  2. not a good week for the truth https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/fact-checker/wp/2017/09/29/trump-aides-sell-tax-plan-with-pinocchio-laden-claims/?utm_term=.362567c228cc http://www.msn.com/en-us/news/factcheck/fact-checking-trumps-claims-from-his-speech-on-taxes/ar-AAsy8vm?ocid=spartanntp am actual in favor o' a tax overhaul and a lowering o' corporate tax, but the wh defense o' their proposal has been reminiscent o' those old jon lovitz snl segments. https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/the-fix/wp/2017/09/28/sarah-huckabee-sanders-piles-more-b-s-on-top-of-trumps-bogus-thad-cochran-claim/?utm_term=.40bdda10eb24 am not certain why the wh were trying to defend the thad cochran blunder, but this wh never admits an error even when defense makes one appear clownish. HA! Good Fun!
  3. or, simply a fighter? again, the rogue concept isn't actual "lightly armed fast moving fighter" though light armoured works well. typical Gromnir and other folks who use rogues want heavy and powerful arms. regardless, the concept is o' a brutal and undisciplined mercenary or shocktrooper. "hired muscle" is not a term we instant think o' when seeing ydwin or reading the blurb included as part o' her brief description. rogue, as described multiple times by obsidian both in and outta the game, works great for edér-- there should be no confusion 'bout the applicability o' rogue class to edér as a character. nevertheless, edér, who fits naturally w/i the concept makes less sense than ydwin as back alley hired muscle? *shrug* am at impasse. HA! Good Fun!
  4. once again indulging in hyperbole and conflating character with class. in poe, a murderer or assassin can be any class. is many murderers in poe who ain't rogues? need an actual list? am not certain why this point is so hard to accept save for the power o' nomenclature. if the class had been called landsknecht, as a few boardies suggested, we would be less likely to see this inexplicable conflating o' character and class, 'cause shocktrooper is how most folks actual used rogues in poe. give 'em the biggest and/or most deadly weapon and then send 'em into combat to wreak slaughter on foes suffering from a debilitating status effect. shocktrooper. beyond the post we linked, josh defended the concept here and elsewhere, so am thinking you is being a bit disingenuous or forgetful by suggesting the rogue-as-shocktrooper were a one-off which were quick abandoned. regardless, any class could be nasty and murderous so am not certain why folks keep bringing such up in these discussions. and no, not every rogue in the game is a thief, murderer or assassin. is hyperbole. even so, am gonna admit how given the clear preponderance o' rogues w/i the doemenel family, a person who were already umbilical cord attached to the "rogue" nomenclature o' past games could tunnel-vision themselves into seeing rogues as the the Thief Class. by the way, the in-game description o' rogues were: "Rogues are vicious killers, feared for the brutality of their attacks. They can be found as often in dark back alleys as the heart of battlefield skirmishes. Though unpredictable and undisciplined, rogues are commonly used as shock troops or as part of a surprise assault, their withering attacks breaking enemy ranks and morale. Rogues tend to congregate in larger numbers in cities where they can be steadily employed as mercenaries or hired muscle." so clear more than a single blurb and long after the initial announcement, the brutal combatant were the essence o' the rogue and not the murderous and thiefy baggage folks is carrying 'round from past and unrelated titles. sure, rogues is killers, but not necessarily murderers or thieves. as noted in the announcement, the rogue reputation is due to their brutal fighting style, and "not a propensity for theft or deception." given edér origin as part o' a undisciplined army, rogue makes perfect sense. on the other hand, ydwin were described, with what little description we got, as a scientist and Not a back-alley leg breaker. ydwin is wrong kinda rogue. folks is conflating; getting tangled up in previous game descriptions. regardless, and back to the original point, based on the in-game description o' poe rogues, edér makes perfect story sense. furthermore, obsidian weren't hiding the reason they changed to fighter and it weren't for story reasons. were simple the recognition o' how tank dependant were poe combats, particular for new players. now for deadfire obsidian could abandon their earlier rogue notions and simple huddle in the warm embrace o' the vast majority o' thiefy rogues from dozens o' past crpgs. would be a mistake, but it would make easier for the folks unwilling to let go. HA! Good Fun!
