...on the other hand, in the last decade and a half, I've never upgraded RAM or CPU, but tossed it all out and got new MB, CPU and RAM together. Maybe because I keep my PC's for a very long time (past the point obsolescence)?

The system failed the day news became business and revenue became king. Most so called "news" (and bloggers passing themselves off as "journalists") is just sordid entertainment for the uncritical masses.

I don't normally care about "Achievements", but I noticed the Legacy thing keeps track of all kinds of stuff. Unfortunately the "tracker" window seems completely stuff Tacking achievement: -1231.43234.4322.334 0, 0, 1 - Wonkability Etc (not made up it really write stuff that looks like developer comments). I've also got achievements that have 70 out 80 completed, yet each individual component is 100% solved. That's going to be a bit hard getting the remaining 10 points

Feels like a lifetime, doesn't it?

Maybe we need a 40+ club thread, only for "adults"

I finally bit the bullet and tried the "group" thing. If nothing else, just to get rid of it in my quest log (I know, I can abandon quests, but that sorts of cheating). The groupfinder and queue thing *is* sort of handy for players for me who prefer solo playing, but still want to see what the other stuff is about. The Hutball game ended 2-2 and I dished out more deaths than suffered Edit: Tried one of the flashpoints too. Lots of killing stuff and boss fights. I think that's mostly an acquired taste (not really my thing, but interesting to try at least once)

Still playing it on and off. Still having fun. One of my characters ('Gorth' the Bounty Hunter) eventually made his way to Nar Shaddaa. Looks a bit more colourful than the refugee section in Kotor2 Getting to some of the holocrons that require a lot of pixel perfect timing and accuracy is an exercise in frustration (of the completely un-redeeming kind)... *stares accusingly at Coruscant*. Movement controls just aren't that good that it's fun. Starting companions are a mixed bag. The consular droid companion is only a pale shadow of T3 personality wise, whereas keeping torturing and electrocuting Vette (Sith Warrior companion) actually made me cringe, just for the dark side points. Ended up with negative points on the 'affection' scale

Corto Maltese... that brings back memories. I wonder where my old Modesty Blaise collection ended up. On an unrelated note, Le Schtroumpfissime (The Smurf King) should be mandatory school material in all modern "democracies". It's basically Machiavellinism explained for lay people. Never trust your government

It's rather obvious when the global financial crisis struck... Maybe that's what makes him happy. All the new homeless people. Gives you somebody to point fingers at (seems to make some people feel better when other people suffer).

Oh no you didn't... what happened to the BG2 let's play? (you're not supposed to have a life outside work/study before that's finished)

The tutorial was very helpful when I was approaching level 10nish with my first character. Created the 'Gortholemean' legacy already back then. Just to not burn out on a single character/location, I rotate them a bit (not that it's a real issue as I have only limited time at the moment, but I expect that to pick up at the end of next month). Got a level 25 and a level 23 character which gets my attention at the moment. Also discovered the convenience of emailing stuff between my characters. Makes up for the limited crew skills

I suppose an 'Obsidian' guild could be fun (at least for a while), but the difficulties with getting people on the same server, time zones etc. is probably prohibitive.

I tried having a look at some of the servers mentioned. Sadly, the name 'Gorth' seems taken everywhere else besides the local Aussie server I'm on Otherwise, I'm having moderately fun playing the game(s). Adding a few more characters to my roster, checking out some of the other stories. Even accidentally ended up in a group (because I managed to hit accept on an invite while reading the codex). went and killed a bit of stuff. A bit awkward trying to talk while blasting away in combat at the same time. Even scored a few social points, something I would have sworn would never happen. Never mind that I had long forgotten the tutorial bit about how to quit a group again.

Hmm, maybe I shouldn't have tried to answer honestly. Age seems to have a negative impact on stats I Am A: Chaotic Neutral Human Sorcerer (7th Level) Ability Scores: Strength - 12 Dexterity - 10 Constitution - 13 Intelligence - 15 Wisdom - 11 Charisma - 13 Alignment: Chaotic Neutral

I think on some level the content was created (especially in some later levels where speeders are more likely to be had) where the vastness was created simply to create a sense of vastness. You can argue if it's appropriate for game design or not, but a place like Hoth or Tatooine could be argued that it should be rather vast with some emptiness, given the nature of those types of planets. I haven't made it to any of those places yet. My highest level character (smuggler) is currently level 21 and on Taris and my Bounty Hunter level 18 and on Balmorsomething (just arrived). Still plenty of planets to discover and explore I think I have made it my personal "achievement" goal to gain at least one of each of the 6 ship types

Well, different priorities I suppose. I like just exploring. Sometimes bigger is better. That is, if there is something worth exploring. I might feel differently of course, if I get there on my 7th playthrough and the vastness starts grating a bit Had a run of bad crashes yesterday, not sure what happened. Game would just freeze and destabilize Windows (to the point of being unable to shut down without a hard reset). Happened every 20 minutes or so. Tried the check and repair function and left my PC for a while to do some work. Not sure if it did anything, but I managed more than an hour afterwards without any issues. Currently playing 3 characters, switching a bit between them, a Sniper/Agent, Smuggler/Gunslinger and Bounter Hunter/Powertech. Deleted my Sith guy and started over. Too many bad choices (wasted dark side opportunities). The non-jedi stuff just seems more fun.

Mate, Microsoft would cringe if you sold something that worked 99%. You can't charge people annual maintenance fee if all you ever plan to fix in future versions is 1%

You should try 'Solitaire' some day for relaxation

Hasn't Iran been hit by some of the most devastating earthquakes in recent history (last couple of decades)? A combination of little consideration in building construction and sometimes striking remote towns/cities combined with inclement weather. Earthquakes are not on my list of things that I miss from New Zealand. Wouldn't want to live Los Angeles for the same reason (like Wellington, the next big one is not a question of 'if' but of 'when')
-
Not sure if it makes any difference, but I seem to remember from some distant past, people talking about whether or not patch 1.0b was necessary and might affect some parts of the game negatively. It's been too many years to remember exactly though, sorry.

http://games.on.net/2013/03/bioware-to-shut-down-apac-servers-for-swtor-merge-into-na-servers/ Yeah, translation from PR Speak to plain English: Improved Customer Experience = Cost Saving Measures. If they go through with it and latency becomes notable as a result, I'll become an ex-player really fast. Good thing I got a 2 month non-recurring subscription. I never was one for long term commitments

If you liked the new X-Com and were curious about the older X-Coms then you may like this game that's not called X-Com but is more like the old X-Com than the new X-Com when it's released later this year. Or he may be bored immediately. Not liking the new one at all, I ended up being a late backer of Xenonauts splitting my precious spare time between SWTor and my Steam backlog (currently playing through tutorials of Fallen Enchantress).
