A picture of innocence; the flower of youth -- before the cynical universe vitiates her moral fibre as her search for meaning takes her through the teachings of all Force Sensitives before her final, adulterated appearance in KotOR:TSL. For Kreia is the Prophet of the New Order: The Force is malevolently controlling the galaxy for its own ends, and the FSs are its pawns. The next and greatest battle will be between the Counter-Force disciples of the Prophet-Martyr against the FS sheep, who blindly live and die for a secret agenda, kept from them by The Force. :D "

That's okay. As I have said before (though not to you, directly) you're grasp of English is several standard deviations above my grasp of Russian (or Italian, for that matter). I think I may be deaf or missing some critical neurological element -- certainly I have a lot of trouble with the diction in music -- so I take a lot longer to learn foreign languages .... and my accent is atrocious (so I am quite comfortable in the written media!) But I will grant you that John Cleese did make a good argument for the sexiness of the Russian language in A Fish Called Wanda.

Celebrating episode III: Kyla's fanart
metadigital replied to Kyla Carth's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Not for the felinephobic amongst is. I thought it was terrific. My cats are cooler, though. Furry and Rocky. Rocky plays tag. Both know their names and come when called (although Rocky thinks his middle name is "naughty"). PS> Kyla your artwork is professional; if you don't work in the graphic industry then you might want to -- good graphic novel ideas, too. You could make your own KotOR comics! -
And Visas. Why is there no Visas/Exile Romance art anywhere? Oh, and why didn't she have a russian accent? ...sexiest language ever... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> No my friend, Italian is a sexy language. None of that guteral spitting and glottal hacking that you hear in French, Portuguese and Spanish: just melifluous banter that flows like milk and honey over the ears. Not as harsh as the German tongue, nor as hectic as the Russian and Persian cousins: just pure sensual, salacious and seductive. :D

Character Look-a-likes
metadigital replied to Royal_Nonesuch's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Yes. Then again, he's not really a "real" person either, now is he? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Well Disciple does resemble that individual, but, for once, I have to say Disciple is better looking! Disicple always reminded me of this cartoon chracter as well--more so in attitude than actual appearance though. Royal <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Heh! Or Peter Perfect from the Wacky Races Edit: Oh, and one more linky: "... Peter Perfect is anything but, with his car always falling apart, and he spends more time fawning over Penelope Pitstop than worrying about the race. ..." -

Yes. Then again, he's not really a "real" person either, now is he? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> None of you are real. (Had to squeeze in one existentialism joke.) PS Is that the guy from Average Joe? -
:"> Very boring...and I'm at school now ...won't post much that's for sure <{POST_SNAPBACK}> OMG Baley you are still posting! I thought you'd have to stop whilst at school ... looks like you are more like HK than we realise! "... won't ever stop -- ever -- ..." (Michael Biehn, as Kyle Reece referring to the eponymous villian, in Terminator, 1984)

This is the funniest thing I have seen this decade. :D <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I agree! Sounds like Fionavar ha something in common with HK-47!

Yeah, this is about my 6th time around too, just finally realized why Kreia saved Tobin because he opened up and told me. I'm impressed and appreciative of what Obsidian was able to do, rather than focusing on what they couldn't. I suspect that it gets criticized because it is so subtle, and that's different and unique, not at all the norm. But wow, it's my kind of story. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I "get" subtle. I work games methodically (game theory, probing for weaknesses whether logic or otherwise that might give me a winning advantage). I had Tobin, for example, dribbling and whining out his pathetic story first time through (high persuade, high charisma). As GB Shaw said of a book he reviewed for a man, who noticed the pages hadn't been cut past the first few (an indication that the book hadn't been read past that point; books were printed on folded paper and, more recently, the pages cut before sale) complained: "I do not need to eat an entire apple to know that it is bad." This game could have been incredible (operative word, "could", past tense wishful thinking): it had all the foundations for a bigger, better game that K1. It wasn't. And the flaws, to me, inhibit re-plays so much that I have been playing Half-Life 2, Rome: Total War, NwN and, indeed, K1 instead.

I think it is more a question of the structure of the dialgue mechanism. By that, I mean, that once you have (e.g. gained influence) you will have access to responses in the dialgue tree that weren't available before. This is an accepted and useful way to manage the process of talking to someone. (Let's face it, if you buy into the [Awareness] or [Wisdom] concept, then this is just an extension of that technique.) Perhaps there should be a line about Mira's family -- maybe a choken off exclamation about her parents, or whatever -- between the "Why you never kill" and "[Awareness]" lines. There are other instances, in K2 and other games, where this tactic is used, so I understood what was happenning. (Frequently a line of dialogue that will solve a "gatekeeper" type NPC is not available until a quest is performed, thus managing the flow fo events in the game by ensuring the quest is done before the NPC gate is passed.)

Especially the first one: "I'll be back."

(w00t) Oh, I don't know -- Aarrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr-gh!

You mean you're not a Twi'Lek? That's another annoying thing in the games: have you seen a male Twi'Lek (like in RotJ) ? Or 4000 years ago did the Twi'Leks reproduce via some sort of meiotic cloning? I'd like to be / have as a party PC a yoda-ling (or whatever they're called -- but not a know-it-all). Nothing ventured, nothing gained. The more effort you put in, the greater the rewards: playing as a different species / class / culture / gender / whatever (hopefully) gives you insight into how those differences affect others. If you are just playing you all the time you will only learn about how you interact in a new scenario. Baley, you don't have to copulate with everything! There is such a concept as platonic friendship, like between C3PO and R2D2, or fraternal (sororal) or agape love. You sound like Billy Connolly (and his summary of the first thoughts hard-wired into humans and other animals, via the reptilian part of the brain): Can I eat it? Can it eat me? Can I shag it?

Ah, little grasshopper, I see the exotic concept of sarcasm has not broached your universe yet. Do not let it concern you, these matter of the higher consciousness, merely understand that there are things beyond your comprehension. Translation: I was making a totally different, caustic reference to the dumbing down of society in general and not a blatant sexist remark. Perhaps you missed the onus I placed on the antecedent of the sentence?

As above.

Um, the closest I can say is Aphrodite, Goddess of Love and Beauty (even though she was more suited to Goddess of Lust and Passion " )

Deus ex Machina: the Will of The Force ...
metadigital replied to metadigital's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
I couldn't find a walrus, or a seal / sealion, so how about a shark: - Feeling threatened - Feeling vulnerable - Adopting a victim stance - Preying on others - A devious character, one that uses others, a shark Unless you had some other interpretation, like a Beatles song, perhaps? -
Freedom I can deal with. Mindless and endless and pointless, I am a little less partial to. If it wasn't for the boots of speed (and my magic-resistant whatever race she was, so that I could actually wear them and still half see) then I would have given up even sooner. " I got sooooooo bored I started running/swimming across country to get to some -- any -- interesting encounter.