  5. That's correct. Eder can be a fighter or a rogue (which still makes no sense to me). Ydwin can be a cipher or a rogue. I recall something about that in PoE1, they initially wanted him to be a rogue, but decided that didn't really fit his storyline/background. Might be a bit of a callback to that, give the option for him. had nothing to do with the story. were a recognition regarding poe gameplay and the desirability o' an early and obvious tank. edér is fine as a rogue. https://forums.obsidian.net/topic/65025-update-71-the-heavy-hitters-rogues-and-rangers/page-1 "Resident heavy-hitting rogue, Edér." "In Pillars of Eternity, the designation of a character as a "rogue" signifies their vicious, brutal style of fighting, not a propensity for theft or deception. More than any other class, rogues exemplify the adage that the best defense is a good offense. If fighters are the disciplined, reliable, well-trained units that hold the line, rogues are the shock troops that attempt to break through that line to take out vulnerable units before they can effectively retaliate. When pinned down, rogues can suffer from their weak defenses, but ideally they carry their momentum from one target to the next in short order." mechanics boost for rogues were not a lockpicking thing so much as it were explained as a battlefield soldier's requisite knowledge o' boobytraps. now maybe you believe obsidian did a bad job making in-game rogues match their vision. maybe you can't shake previous rogue nomenclature from literal dozens o' previous games. whatever. regardless, edér switch to fighter were not a function o' story, 'cause from obsidian pov, edér made perfect sense as a rogue. ... now ydwin as an obsidian rogue is a bit o' a head scratcher, but they also got the anime-inspired goth girl in a mini-skirt and entering melee combat with fragile little spectacles, so am thinking we throw rational out the window and just kinda accept how she is a kinda pandering sidekick meant to satisfy a small but vocal preference exhibited 'mongst the fanbase. am guessing obsidian coulda' made ydwin half-feline as the result o' her experimentation if they wanted to go extreme over-the-top, but perhaps such wackiness were too much for the developers to indulge. HA! Good Fun!
  6. am thinking this might be the essential fail when attempting to explain trump. you are looking for meaning behind the action. for trump, there rare is a difference. act is the meaning. trump is dangerously self-centered and impulsive, but his wealth has always protected him from the consequences. how many trump businesses has failed? a couple decades ago he were +$900 million in debt. he made his way back to billionaire status by managing to convince banks and investors (many o' whom would suffer for their myopia) that he were a big deal. but at the core, he likes big. he likes gold. such preferences is not part o' some machiavellian calculation. they is. he is. americans, both those who like and those who hate trump, wanna give him depth. those who like trump see him as some kinda genius who is secret manipulating... sub 40% approval ratings and no noteworthy legislation or signature programs since he took office? trump reacts. is no deep plan. many of those who hate trump also see depths in him which ain't there, 'cause the alternative is the admission they were bamboozled and beaten by a borderline sociopath with impulse control issues who is extreme sensitive 'bout the size of his... hands. if 'chauncey gardiner' were vainglorious and pugnacious ... use occam's razor on trump and you are left with exact what you see in the picture. HA! Good Fun!
