist were likely our favorite crpg romance, though perhaps there is a my little pony crpg we has yet to play that would dislodge ravel for our favored spot. the optional and tangential side-quest /mini-game romances has reshaped the nature o' the debate, perhaps for the worse. one wonders if the existence o' the companion romances actual decreases or inhibits the possibility o' a more mature kinda exploration and expressions o' love in crpgs. even developers reference game romance in terms more familiar to the promancer than what we woulda' seen back in 1999 or 2000. has the romance question irrevocably changed the nature o' the games? we hope that is not the case. end repost "but let me assure you, this like any story worth telling... is all about a girl. that girl. the girl next door. mary jane watson." repost: the problem for Gromnir regarding crpg romances is not that we hate romance. the problem is that we like romance. optional and tangential crpg romances is, by their very nature, flawed." 'course this is a well traveled road: https://forums.obsidian.net/topic/91279-romance/?p=1877405 goes back in earnest in western cprgs to ladies o' neverwinter? crpg romance has always been a topic, but bio sucess fundamental changed the debate. HA! Good Fun!
  6. Ah. But how do you know that the song, rather than mockery, is not a lament of the fact that "a falsehood repeated often enough becomes truth"? He could be congratulating Kellyanne Conway (and her boss) on her mastery of mass psychology... yeah. we shoulda' corrected sm# the first time he misused the video link in the alternative facts thread. coulda' pointed out how the lyrics o' the song were not meant to be taken literal as the professor clear intended his song as a sardonic criticism o' deceit. the obvious sm# misapprehension woulda' been ended with a mild correction. instead, we indulge in horse whipping. bad on us. HA! Good Fun!
  7. don't care if you voted for trump. irrelevant. you are defending trump honesty (relative honesty? *chuckle*) here as you were defending an alternative definition o' alternative facts in the other thread. this is insane. you are the turin horse and Gromnir is the guy with the whip when we should be nietzsche. see the poor beast founder in the mud and we keep swinging the whip. there, there... easy boy. HA! Good Fun!
  8. I would expect no less from the one who created the "Alternative facts" thread but I would like you to listen to this....(video)You may learn a thing or two... ... "Making up stuff is such fun, for office I should really run "Then everything I say will be gospel truth and more "Now that I really know that truth should truly get the axe "From now on it’s alternative facts." you do realize professor destler were mocking kellyanne conway, (and by extension, the trump administration) yes? HA! Good Fun! Yes, of course! But you did learn the lyrics you have linked twice now, in two separate threads. have an excellent memory, so no need to go all rule-of-three 'pon us, but seeing as how you clear misunderstood professor destler's sarcasm the first time you linked, am gonna guess you were equal befuddled this time. didn't wanna embarrass you when you posted previous, but... oh well. regardless, am thinking you now should understand how the song is ridiculing the notion o' alternative facts, even if you will continue to refuse admission o' error. HA! Good Fun! ps 'course if you purposeful set self up as an alternative facts punching bag simple to get to this point, then we applaud the patience. go through a whole feigned defense o' trump honesty to then purposeful post a linked video, media which undercuts your espoused position, so as to make self the object lesson o' alternative facts befuddlement? get you points for subtlety.

  10. am surprising optimistic. the netflix marvel shows has final unburdened themselves o' the silly big hole... hole. woulda' been much better off if defenders did a mcguffin take on the hand machinations, 'cause we knew the thing were gonna fall apart once they started trying to explain the black sky and ny's biggest p(l)ot hole and the other nonsense. like bad anime. the metallica were a bit distracting if only 'cause our old guy snobbery kicked into gear. "and justice for all wasn't a terrible album" we says to our self, "but metallica's last great releases were ride the lightning and master of puppets." HA! Good Fun!
  11. "i call it truthful hyperbole."-- d. trump, art of the deal is what trump calls it when he indulges in p.t. barnum flimflammery. https://www.newyorker.com/magazine/2016/07/25/donald-trumps-ghostwriter-tells-all http://nymag.com/daily/intelligencer/2016/12/donald-trumps-war-against-facts.html https://www.washingtonpost.com/graphics/politics/2016-election/trump-lies/?utm_term=.e1432ecab482 https://forums.obsidian.net/topic/91512-alternative-facts/?p=1900274 the alternative facts, truthful hyperbole, and outright lies, w/o any care for consequences or ethical standards, is one o' our biggest concerns regarding the Chief Fabulist occupying the oval office. "honest"? HA! Good Fun!
