  1. Are you tempted to play? You could be the Dominion, or the Borg ...
  2. It's a Star Trek diplomacy game ... "
  3. Is Archduke Queen? Rumour in Italy is flying about the gender preferences of FerdinAllan. Even though there are millions of adoring women apparently throwing themselves at him, he has not been seen actually doing anything. This has led many to speculate that he might be more interested in his pageboy, that always seems to accompany him everywhere (even into the lavatories). Italian gossipmongers are sure that the royal shirt is lifted more in persuit of biting pillows than sowing his wild oats. "Just look at the guy," says Giovani Milani, a noted royal-watcher, "he even looks like he enjoys taking it up the exhaust." The Italian government would not be drawn on the speculation.
  4. So you aren't in for the Diplomacy game 4, then?
  5. Ninjas are covert ops, grasshopper.
  6. I wasn't doubting you (you can edit the data files and read the entire script, btw, if you have a modded Xbox or the PC version). I was more making an observation about the state of the ending. "
  7. Ah, what about Chinatown? There's already a big hole in the US defence network ...
  8. I'd like to see the evidence you have to back that statement. I think that lately China's military power is being grossly overrated. Wait, shouldn't this go in the other thread? " <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Well, depends on semantics to a point, but I wouldn't fancy anyone trying to invade China. Maybe India. You would have to use nukes, there aren't enough bullets. (Very technical, but take my word for it.") It's got nothing to do with secrets and everything to do with numbers. They have more. A lot more.
  9. No, Revan's dead, alright. Mical's just a sick puppy: necrophilia and all ... " That sounds exactly like what she says about the Exile ...
  10. It's just lazy writing. I could write around it, so they should.
  11. Well, all bets are off if they bring him back: he could be anything from a Jedi to a Sith Lord, and everything in between, even to the point of having a good voice actor!
  12. I wouldn't be convinced if GL wrote me a personal invitation to talk to Revan and ask her. Your reasons are entirely selfish. "I want a LS male Revan"; well I want a non-specific gender and alignment for both the characters. And again, you are missing the point: Alternate endings and customizable characters are noted in the Continuity Notes field. If needed, a definitive ending is chosen (ie the light side ending in Jedi Knight) and recorded into the database. Another example is the decision to make Revan a male character. Again, these types of things are only determined when needed. I don't need a set gender and alignment for Revan. Only weak people do. "Oh please, tell me who Revan was!"
  13. Don't sigh, Mr Lazy Ghost! I knew you could quote canon and you were lazy not to include it in your initial post, so that everyone could discuss the issue freely and fully. I don't envy Mr Chee and his sisyphean (literally) task. That said, I prefer not to have a fixed gender nor alignment for either Revan or Exile, as Steve said: and I can't see any reason to adjust this viewpoint. Then again, I think that the novelisations of SW are a decent flypaper that can be used to herd all the gibbering fanboys into a room where all the sharp objects can be taken from them, safely.
  14. The alternative is a game where the player has to learn all the esoteric keypresses and execute them in order, quickly, to conduct combat. I am not a fan of button mashing, so I prefer that the producers err on the side of pause between rounds. After all, you can turn this feature off, if you don't like it. Wait a minute! Are you telling me you thought Bao-Dur was voice acted well? You're welcome.
  15. Overrated: Death Underrated: Life An unlived life is not worth examining. Bizzaro Socarates
  16. Ya I wish they'd ge out of our lap, they sweat alot <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I think John Howard is aware of your gripes. This changes nothing, however. You might just as well tell Canada to stop living next door to the US, for all the good it will do you. A goverment's first responsibility is defence. Period. It is pragmatism. While the US keeps the peace, I see no moral imperative to prevent them from having nuclear weapons. Don't forget all the permanent members of the Security Council, as well as a few others, have them. If China picks a fight with the US, then you'll be glad the US has nukes. There is no way to win a conventional war against China.
  17. People fight their family members, so I doubt the issues are external to humans. We are wired to be competitive, and that means fighting. And war is just the logical extension of this. People would argue about which end of the egg should be opened.
  18. Because the system is inherently combatative. Winner takes all. Being in opposition relegates politicians of equal merit to just being the naysayers of whatever the government decides. Which is quite wrong. I can understand where the party system came from, and what it is trying to achieve, but I think it fails as a cogent form of government. Coherent, yes. Effecacious, yes. But then, Hitler got the trains to run on time ... What I'm saying is there needs to be more "conscience" voting. Why this term even exists demonstrates the biggest flaw in Western democracies.
  19. On behalf of France, I surrender!
  20. Yes, it does. (about Revan) Linky This is not the OFFICIAL star wars website, but the things in the article are taken from the official sources. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> How is the wikipedia an official source? In fact, it cannot be: ... [*]If you do not want your writing to be edited mercilessly and redistributed at will, do not submit it. 21. Listen, Nazi, my opinion is just as valid as yours, even if you don't like it. I am posting my comment on the question posed. If you don't like it, don't read it. And don't spam the topic telling me not to post.
  22. He's a placeholder for the future. If they make another game, they have a ready character to use as a high-level NPC (even a bad guy). I found no joy in replaying the game. I discovered nearly all the story in the first playthrough. That's because the combat was identical (same engine); except that, for reasons not explained, the BAB is uniform to all classes of Jedi and so overwelming that it quickly dwarfs all other combat bonuses due to attributes, feats, skills and items. Secondly, it appears that a decision was made late in the development cycle to multiply all the XP gained from combat (probably doubling it across the board). I can only deduce that this was to ensure that players experienced their PC at epic levels, after discovering that there was insufficient content to do so. After all, there's not much point in raising the level cap to 50 if the PC can only reach level fifteen. I agree with your conclusion, but not all of your reasoning. The exposition of the story suffered at the hands of a clumsy, unsophisticated and unfinished Influence System. Secondly, I actually enjoy the philosophical underpinnings of the story, except where they are added as an afterthought, like this game. What I did like was the complexity of Kreia as a character (not a pantomime cut-out) and the range of play available for the PC. In fact, one of my criticisms is there were insufficient roles for the PC to play: outside of Goody-two-shoes, sack-of-kittens-drowner and a grey, median-type character that didn't always do the right thing but was basically not evil. Can't argue with this. The villains were obviously the last design item on the development schedule, because they were heavily cut. Atris as the baddy for a DS Exile, for example, would have made a big difference. Ditto for Nihilus being a real character.