  7. so you got impressive space with what appears to be fantastic views and you turn it into a cliché. is1990s eastern european oligarch a style? ... whatever. somehow is reassuring to know a billion dollars can't save somebody from being tacky. gonna be our last comments regarding nfl demonstration... at least until something meaningful happens. kaepernick is a comical idjit. as we noted earlier, kaepernick's original protest was ill-conceived, ill-defined, and self-defeating. no positive changes were promoted once he acquired national attention. he made no attempt to do anything other than sit on sidelines and then spew forth doggerel at post-game conferences while wearing castro t-shirts and shades. unfortunately, 'cause he were first, those who followed has been stuck with the baggage o' his initial protests. he were, in point o fact, protesting the flag and america and everything the stars and bars were representing. kaepernick were sporting his pig socks and acting the fool every time he got in front o' a camera. however, while kaepernick ain't a jackie robinson, or a muhammad ali, am nevertheless glad he eventual took a knee during the anthem. am also kinda glad trump's misguided attacks 'pon the nfl and its players breathed new life into a torpid cause. hurl posted a picture o' tommie smith and john carlos as they protested in 1968. no, kaepernick's protest ain't the same. the situation ain't the same. am thinking it were in another thread wherein gd posted a link from the recent ken burns documentary: the vietnam war. if you get the chance, check out the episode which covers 1968. different. much different. even so, am understanding the frustration o' those who protested in 1968. their generation endured two decades o' fire and blood, but since brown v. board and the civil rights acts, what monumental changes has been made? sure, has been incremental and meaningful progress, but is glacial and largely silent. the children o' our generation is more accepting o' racial differences than were our parent's, and the next generation will be even more accepting than is ours. forward. inching forward. but is that it? is this as good as it gets? admitted, what laws or government policies can be crafted to make folks be more enlightened? is there any such thing a government can do, or is we stuck waiting for our great-grandkids to final look back 'pon us as ignorant dinosaurs? the frustration is understandable and reasonable. we look at the enormous changes which were achieved by the previous generations and feel shame at the lack o' our progress. race relations didn't sudden get worse in the mid 2000s. the economy got worse, and for many folks, black and white, it ain't yet improved. no job. no hope. no... future. when you is angry and afraid, you blame bad guys for your situation. to many black teens living in chicago and baltimore, the bad guys is cops. to unemployable coal miners in west virginia, the bad guys is blm and tree-hugger liberals. even so, only the very young would think to see equivalence 'tween race relations o' today and what were occurring in the 60s, or 70s... or even the 90s with the rodney king and oj simpson trials. things is better, but the fubar economic situation for too many americans has brought forth anger and fear. expect anger and fear to be well articulated and focused is silly. two best things which happened for the nfl anthem protests: 1) kaepernick lost his nfl job, which meant he weren't weekly in front o' cameras saying stoopid stuff; and 2) trump went off script, again, in alabama and made the nfl a new target in his weekly/daily culture war. even so, am glad kaepernick took a knee. yeah, it ain't 1968, or anything close to 1968. the incredible improvements made in the past few decades is pretty darn amazing and people can be proud o' such improvements, but am thinking it is also easy to forget just how much bigotry o' all kinds permeates our culture here in the US in 2017. am also not sure exact how it happened, but the relative recent acceptance o' hate groups being functional legitimized by inclusion within the umbrella o' alt-right woulda' been unfathomable to us in 2000. am thinking we, as a people, need take a long and serious look at ourselves in the mirror. as much as it disappoints folks to hear, we do not believe bigotry can be exorcised through legislation. there is still battles to be fought in the war for racial equality, and our generation and the next is gonna need make sacrifices, as individuals, if we wanna see a time when we can justifiably declare victory. kaepernick, as much o' a maroon as he is, did/does reminds us how the fight 'gainst racial inequality continues. as an aside, an alternative to the anthem protests would be to use one o' the following songs to follow the national anthem every week. am not genuine serious, but is good songs and we wouldn't mind hearing 'em weekly as a kinda reminder o' how much further we got to go before we can claim to have seen the end o' racial bigotry in this nation. HA! Good Fun!
  8. well, from the pictures, and w/o context, one would expect it were going to be the whitest luau ever. lotta polo shirts. awkward dancing. wine coolers. HA! Good Fun!
  9. You remember how they used to tell you drinking kills brain cells? And that the effects were cumulative? I bet you believe them now! am pretty sure the brain cell kill off from alcohol has been relegated to myth, but if it makes y'all feel better, am a teetotaler (though we do cook with alcohol) and have noticed an "old dog, new tricks" problem as we age. ... mayhap lemon-lime kool aid is the real killer o' brain cells. given our abuse o' the beverage over the years, we would not be shocked to hear how yellow dye #5 causes early onset dementia. would explain a few things. HA! Good Fun!