  12. good question(s). too bad you asked at obsidian. got a sa account? HA! Good Fun!
  13. there is a paper floating 'round the web, should be easy to find: bias in cable news: persuasion and polarization (am not 100% sure of title, but should be close)? sorry, can't recall the author names save one were kinda unique with surname being japanese and given name being islamic... or perhaps we reverse. *shrug* in any event, the paper tracks the political skew o' cnn, fox and msnbc with particular emphasis on 2000 forward. unsurprising, the authors discovered viewers prefered news channels based largely on viewpoint agreement. further conclusions is curious, and potential disturbing. leaving those conclusions aside, (should read and decide for selves) the data makes clear how particular post 2004, fox took an intentional hard right resulting in significant increased viewership. msnbc, which had previous been more conservative than cnn, responded to fox's conservative polarization by making a near equal and opposite shift to the political left, overt stating such polarization as part o' their 2010 advertising campaign with a slogan o' "lean forward." will no doubt disturb a few obsidian posters to be hearing how cnn stayed relative centrist, with only a slight skew left. however, keep in mind the relevant data from the paper were frequent bounded by 2012, so the recent presidential campaign and trump presidency is unaccounted for when tracking cnn political skew. regardless, is clear fox and msnbc had, by 2012, polarized news coverage to an extreme degree. in any event, a stated preference o' cnn, msnbc or fox would seem first and foremost to be a litmus test for determining the viewer's political leaning as 'posed to being a commentary on news coverage quality. HA! Good Fun!
  14. we got a few concerns, but will wait 'til beta to see how multiclassing works in reality rather than on paper. we mentioned previous how we were little concerned with obvious systematic blunders being a problem with multi and sub classes. real problems will arise with the the perhaps ironic predictably unanticipated synergies. am not simple guessing; am knowing combinations o' talents, abilities, gear and bugs will break any number o' classes and class combos. history tells us many such game busters will go unnoticed 'til beta. our main concern is it appears the developers will continue to respond to deadfire concerns via tumblr, twitter, something awful and numerous other sites. is mildly irksome to see relative indifference to board feedback save for when queries is funneled into a developer chat feedback thread. hopeful the choice to disregard obsidian fandom at the obsidian site is a temporary, if overlong, experiment. again, am not over concerned at the moment, but if such casual insouciance towards obsidian board feedback is the new norm and it continues once the beta begins, we will be more than a little disappointed... if not particular surprised. HA! Good Fun!
  15. with a 5-man party limit, and no generalist/godless priest announced, our single-class priest choice appears to have become more difficult. not a bad thing, but am typical making considerable use o' all schools/types o' priestly spells when playing a poe priest. priest/paladin will definite get a looksee. does makes us wish for a godless priest more. am seeing thematic benefits o' godless particular in the poe setting and such a 'subclass' would allow for a generalist spell caster option such as will be available to wizards and druids who not wanna take a subclass. HA! Good Fun!
  16. similar feelings. weren't as bad as amazing spider-man 2, but am not having to rearrange our top ten. were a "solid" film, but nothing more. gadot were meh playing the naive heroine who learns, apparently, to save the world with love... by kicking ares' arse and killing a bunch o' germans. yet another supermodel-trying-to-be-an-actress, but somehow 'cause this supermodel is playing wonder woman, it is empowering? even so, we didn't hate gadot, but we did much prefer when she stopped talking and the action sequences started... though more wire-fu than necessary. gadot looked pretty, but in any other movie such an observation would be attacked as misogynistic or a microaggression or worse. biggest disappointment: the villains were a waste o' extraordinary acting talent. whether you like 'em or not, dc flicks has made certain their villains is well-developed. perhaps we woulda' all been better off with a little less lex luthor in bats v. supe, but in general the flaw o' dc films is not underdeveloped villains. wonder woman focused on the protagonist w/o much concern for the antagonists. am kinda sad ww were so successful as am hopeful dc doesn't abandon their villains in future films. flaw in our character that we almost invariably prefer the villains. oddest observation: kinda liked chris pine in ww. chris did a fair job o' supporting gadot. patty jenkins, while clear understanding her movie were gonna be a feminist vehicle, didn't throw chris pine/steve trevor under the bus. am thinking ms. jenkins deserves much credit for allowing chris pine to be heroic and vital in a movie wherein gadot's character were the protagonist. HA! Good Fun!
