  1. I pre-order all the time. I never impulse buy (in a store), I plan my purchases to avoid buying CRAP. If I pre-order I get bonus loyalty points that translates into extra savings off the cost of future purchases. I do sometimes purchase in the first week: Oblivion, for example, because it wasn't clear that it was going to be as good as it turned out to be. I will probably pre-order Medieval II: Total War Collectors Edition, because I just read a kick-arse preview about it ... I'm sure the publishers use some sort of rule of thumb heuristic like "double the first four weeks' sales" to get an approximate total return on the game (which would be completely surpassed by a brilliant game, obviously).
  2. No. Look at the log. Do the characters attack each other regularly, with each one taking a turn? Yes. Turn-based.
  3. My first (and only) game was with a Psi.
  4. But ... Baley is a hero, despite his hircine predilictions ... oh, wait, that wasn't Baley you were talking about ... and his goatse "
  5. Go on! Start a new thread at Bioware! :D
  6. *waits until all the whiners start a topic at Bioware to eat humble pie*
  7. Someone from Atari might know what's happening. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Now why don't the Atari peoples post here, I wonder? "
  8. I have never heard of any issues related to laptop heat and their LCDs.
  9. It's dwarfism, that's what it is!
  10. I believe the question was "Where are you FROM?" and has nothing to do with current geographic coordinates.
  11. You'll ruin the game if you do that. It's a horror game. You shouldn't know what to expect when playing it for the first time. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> That's true. If you have a specific question or want guidelines to building your character you should post here instead. There a lot of people here who have played the game. I know I could give you general character building guidance that would allow you a fun playthough without any spoilers. From a puzzle-solving standpoint, it's a pretty easy and logical game. There's a lot of stuff you have to do in the game, but none of it is hard to figure out. One of the reasons I like it! edit: I should point out that the last level is kind of a pain and I don't like it all that much because its a little more "tricksy". WHenever I replay SS2, I usually stop after leaving the Rickenbacker. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I was distracted for a few weeks after I reached and I couldn't recall the controls and I saved in a fairly difficult place, and I just thought "Why am I playing this silly part of the game?"; really it was just difficult for difficulties-sake, like the last boss in Quake IV.
  12. I like sleep. Sleep is our friend.
  13. Agree 100% Wouldn't it make more sense for all the enemy to concetrate on one target?
  14. Just move the LCD away from the convection plume of the laptop if you are concerned. (I am not.)
  15. Thread pruned. Keep pictures posting or thread will be closed.
  16. emoticonoholic? Or smilie-obsessed? (Yes, YOU.)

  21. You seem awfully sure about that, almost religiously so ...
  22. True, both my father's father and my father could have used such a suit near the end of their lives.
  23. I am toying with redesigning my signature ... a nice change after years of croupier-damage compounding the hurry-up-and-sign-the-document pressure ... after all I'll be (even moreso) v. important so I will need an intimidating signature.
  24. Yes, thread pruned of boorish off-topic comments. Please keep the boorish comments on-topic in future. True. That's probably the biggest problem with forced labour, and it's a point often brought up. That, however, is already happening with the prices of labor in Eastern Europe and Asia. So I'd rather have local inmates do those jobs and save the state some money that can be used to improve social services and public infrastructures, than allow truly free competition and lose to foreign slave labour. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> It's generally the lowest strata of the workplace that may be replaced by forced labour ... application to the lowest common denominator. Though I guess with the increase of white-collar criminality it might be possible to provide forced IT labour (forced more than the current workplace, that is ).