  10. is something a few o' the nfl haters may have lost sight o', but am thinking one o' the unsung heroes in the trump-anthem kerfuffle is the NFL. the anthem protest is Not a First Amendment issue per se. as contract employees o' the nfl, nfl players cannot use nfl games as a venue to make political statements unless the NFL allows such. lester holt showing up to do nbc nightly news in a stylish greenpeace inspired RESIST t-shirt would not be acceptable. ... though we highly recommend the purchase. anybody here would be surprised if nbc prevented mr. holt from doing his nightly news bit while wearing the above t-shirt? maybe vol, but am doubting anybody else would be shocked. first amendment is a prohibition 'gainst Government action. nfl is not a government actor. as an american, your free speech "rights" while at your job is understandably limited. however, the NFL has made a conscious choice and decided anthem protests, while not protected by the Constitution, will be protected by the League. whatever your feelings is 'bout individual team owners and their treatment o' kaepernick, or whatever else you think is a meaningful measure o' nfl integrity, it is the League which has given players license to make visible and highly public protests during games. hate the nfl if you wish, but am thinking a few folks is misunderstanding what is First Amendment rights and what kinda free speech an nfl player is owed at an NFL event. the nfl may be as evil as some o' you believe, but give'em credit where credit is due. the league could object to anthem protests, and is likely they could legal prevent such. however, in their wisdom, the League made the right choice and has allowed and even supported the anthem protests. all too often there is a difference 'tween what is legal and what is right. (am constant making this point to clients and colleagues) the NFL has done the right thing, even if they ain't legal obligated to do so. good on them. HA! Good Fun!
  11. complete forgot our local cbs station is one hour early for their national scheduled programming, so 8:00pm shows start at 7:00pm. saw pilot star trek from the 30 minute mark and were a bit perplexed... particular as we avoided any kinda information 'bout the show pre-release. all we got so far is the main character is the worst first officer... ever. oh, and apparently the star trek: discovery klingons is fanatics (religious) with extreme extravigant makeup and costuming choices. HA! Good Fun!
  12. but alternative facts can be. HA! Good Fun!
  13. That's ok though. As a wise man once wrote the point of going fishing is not actually to catch fish. weren't a wise man. were our a-hole father dropping that pithy bit o' fluff After a fishless day... after waking at 4:30 am... after trekking a mile-and-a-half through calf-deep snow and 'cross a frozen reservoir simple to get to the "perfect" spot... after +4 hours o' sitting on a plastic five-gallon bucket, in near utter silence (our father were a taciturn man) as we watched our snot freeze and our tip-ups not tip-up once... after somehow making it back to our jeep carrying a marine's worth o' gear through a literal blizzard. experience gave lie to the wisdom. if we hadn't been so exhausted when dad dropped his fishless insight 'pon us, we woulda' been tempted to club him like a kanadian going after a baby fur seal. HA! Good Fun!
  14. dear lord. the reason we got folks protesting is precise 'cause Americans actual 'member what it is to fight for independence. unlike homogenized people o' much o' the rest o' the western world with populations as meek and placid as hindu cows, here in the US we ain't never let go o' the perceived right o' civil disobedience. see a wrong and American first reaction is to complain loud and long. sure, everybody got a different notion as to what is the wrong being challenged, but having varied opinions is what makes the US a bit different. we got people who forgo anthem for personal reasons o' conscience. got folks who have religious reasons for abstaining from anthem observance. got people who believe the reason why our forefathers fought, and bled and died for independence in the 1700s were precise so people in 2017 wouldn't have to bend knee or bow before any king or flag. mlk and emerson is lauded for their efforts. muhammad ali, who threw his gold medal in the potomac, were the most recognizable man in the world for a time, and he is current a figure o' much respect in this country, regardless o' race, creed, color or gender o' the admirer. our heroes is often the guys who stood up to the Government and metaphorical or literal yelled, "no more." and again, this ain't a homogenized nation. we got considerable diversity with many different backgrounds, beliefs. we got much greater economic disparity as well. many minorities didn't get legal equal rights until the 1960s, which is almost half a century after irish independence. we personal got family members who consider themselves patriotic americans. we also got family members who reject the notion o' the US government's authority, and they got good cause for such antipathy, just as the patriots feel vindicated. bah. silliness. HA! Good Fun! ps what kinda bizarro star trek mirror universe is it wherein lockstep and reflexive honoring o' and anthem or flag is evidence o' appreciation o' freedom and the fight for independence?