  17. http://edition.cnn.com/2017/09/18/politics/paul-manafort-government-wiretapped-fisa-russians/index.html "any chance the wh apologizes for spreading fake news?" HA! Good Fun! is kinda like "collusion"? sharp simple doesn't understand what is wiretapping, or perhaps who is obama? maybe didn't botherr to actual read trump's tweet regarding obama and wiretapping? well, am nothing if not helpful. "Terrible! Just found out that Obama had my "wires tapped" in Trump Tower just before the victory. Nothing found. This is McCarthyism!"— Donald J. Trump https://lawfareblog.com/latest-scoops-cnn-and-new-york-times-quick-and-dirty-analysis "Press reports have indicated for months that at least one, and potentially multiple, close associates of Donald Trump were subject to FISA warrants. It is possible now—as has been noted many times since Trump tweeted his accusation in March—that if the U.S. president was in communication with these individuals, his communications might have been incidentally collected. That isn’t the same as being wiretapped—and being subject to incidental collection as part of lawful collection against a third party really is not the same thing as being wiretapped by President Obama. House Intelligence Committee Chairman Devin Nunes has already attempted to spin incidental collection into presidential vindication in a bizarre series of press conferences unveiling intelligence revelations—which later turned out to have been fed to him by the White House itself." (emphasis added) "Nothing in this report vindicates Trump’s claims that he or Trump Tower were wiretapped." 'course the big takeaway from all o' this, other than the bumbling fumbduckery o' the trump campaign to bring manafort into the fold in the first place, is mueller appears to have flynn and manafort in a situation where either or both will feel pressure to make a deal... or spin the wheel. though most important takeaway is the revelation o' the manafort warrant. trump claimed "illegal," in his misguided tweets, but possible most significant is there does appear to have been a warrant granted for manafort electronic surveillance. am knowing we has tried to explain previous, but USA "probable cause" is not same as most european nation "probable cause." in the US, the cops need more than mere suspicion--need real evidence to get the warrant. no rogue operation. is no wild goose chase as alt-right suggests if there is warrant. HA! Good Fun! ps gotta add the following scene: love the monologue.
  18. ... what is it with folks trying to out trivia each other recent? am perfect aware 'o the cheese-wisconsin link. am also aware josh is from a small hamlet in wisconsin. know all kinda stoopid details given we has been doing this schtick on interplay/bis/obsidian boards for +17 years. having lived in chicago and visited wisconsin more than once, we got considerable experience with the cheese heads and wisconsin cheese. the thing is, josh is the only guy we know from wisconsin who actual tweets 'bout cheese. sure, am guessing there is many a fromager in wisconsin who think 'bout cheese from sunup to midnight, but the average cow tippin packer fan is only interested in cheese when somebody suggests california cheese or french cheese is superior. board has been goofy o' late. is absence o' real news we s'pose. HA! Good Fun!
  19. don't go channeling the more sensitive boardies who is current posting. suggesting you would be confused by the obvious discrepancy o' oldie rogue category encompassing both bards and thieves (and assassin subclass) were hardly some kinda scathing insult. oh, and you is again preaching to the choir... 'least 'bout rapiers. Gromnir has pointed out to josh, more than once, how if not on a battlefield wherein we is forced to hold or defend ground, on foot we would far prefer lighter armour and a heavy rapier than reticulated plate and a flamberge. most melee battles end up with opponents rolling 'round in the mud, and the way you kill a guy in plate is by jamming a pointy weapon in armpit, groin or visor. heavy rapier and main gauche is not ideal for fighting a guy in plate, but given the choice, am gonna go with mobility every time. 'course a battlefield is different. different also is the concept art o' ydwin's rapier, which is not one o' the heavier varieties. she gots a light dueling weapon. she does not have a weapon one would place in the hands o' a shock trooper using a brutal fighting style. as to insults, perceived and real, you ain't gonna see us get worked up over much o' anything. been at this too long. heck, karkarov insult where by he implied Gromnir is a fool in the earlier post escaped our notice 'til we reviewed moments ago to see if karkarov were being hypocritical. lord knows if we responded with hand wringing and animosity to every such perceived slight, we would not have lasted on theses boards for decades. probable not the response you wanted, but have been at this too long to worry over every poster's hurt feelings, particular when we is hardly being malicious. HA! Good Fun!
