  1. Start of old thread End of old thread I saw part of transformers on tv a short while ago. I'll probably get shot in a dark alley for saying it, but it was too uninteresting to keep watching it until the end. Last movie seen: Le Notti del Terrore (Burial Ground). From a time and place where Zombie movies were meant to be scary, not action comedies >_
  2. *Note to self: Order Blake 7 from Amazon*
  3. TVtropes, of course! That's the best summary I've seen in a very long time "Commander Chenkov of Valhalla routinely abuses the Imperial Guard's reserves to overwhelm the enemy with endless waves of poorly-trained, disposable conscripts. He's also been known to use his troops to clear minefields for tanks and bog enemy units down so that the artillery can shell them, and once executed a million of his own men to build a dam from their bodies. His regiment, the Tundra Wolves, has been refounded more than a dozen times in recent decades due to casualties, and it's rumored that he's killed more of his own men than he has of the enemy. And of course, since this is the Imperium, he's routinely awarded medals and commendations for quickly defeating the enemy with these brutal tactics. " ...he used to lead my Valhallan army
  4. Ah yes, World Eaters... They will slice and dice their opponents, then grab their entrails and strangle them with it and then suck out their eyeballs when they start to pop. That was before they turned bad
  5. If you are lucky, you might find some of the old rule books in bargain bins in second hand book stores. Rogue Trader and the two Realms of Chaos books are especially worth keeping an eye out for. As Floodland said, The Horus Heresy series of novels. My current favourite is actually an art book The Horus Heresy: Collected Visions, which has a surprising amount of background details and stories. Including how Malcador instigated the creation of the Holy Inquisition as his last act before getting sentenced to the chair.
  6. 25 years of rulebooks and novels?
  7. A few "logical" (in-setting logic) issues with that. You do not chose to become a space marine, you get picked after proving yourself worthy. You do not retire as a space marine, only in death does duty end. For most intents and purposes, space marines might as well have been aliens. IG might be a better choice for something where you want people to relate to characters and their situation. Doesn't mean that you can't feature the marines... or the titan legions or the adeptus mechanicus, or the adeptus sororitas or other armed forces. It just feels like it might be easier to sell the idea of one or more human protagonists. Like Titus Pullo and Lucius Vorenus in Rome
  8. I'll probably end up getting the upgrade retail version for my Vista Ultimate (worst 400$ spent). I considered the OEM version back then, but decided against is, since I wasn't "finished" building my PC at the time.
  9. Colonel Schaefers Last Chancers. Although the "Dirty Dozen" theme is a bit old too. Does it have to be a "War" thing? Plenty of intrigue, corruption, scheming, brutality, exploitation, subversion etc. to take inspiration from. Heck, Blade Runner could have been set in the WH40K universe. I wouldn't mind another dystopian crime/bounty hunter story. Ferret out the threats from deviant cults, corrupt governors, apostates, heretics, mutants, aliens, etc.
  10. If they could at least feature either some beer swilling, bawdy sons of Fenris or some brain eating, blood drinking maniacs from Baal, not the card board marines then
  11. It seems like people are working under the misconception that a WH40K movie/game can only be about the Astartes (Space Marines). Just about everything else in the WH40K universe is more interesting than those.
  12. So, they missed the 3 photons that stopped by last year and probably wont even look at the delayed one that is due next year. They are getting sloppy...

Heh, The Hobbit (adventure game by Melbourne House) came with "The Hobbit" as a manual. Yes, RTFM did apply, otherwise you couldn't really complete the game. At least, I couldn't I do miss the days when manuals were more than just a pdf and a quick keyboard reference sheet. It was part of the feeling that you actually bought "something" when you opened up a new box and browsed through the content

  15. The OC has good stuff and bad stuff. Unfortunately, the good stuff is spread out through the game, making it hard skipping the bad stuff and just enjoy the good stuff Good stuff: The trial, Running the Keep. Bad stuff: Forced companions, grinding, instant/respawning enemies. The rest sort of just falls in between somewhere.
  16. The lowest exodus of tax payers in an eight year period (which peaked in 2005), I don't get it how that is bad? Other than they are still leaving of course, albeit at a lower rate. Rich people always seems to gravitate towards places with either a: lower taxes or b: better revenue opportunities or c: both. It should be up there with Newtons laws
  17. I am not really up to speed on those things. Besides, my latest first aid certification is 15+ years old
  18. Isn't it a criminal offense in a number of countries not helping people to avoid dying if you can? I know for sure that I would love to bash some skulls on gawkers and onlookers at traffic accidents etc. who would rather enjoy a macabre show rather than doing something helpful, like getting the &^%$ out of the way.
  19. Umm... we seem to have blown our SPAM
  20. Backing up important stuff on external drives and store it safely in a different location is always a good idea. Even when your computer isn't crashing and burning
  21. Our own little ray of sunshine Notice how his lack of faith is waivering? Interesting read. So the guy worked on Tomb Raider: Legends, huh? I hope somebody tells him at gun point that QTE's are not popular Nice to get a bit of insight as to what goes on in the design and decision making process. Why do the stuff we end up playing look and feel like it does etc. Developer diaries ftw
  22. Market control and price fixing.
  23. I just thought your poll was biased Indeed, doesn't look too different from the experiments with mammoth dna, trying to revive an extinct species. The moment he can inject completely artificially made dna on the other hand...
