Let's Play: Jagged Alliance 2
I started a new game. SO no. Not yet. :/ What happened? The Drassen Counter attack?

Too similiar to Mass Effect?
Thread pruned a bit. Lets see if we can't reduce the noise levels a bit? >_ On topic: I fail to see any semblance with Mass Effect, in fact it makes me wonder if people that compares it that game have played that many crpgs? If anything, it seems to have a lot more in common with VMBL sans the setting/vampire theme. Or is it just because both games runs on the same Unreal engine licensed from the same third part, that people thinks that there are superficial similarities?

Favorite Music Genre
What he said In my younger days, I tried to classify and compartamentalise everything, but eventually I realised that I was trying to hit a moving target. These days, I try to classify music by less stringent things like mood or purpose instead. When needing to wring a bit more effort out of myself, I play a bit of Led Zeppelin, Accept, Dorothee Pesh, Kiss, Joan Jett etc. When feeling moody, I play gregorian chant or stuff like Clannad, Enya etc. When relaxing, very slow stuff like Kitaro, Sarah Brightman, Vangelis etc. When background "noise" is in order, some Stiltskin, The Jesus and Mary Chain, Garbage, The Primitives etc. When feeling introspective, I put on some Fleetwood Mac, The Cult, Queen, Pink Floyd etc. And so forth. Just example bands, plenty more where they came from.

What are you playing now?
Still playing Dead Space. Keep hitting my head against a wall here... or rather an asteroid. Nasty asteroid. I get my butt handed to me In my defence, it is a very BIG asteroid I managed once to get past the moving metal rings without getting split into an upper Gorth and a lower Gorth, just to die once I got outside. A group of necromorphs ganged up on me and turned it into an exciting contest to see who killed me first, physically inflicted damage or asphyxiation (sp?) Looks like I am in for a lot of reloads

PARPG
Hey look, it's a crate! Just kidding. Nice to see some love for the isometric perspective.

The Music Thread
I thought you loved all things Swedish? The "classification" is a bit off on some of those bands. Last time I checked, Queen wasn't exactly "heavy metal" Queen - "Killer Queen"

Gameplay Video findings
Aren't you confusing Swedes and Germans?

I tried that advice, disabled v-sync and now I actually feel like I am in control of my mouse pointer. Weird

I've started having a recurring dream that...
"Lucid Dreams" Depending on your personality and strength of will, they can be an aweseome experience. You can model the universe around you, catering to your every whim and fantasy. I've had plenty of nightmares where all I've left is the memory of the memory. I remember remembering the nightware shortly after waking up, but even a few minutes after, the big eraser will have wiped my memory of the images and specifics. Only two nightmares ever left such strong impressions that I remembered them years after. One of them was rather bizarre (aren't they always), I dreamt that I was waking up because all my teeth were falling out of my mouth and landing in a little pile on my pillow. I desperately tried to shovel them back in my mouth, more and more frantically, but they kept seeping through my fingers and fall down in the little pile again. Like the sand grains in an hour glass... Maybe the concept of time scares me, maybe I just need to get an appointment with a dentist some day?
-
Obsidian's another unannounced title?
So, now we are going to need some sand bags to build a shelter with... when the D&D 4th ed. MMO gets announced A WH40k game would be too good... Maybe that Seven Dwarves game?

What are you playing now?
That would make you the right person to tell Volourn that NWN:OC isn't really *that* great? Congratulations Still playing Dead Space. Made my way to somewhere in chapter 3. More impressions: Not sure what to make of it really First off, the game is not scary and the game is not spooky (not by mid chapter 3 anyway). It doesn't do typical spooky like building up tensions gradually or play with your mind, it relies solely on startling the player with simple gimmicks. That means spawning enemies close to the player, just outside the field of vision. Combat is... simplistic? It is made slightly challenging because of the artificially limited vision and awkward controls, but that doesn't really count. On the bright side, I didn't really play the game for the same reasons that I play Red Faction or Unreal Tournament, nor do I play it to ruin a nights sleep with bad dreams. I play it mostly because I've been looking for a game where I can run around on a derelict space ship, discover stuff, figure out whodunnit and anjoy losing myself in a "believable" environment for a while. In that, it does a great job. The "mechanics" and the levels gives you the feeling of actually being on-board a huge derelict ship, the logs and videos gives you clues in a Kotor2/Peragus kind of way to something that is a moderately intriguing back story. I hate the save point system passionately, but otherwise, the interface has a lot of nice touches. I like HUD, that gives you access to info and inventory without taking your eyes off your surroundings, so it never really pulls you out of the game world. Nice touch that one Now, I wonder where one the oldest and most uninspired of video game formulas went... I haven't met a "boss" yet. I fear it might still come, but the game is much better so far for not having it

Relic developing Warhammer 40k action RPG
I haven't had a chance to go through it properly yet (I mostly know the old "Inquisitor" table top rpg). For what it is worth, WH40K has some kickass females. Female Inquisitor Lords, Death Cult assassins, The Adeptus Sororitas (which makes the Astartes Marines seem tame by comparison when it comes to uncompromising hostility), Adeptus Arbites judges and executioners etc.

E3
Disciples II + Archon = Disciples III? Crossing fingers and hoping, but to be honest, I'm a bit sceptical. Having never experienced a 2d game that survived the transition to 3d engines, I'll keep an eye out for it, not get my hopes up too high.

What you did today
Walsingham always had a strained relationship with cats. It goes way back...

Question to the Developers about the save system.
...but why does he hate our freedom? Sorry, couldn't resist Some mechanics are bound to please some and displease others. Having a choice of mechanisms would be nice, but the ROI might not be worth the effort.

What you did today
You sound almost like an old friend of mine, who bought an old Vespa (late seventies model) and put it back in working order

Let's Play Hellgate London!
Aristes the Gadgetmancer I know very little of this game. Will just take a seat and observe. It (usually) never hurts to expand ones horizon.

I could use some help here.
Not at hand (I'm at work) I'll check when I get home tonight. I think I just shortcircuited a pair of pins for a few seconds then let it boot up from a usb stick with the most recent bios version on it (which it was able to do after the "hard reset"). Edit: And switching off power completely while short circuiting it, as in disconnection the mains

I could use some help here.
Maybe he "reset" his bios somehow? From personal experience with ASUS motherboards (something I have suddenly become very apprehensive of ever buying again), the bios doesn't recognise "newer" cpus out of the box and deadlocks after the first boot up. It simply fails to detect a valid cpu. My own fix was to hard reset the bios and boot up from a usb stick with a newer bios. (it would boot up fine the first time, update it's hardware table, marking the cpu as unknown and die at the cpu detection on the second boot) Don't know if it is the issue, but the symptoms sounds familiar

New information, some of everyone's questions answered!
You must be really old, if you predate Prehistorik. It is still true though. I remember when the first games came out with a "save" feature. They were crpgs (well, dungeon crawls actually) and strategy games

Let's Play: Jagged Alliance 2
We might want somebody (Ira?) to do a bit of quick scouting on C:12 and D:12, just to see what hostile activity there is around the Drassen mine. South Chitzena always seems harder than north Chitzena for some reason Edit: Never mind ths scouting, I just realised that our path of retreat is bocked by hostiles in central Drassen