  15. A Wild Bison Was Spotted in Germany for the First Time in Two Centuries. Then It Was Shot. HA! Good Fun!
  16. Raylan: What do you know about kidneys? Ash: They're the Cadillac of beans. so, Gromnir had kidney beans sitting in our pantry for the past few months and we finally decided to do something with'em. weren't gonna make "chili" 'cause while we recognize beans and tomatoes is chili staples in some places, we can't bring our self to defile decent chili with such ingredients. so we instead decided to make the world's easiest red beans and rice recipe. sure, am knowing smaller red or pink beans is more traditional, but am actual preferring the deeper flavor o' kidney beans for our red beans and rice. even so, am admitting we commit a culinary faux pas and will endure whatever scorn and ridicule is directed our way for violating The Code. 1 lb kidney beans-- rinsed aggressive and then placed in fridge overnight in... 2 quarts o' water 2 onions-- chopped 2 bib celery-- chopped (do not discard leafy portion) 1 immaculate bell pepper-- chopped (btw there is a difference 'tween three and four lobe peppers. for long simmers, we typical choose 3 lobe) 2 teaspoons kosher salt 1-2 teaspoons cayenne pepper (depends on your love/hate o' heat) 1 teaspoon garlic powder 1-2 teaspoons thyme (depends on how strong is your sausage... particular if sausage is bland, add a bit more thyme) 2 (don't laugh) bay leaves 1 lb sausage (andouille, or whatever) cooked and cut into 1/2' slices rice 1) soak beans overnight 2) add beans and water in which beans were soaking to a large pot along with onion, celery and pepper. bring to a boil, reduce heat to achieve simmer and then cover and let cook for 90 minutes. do not stir 'less you somehow lose water to evaporation and need to add more to keep from becoming a dry paste... which you should not need to do. 3) after 90 minutes o' watching college football, add remaining ingredients (sausage and spices) to your pot. stir a couple times. cover the pot again. let cook 30 more minutes. 4) cook your rice. add a portion o' cooked beans to rice in a bowl. if you got a favorite hot sauce, feel free to go overboard with the heat... or not. you now got a big bowl o' comfort food with minimum o' effort. congratulations. HA! Good Fun!
