  1. That's good IMO. The only issue is that the new things they tried follow the same 'CINEMATICK" / emo approach. That is just a low blow. They do sort of follow a pattern though. "Formulaic" if you want. Based on NWN and Kotor I would expect to show up at a council which declare me very special and the saviour of the universe, sending me off to the four courners of game world to gather clues, which leads me to the hidden place where an ancient evil awaits me for a show down. It can be fun if well done though. I did like Kotor
  2. I hear Blackwater/Xe is looking for new work...
  3. Waiting for Steven Seagal to show up... Except they aren't really "terrorists", just plain ordinary criminals that have made a living out of ransoming and extortion. In any other part of the world, they would probably have been part of the local organised crime syndicate, less visible, just as criminal. Question is, how to stop it?
  4. Cute game. My gladiator, Gorthus Maximus has begun boot camp http://gorthus-maximus.mybrute.com/ One day, I shall supplant my master, Pidesco and I shall become master instead!
  5. There are no mini-games in Dragon Age: Origins. There are puzzles though. (But no towers of hanoi) Sweet music Heh, Towers of Hanoi brings back memories of one of the less good parts of Kotor. One of the few mods I've ever used (in any game) was the one that removed the randomly occurring turret minigame.
  6. Never underestimate the power of coffee... http://forums.obsidian.net/index.php?showtopic=419&hl= As for Bioware, they currently seem to appeal to a group of people that I don't belong to. Somebody heaping praise on me in a gushing voice doesn't make me feel special, it makes me cringe. Yes, I've been watching Mass Effect videos on Youtube. I am curious about Dragon Age and the current doctrine regarding mini games. I dislike them passionately, so if it doesn't have any (or very few/insignificant ones), it already scores a few points in my book without doing anything else.
  7. That is one unhappy looking cat >_
  8. I always wondered what the expression "Shooting yourself in the foot" was all about
  9. Sheena Easton - "For your eyes only" Sort of double appropriate (James Bond theme + she has done voice acting previously in a game produced by Feargus and the gang)
  10. If we had a few more ladies it wouldn't be. They love the uniform
  11. Is 'Awesome' better than 'Tyte'? Edit: and is this in any way related to Project New Jersey?
  12. It is perfectly possible to say that they have handled some things badly. I think what rubs some people the wrong way is the 'I have waited patiently, therefore they *owe* me!' attitude that some people (not you) seems to exhibit. On that note, I think it is time to let that subject rest, it has already been rehashed a couple of times over the years.
  13. A quick reskin of some of the critters and we present... X-Com: Crucible!
  14. I need to have words with the young people next door I don't get any stimulus packages... The world just isn't fair
  15. For your own and the other passengers safety, please remain seated with your seat belt fastened until we have been towed back unto the tarmac and parked safely at the terminal. We hope you had a pleasant journey and thank You for flying with Gorth Airways... Oh yeah, be careful with the stuff in the overhead lockers, it may have moved during the flight
  16. I think it depends to some degree on who you ask. I always understood it as a synonym for simplicity, i.e. sacrificing detail for ease of use. Somebody will probably come along and hit me over the head with a dictionary
  17. I still wonder where people get the 'dishonest' part from. Mind you, I've never really followed it *that* closely, although I do lurk every now and then on their forums, like peeking in once every fortnight. You weren't around at the time of the games release then. People were not just upset, they were acting like rabies infected dogs, frothing at their mouths. It was so bad the these very forums were facing closing for good. No "public relations" card was played, only the threat of not having a place to hang out and complain anymore This thread is really just a piece of nostalgia predating the time where TG had their own forums (and in many ways probably also outlived its usefulness) and to the best of my knowledge, Aurora hasn't been active for a very long time.
  18. Peoples self entitlement issues never ceases to astound me If people hate it so much, why keep moaning about it? Life is too short for that (not to mention that it gets repetitive).
  19. It is one of the secret gadgets of the forum, secretly disguised as the "REPLY" button
  20. Seems like we have entered the realm of the completely unrelated to video games stuff... Lets try again here
  21. Start of old thread End of old thread Almost through Throne of Bhaal. I suddenly realised how much I hated that Abizagail (sp?) fight. Grrr!...
  22. An "Inquisitor" crpg would be awesome (not to mention a darn good match for Obsidian style atmosphere and writing)
  23. Start of old topic End of old topic Just sitting here, speculating on why I don't buy any blu-ray movies. It is not because they are "expensive". They sure look nice on the high definition screen. Then it struck me that I am subconsciously boycotting region coding. I haven't bought any of the titles that I wanted because they are only available from overseas. I guess the movie industry can crash and burn for a while without my money. I'll go hunting for some more movie DVD's when I go shopping again (since I have a region free DVD player)
  24. So *thats* where my tax money goes... Got my new PC speakers all set up. I can now share the sound part of my games with my neighbours