  20. am suspecting is tough on teachers to make a right call. we coached kids at the high school level, so is a bit older than red's child, but we were much aware how vicious and petty kids could be towards each other. had one kid with asperger's syndrome who we knew were the victim o' all kinda bullying. high school kids would know better than to mock a person in a wheelchair for being unable to walk, but the student with asperger's were given absolute no quarter for his social mistakes. am suspecting as a coach we had a bit more influence over the kids we dealt with as they were in our zone o' influence voluntarily, and we could exact more immediate and meaningful lessons than could an ordinary teacher. courtesy fail and everybody runs stadium stairs for the next 15 minutes. increase 5 minutes each time some dunderhead makes same mistake. am guaranteeing an end to shenanigans in our presence long before our impromptu conditioning events reach an hour in duration. even so, if Gromnir disciplined we knew we were not making things easier for the victim. as soon as the kids were out o' our presence, retributive bullying would be enacted. worst part is we witnessed a kinda a millennial shift regarding parent behavior more than kids. kids stayed predictable evil over years. however, when we first started coaching, way back in the 90s, speak to a bully's parents were highly efficacious. we would speak to parents and then parents would "speak" to their child. problem often solved with mere threat o' a parent-coach conference. as 2000s progressed, parents came into conferences we (the head coach actual, but at our urging) scheduled with increasingly adversarial outlooks. regardless o' their child's behavior, many parents came into conferences looking for a way to deflect blame. do nothing and kid is bullied. do something and kid is bullied more. teach kids to be less cruel and more understanding? good luck. empathy and adult morality is frequent beyond youth hardwiring until an unspecified age in teen (or later) years. *shrug* our solution to being the one native american at an all white school during elementary were to be either faster or tougher than anybody giving us trouble. didn't always work out as planned, but we caught a few o' our tormentors alone and taught 'em what we could 'bout courtesy and manners. our solution to being the one native american/indian at an all black high school in chicago were a bit more simple. we were a genuine sports star, so in spite o' a rough start, we quickly became off limits to any kinda overt violence directed our way. friends were a bit harder to come by, but is tough not to make at least a couple friends on a team when you is all-city/all-state. popularity born o' pragmatism? silliness. better than being locked in a dumpster. wish we had good advice. HA! Good Fun!
  21. yeah, am s'posing there is something a bit peculiar 'bout our tendency to go remote and obscure. one such incident could be aberrational, but consistency makes it... pathological? as to recent josh tweets, which we typical do not follow 'les they is linked in this thread, it would appear he is current enjoying japanese cinema. is nice to see he is stretching a bit beyond his staples o' medieval european history/art, bicycles, and cats. am also recollecting he takes cheese more serious than any non french person has a right to. to stay kinda on-topic, we will note our anticipation regarding josh tweets, and deadfire info in general, will great increase once the beta starts... which am suspecting will be december/january. hopeful we get more developer interaction post beta start, 'cause waiting for tweets or something awful posts would be less than optimal from our pov. HA! Good Fun!