  17. a few observations, a number o' which we know won't be popular. first, kaepernick didn't start by taking a knee. he sat. he sat on the sidelines during the anthem. during practices he wore socks with pigs wearing police hats. he spouted a fair bit o' nonsense too during press conferences and alienated Cuban americans and any number o' other groups with ill-considered rhetoric. second, his protest, which has thankful morphed, were original directed at police violence and the national government's indifference to such violence. am knowing folks don't like to hear this, but even the notorious RBG observed how kaepernick's protest were kinda ridiculous. the fed government is specific prohibited from direct control o' police power. municipalities and counties and states got police forces. complaining 'bout the federal government's indifference to police violence is largely misguided and ignorant. however, as we observed, kaepernick's protest did evolve so as to become a more generalized protest o' the racial divide in this country as 'posed to specific 'bout police violence... though now the message is so vague it doesn't have focus. is no leader neither to speak for the movement. each protester voices slight different reasons for protesting. kaepernick started the protest, but he ain't a leader (on or off the field) and the protest has never had a clear message or goal. (gonna take particular heat for this next bit, but we accept.) third, am unconvinced the protest has achieved any tangible benefits. trump's actions has actual probable done more unintended good for the protest movement than any other single person as folks in numerous sports who may have been on the fence 'bout the message clear has found solidarity in the pushback 'gainst trump's ridiculous appeal for firings. the thing is, before trump's inane comments regarding the protests, what had the protests achieved? more awareness of... what exactly? am still not certain o' the actual message o' the protests, but has the protests heightened awareness o' the deep racial divide in this country? has protests increased awareness regarding acts o' police violence? was such actual needed? more important, has the protests reduced racial divisions or police violence? has new legislation been authored in response to kaepernick's protests? violence directed at police and by police has actual Increased in the past couple years after a steady and consistent decrease for over a decade. am not blaming on kaepernick and the protesters, but polarization and fear has only become worse since ferguson. personal we blame obama AND trump for failing to help unify instead o' divide, but we have beaten that horse to death. fourth the protesters are wasting an incredible opportunity. we went to cal, so am familiar with the folks who protest for the sake of protesting. hard part is what you do after you got the nation's (or the world's) attention. do nothing? have a protest and then pat self on the back for your good deed? *snort* protests is a great opportunity for unified athletes to send out a message. perhaps the message is how low income minorities (and whites for that matter) following the economic downturn has Not actual recovered. employment rates is up, but not for many segments o' our population. maybe the protesters is in agreement with shady 'bout universal health care? then say it. maybe with the recent awareness o' brain injury studies, nfl players recognize how our health care and welfare systems is complete and utter failing those people with mental illness. perhaps police violence is the evil? if so, then what is the solution being sought? less police violence? fine, but how? why isn't there a voice 'mongst the protesters articulating what it is for which they protest? the protest is easy. now do something. wanna be like jackie robinson or muhammad ali, then step up and honor their memory by making a difference. kneeling for a minute +16 times a year? am not impressed. ... am not having a problem with folks protesting. am thinking some good does come from such protests even if the message is unclear or, well, misguided. kaepernick lack o' a meaningful message is troubling to Gromnir. the fact kaepernick were initially sporting his pig socks and acting like a jackarse were troubling. nevertheless, am thinking it is good that highly visible minorities stood up (or knelt) to show how angry they is with the current state o' race relations. if only there was a voice and a message to make the protests meaningful. instead we have these silly fights over the legitimacy o' the protests but the protesters ain't taking advantage o' the opportunity to make things better. end rant HA! Good Fun!
  18. Wizards were still limited to four spells of each level by combat though, unless they switched grimoires. Priests and druids could use their whole spell arsenal in every fight (what I call a Favored Soul without the drawbacks). and if a similar approach were used for deadfire priests, as long as a generalist were also included, we would be more than satisfied, 'cause such limitations were not particular onerous. add some equivalent o' switch spell books after or even during combat but have access to four spells per level? sure, when facing new and unexplored areas the practical priestly spell lead-out would be a bit general, but after first encounter with spirits or vessels or ogre druids or bugs, being able to switch to a more specialized 4 spell menu is a virtual non handicap... as it were for wizards in poe. more than wizards and even druids, the vast majority o' priest spells is situational useful, particular the prayer against _______ group. many priest spells in deadfire will simply become bloat (and as already noted, the priest catalog is already small compared to wizards Plus there is the mandatory school prohibition to limit further) as no reasonable build is gonna make use o' such limited applicable spells when forced to make hard choices. is gonna natural lead to homogenization. unfortunate. counter to design goals. bad. HA! Good Fun!
  19. well, on the lighter side, how 'bout a little morgan freeman? what? doesn't everybody like morgan freeman? HA! Good Fun!
  20. as the activists likes to say, "real change begins at home." as such, melania has her work cut out for her, no? HA! Good Fun!
  21. none of which helps the skaenite, who will miss out on the other inspiration essentials as well. doesn't much help the priest o' eothas who can't cast essential protection spells either. nice for priests of wael. and 'course this kinda situation sorta breeds the bg2 sorcerer issue, but worse. with few exceptions, most bg2 sorcerers ended up with near identical spell lists, 'cause as you note, there is gonna be relative no-brainer spell choices at each level. unfortunately, as we are talking priests and not bg2 arcane spell casters, the spell catalog will likely be smaller and our deadfire priests will also need deal with the additional burden o' prohibitions on spell schools. pool o' spells is even smaller. we very much run the risk o' seeing the exact opposite o' what obsidian intended with deadfire as is fair to predict a homogenization o' priestly spell choices. priests o' eothas and wael and skaen is, 'cause of very predictable spell choices, likely to become more similar rather than less. HA! Good Fun! ps perhaps easiest way to look at this is the following: in poe, Gromnir could play a stabby-stabby, kill-kill priest o' skaen who wielded stilettos and/or clubs and wreaked horrible destruction 'pon enemies with our weapons and spells. in deadfire, if we wanna play anything other than a rouge-like priest, am gonna be sacrificing many o' the priest's most effective spells for nothing in return. if not wanna add godless as we suggested elsewhere, then perhaps allow an option for all priests to choose to forgo the enumerated advantages and disadvantages o' a deity choice. a skaen rejecting advantages/disadvantages would still benefit or suffer from disposition standing when using holy radiance, but no spell school prohibitions or access to rogue abilities. just a thought.
  22. if not for the harsh school prohibition, the change would make sense... sorta. wizards weren't functional much different from priests in poe except at low levels. fill up your spell book(s) with spells purchased or copied from fallen wizards has poe 1 wizards having access to virtual every spell in the game... just like priests. yeah, priests instant knowing spells at level up were a big advantage early in the game, but were a non-factor mid-to-late. also, similar to d&d, poe wizards had larger spell catalogs to choose from. in ad&d, or even d&d 3e, the complete priest catalog were including dozens o' spells. arcane users got spell catalogs numbering hundreds. were similar in poe. wizard had 14 1st level spells possible... oh which our aloth always had all 14 by endgame. wizard could know 15 2nd level. again, aloth always knew between 14 and 15. however, the poe priest catalog were significant smaller with only 9 first and second level spells. the old d&d system actual made a kinda sense given the built-in limit on the potential spells available to the respective casters. sadly, poe carried over the busted system with a paucity o priest spells. will priests get more potential spells in deadfire. if not, why not? unfortunately, particular for a new priest player uninterested in metagaming, things is gonna be rough... 'special w/o a generalist option such as wizards can choose. HA! Good Fun!
  23. considering how limiting the "school" prohibitions is for a few priests, this change strikes us as particular harsh. be sure you choose... wisely. am gonna wait for the beta, but am foreseeing how it will be quite easy to accidental build a terrible priest, which should be counter to the design philosophy. HA! Good Fun!
  24. went to a professor once with a real property question. the guy were impressive looking in a meditative walrus kinda way. enormous. bald. big bushy whiskers. contemplative. anyways, he musta used "impignorate" a half dozen times as he explained to us 'bout some rule in some case, while we nodded as if we understood. tried figuring out definition from context but weren't helping much as he were being so technical. *shrug* thanked the professor for his time and left his office to immediate go in search o' a dictionary. so, other than memorizing our social security number, we can say our years o' higher education also taught us the definition o' impignorate... which, btw, has nothing to do with the impregnation o' pigs. HA! Good Fun!
  25. I saw dotard on Google Trends and had to look it up am kinda surprised by how many folks has mentioned similar. were an article at cnn (perhaps) explaining dotard. didn't realize we were being so archaic when referencing our dotage or being a dotard. ... quick search reveals we used "dotage" on these boards as recent as june 2017. color us embarrassed. HA! Good Fun! ps unnecessary clarification: Gromnir is not a kim jong un alt. honest. (feel free to imagine the addition o' a shifty-eyed smiley here)