  22. we said "High Visibility" armoured form in referencing devil. weren't the armour we were stressing but y'know, the shiny metallic/armor body which would be garnering considerable attention. light armours you speak o' is actual a fantastic choice for a fast moving shock trooper... and a poe rogue. the min-maxers you referenced earlier (other than retaliation rogue builds which again is very shock trooperesque) would use rogues with Big weapons and little to no armour. but again, trying to be a classic thief, even a murder stab stab kinda thief, would be more difficult when you gonna unnatural draw attention. 'course such conspicuousness wouldn't in the least impair a brutal fighting style, eh? rapier and glasses? shoulda' made the goth anime girl a ranged character if they were gonna give her glasses, and a rapier, while thematic great for a 1e d&d thief, is not the weapon we would give a rogue... 'less we were specific trying to conjure up oldy pre 1e thief parallels. heck, by 2nd edition, the first edition to use 'rogue' language, thief were a class within the rogue category, which also included bards... and d&d bards is more analogous to poe chanters, no? are bards making karkarov leap to notions o' murder, arson and throat cutting? no? poor karkarov's head must be spinning. using the doemenal as examples is hardly convincing either. were more rogues in the game than the doemenal. sure, is nothing which prevents a thief such as a few o' the doemenal, or a trapper/psychopath such as devil, or a farmer such as eder being a rogue CLASS. nevertheless, what you chose to describe were character traits/flaws. any class can be a criminal, no? a murderous person bent on revenge is personality shortcomings rather than representative o' a combat style. you could describe a fighter, mage, priest or any other class equal well by describing 'em as, "A murderer who goes from town to town slitting peoples throats and burning down their houses. A classic murder stab stab..." psychopath. obsidian could use any character class to create the criminal revenge seeker you describe, and that is the point. you, and others, is so wedded to antiquated notions o' class, pre 2e d&d notions o' class in fact, you ain't recognizing how you conflate character with class. the mistake obsidian made were the naming nomenclature. were apparent early during development that peoples would never be able to unburden themselves o' old timey thief baggage if obsidian adopted the rogue label. had a similar problem with folks not being able to accept a different role for fighters and paladins. were most tedious to see posts insisting old 1e d&d notions should limit poe developers. were kinda hoping we could move past such. even so, am admitting obsidian is to blame for the simple and obvious mistake o' class naming nomenclature. HA! Good Fun!
  23. have posted this elsewhere, but suicide, in most countries, is most significant reduced not by improving happiness or mental health, but by making the act less convenient. serious. historical biggest drop in US suicide rate coincided with the time when a switch from coal fire ovens to natural gas took place. old movies or cartoons where you see a character stick his head in a cold oven were based on a genuine suicide epidemic, which dropped almost overnight by +25%. recent suicide rate in the US has increased, direct coinciding with the increased numbers o' suicides by opioids/painkillers. suicide, the actual act, is statistical impulsive. is the darkest kinda humor, but suicides is, for the most part, too lazy or cowardly to come up with complex methods o' self harm. being more generous, and more human, the conclusion is a suicide, given even a brief time 'pon which to reflect, general steps back from the proverbial brink. make suicides drop is easy if you find a way to reduce availability o' handguns, opioids... and coal fire ovens. 'course such doesn't in any way solve the more fundamental mental health issues. also don't address cultural norms and mores regarding suicide. HA! Good Fun!
  24. First thing, I am saying why people like her in my opinion. Not why I like her character. For me it all about the fact that finally, we have a potential party member who is actually an animancer and may have more motivation for supporting animancy than.... "Well in Valia we study all sciences because we are more intelligent than you." As for Rogue, they say all that in this ancient update you dredged but that I am well aware of. I also know Eder (or was it Adair?) was originally a Fighter, changed to Rogue, than back to Fighter. Here is the cold hard truth though. What is the one rogue you get in Eternity? Devil of Caroc. What is Devil of Caroc? A murderer who goes from town to town slitting peoples throats and burning down their houses. A classic murder stab stab rogue who happens to be a robot sort of. You can't say "rogues are this and that" and then release the only rogue companion in game with a background that is totally different from a "front line shock trooper" and expect people to hold to the definition you originally claimed. It doesn't help that their bonus skills are in .... mechanics, and half their skills involve turning invisible, or breaking engagement. So you can claim they are whatever you want, but when you make them mechanically similar to a traditional D&D rogue, people will treat them as traditional rogues. Also I bet you a lot of min maxers will argue that Rangers are about as heavy hitter as a limp string pasta is. Edwin wise, I don't like him, never did. He is a bloody stain on the cobbles in my BG saves. Doesn't change the fact that many people interpreted her blurb this way. karkarov conflating character with class. a murderous cutthroat who burns down homes were not a class in poe... or d&d for that matter (though am gonna admit d&d assassin prestige class would fit.) any class in poe could be a psychopath bent 'pon revenge and bloodshed. from a practical pov, devil, in poe, were very much a shock trooper with her brutal fighting style and high visibility armoured form. put the biggest and most damaging weapon one could find into her hands and let her indulge her bloodthirst on the battlefield. conflate character with class is part o' the problem. lugging 'round d&d and previous crpg baggage is part o' the problem. from beginning, more than a few folks warned obsidian 'bout naming nomenclature o' classes. a d&d rogue, particular in later editions, clear didn't make, "A murderer who goes from town to town slitting peoples throats and burning down their houses," innate rogue qualities. nevertheless, the name "rogue," in spite o' attempts by wizards o' the coast and obsidian to distance the class from the "classic murder stab stab" idea karkarov has in his head, is implied, at the least, by the name itself. is a predictable mistake... still a mistake. regardless, little ydwin, with her rapier and glasses and mini skirt, doesn't yell "shock trooper" to Gromnir. eder and devil? well, sure, but ydwin is a definite fail on matching obsidian's rogue, at least so far. as to mechanics skill, you are preaching to the choir. in the update we quoted, the mechanics skill explanation for rogue appears to be more a battlefield traps kinda rationalization... kinda like a modern marine recognizing the function and dangers o' mines n' such. even so, we has observed multiple times, and in multiple threads, how the class-based skills is utter wonky and busted and work in opposition o' the s'posed goal o' greater customization opportunities. regardless, don't confuse character with class. big mistake. as an aside, the min-maxers will point out how rangers is indeed heavy hitters... if only finally, after numerous releases. is arguable rogues ain't deserving such a title given how other classes can approach same potential dps w/o being so squishy, but such is a multi-layered problem o' mechanics and is also a "relative" issue and is genuine only a real factor from the pov o' the serious build monkeys. regardless, will no doubt be the goal o' obsidian to return to the espoused goal o' heavy-hitter for both classes as such were their raison d'etre. is no reason to have either class in deadfire less they fulfill a role, and role were dps heavy hitters... not murderous arsonists. as such, use poe design fails, the correcting o' which will be a goal o' obsidian to correct, might not be best argument when speaking o' deadfire rogue identity. HA! Good Fun!
  25. I don't give a ****, what others like. They liked Sagani. People even liked the new batman trilogy. For it's "character development and depth". So people are full of ****. I didn't even really like Pallegina as a character or "person" if you want. But she is not badly written or something and in principle I like her story. I think it's good to have those characters written by very different people, so they all feel like different personalities. Pallegina adds a certain facette to the game, so does Durance. I'll miss the Avalone aspect and I would shurely miss the Sawyer aspect too. I like Fenstermakers and Patels work, but I wouldn't want a party of Eders or Aloths and certainly not Saganis. And that is exactly what I fear will happen in Deadfire. Just look at this party of happy folks they presented us. didn't appreciate pallegina but still wanna argue? not surprised. seems to be a trend. 'course "like" character seems to have fluid meaning. a well-developed character ain't necessarily one a player would wanna invite to a ball game or a movie, eh? well developed characters can be loathsome, but needs must be intriguing. dry? flat? is not best adjectives for a companion. oh, and for a game developer, popularity is gonna be an extreme important measure. is arguable the most vital measure. is not as if josh is channeling his inner james joyce. spend a decade getting a publisher who will release dubliners exact the way he wrote it rather than make compromise. joyce didn't care 'bout sales. sure, he cared 'bout audience, but the audience for joyce were idealized rather than the actual public. he were writing for the select few now, and hopeful the future multitude, who might be able to appreciate his work. am not thinking josh has such pretensions 'bout his writing, and lord knows such a perspective on publishing ain't viable for a game developer. all poe companions added to the core theme(s) o' the game in some way. the companions were integral, if not necessary, for poe story. if most players didn't care 'bout a companion, then such were a fail on the part o' the developers, a failure which would handicap full appreciation o' the game. most important quality o' the companions, for a developer o' Popular Entertainment Media must needs be enjoyment. is axiomatic. is not genuine up for argument. elitist notions o' quality is swell and all, but is not particular relevant save for the individual espousing such notions. quality in a product such as poe is largely meaningless, and utter wasted, if is not also enjoyable by the intended audience. as an aside, am thinking enoch slipped a gear while in california. sophomoric humor? is not a criticism actually, but off-color is... uncharacteristic? perhaps enoch is one o' the few with a hacked boogie bass hanging on his home office wall? kinda wish we had a hacked boogie bass. HA! Good Fun!
