  1. Slightly unrelated, but I'm curious to see what Intels plans are for the Xeon E5 series. They talk about a V2 on current technology to be followed by another version built on Haswell technology. So much for my plans for building an actual workstation early next year.
  2. There is a risk of camels turning into a pest in Australia. Just waiting for the great "safari" where you can go hunting for feral camels and hang their stuffed heads over the fireplace. Edit: In Hungary, Ass bites you! Apparently, Donkeys are lethal predators in Hungary.
  3. Maybe Boeing wants to hire her for future airplane designs?
  4. Haven't really thought about this for years... usually it's game soundtracks that keeps popping up Just a few that stick out. Accept - 'Staying Alive' Led Zeppelin - 'II' Led Zeppelin - 'IV' Fleetwood Mac - 'Live' Pink Floyd - 'The Delicate Sound of Thunder' Lord of The Dance Soundtrack - Self Titled? (Mostly for nostalgic reasons because I went and see the show back when they were touring Europe) Queen - 'Live Killers' Queen - 'A kind of Magic' Well, those were the 'albums' I could remember playing a lot over the years. Having a few hundred CD albums, there are probably some runners up and momentarily forgotten ones.
  5. Just to add to the consensus, GIMP is an excellent package if you don't have/want Adobe software. Not an Adobe fan myself, having found PDF alternatives, I'm looking for a way to get rid of Flash for good.
  6. 1) Whatever you can wrestle to the ground and kill with your hands/legs/teeth... 2) Hunting dachshunds would be Ok I suppose, if you turn them into hotdogs. Bring mustard, campfire and sticks to roast the dachshunds on.
  7. Consider it done...
  8. Besides the previous stuff, the rather frequent blackouts in my suburb eventually became one too many (3 times in one week), so I added an UPS to the list. It just happens too often and for hours at a time. While it only provides between 2 and 8 minutes running time, at least it's enough to do a proper shutdown. Scheduled to arrive Monday.
  9. I don't know if I was a late comer (picked it up at full price), but I was definitely one of the majorly disappointed ones. It felt like Pac-Man was a better tactical game. I don't remember my commentary then, but probably amounted to something along the lines of style over substance. Together with Tombraider Anniversary one of the few games I can't be bothered to even try finishing.
  10. "I shall not confront Drowsy Emperor as an enemy, but welcome his cookies as gifts to be cherished." -Gaian acolyte prayer ...do not trust Geeks bearing gifts.
  11. Yeah this is a big problem for TOR. Most MMO's slowly add in new lower level areas, giving players alternate ways to progress. TOR is sort of designed to not allow that. It is too linear. Well, they could start by replacing some of the 'Heroics-X' stuff with story stuff... Also, I feel a bit sad, that out of my nice collection of assault cannons and sniper rifles, there are two characters (possible some later companions) that can use them. Not necessarily asking for more base classes, but a few more advanced classes would be nice. Not sure if I'll get the cat people or not (always thought 'Juhani' (sp?) felt out of place in Kotor). On the other hand, traveling interstate and unable to play for the time being, I just out of curiosity clicked on the 'discuss this' button on the web site. Jeebus, I can understand if the Bioware guys don't bother listening to people anymore. 14+ pages of ranting and self entitlement issues. The abuse and the accusations were grotesque. I think I might buy it just out of spite
  12. Those who have known him for a while wouldn't place bets
  13. Sitting and wondering if it's worth complaining to the hotel reception. Mini bar hasn't been restocked for 2 days On the other hand, I'm checking out tomorrow, probably wont make a difference in time. Ah well, we all have to bring sacrifices.
  14. The "bopping" of your nose by a 1000+ tome falling in your face is a good indicator that you should put it aside and get some sleep
  15. The handling of the Marc Dutroux case in Belgium makes me believe you're right Wals. There was definitely something going on behind the scenes there in the way investigation and prosecution was obstructed at every step of the way. Powerful friends indeed.
  16. Ask for a pay rise depending on ratings? There are definitely people who deserves to have their life spans cut short. I just wouldn't ever trust the legal system to get it right every time. As for the original article, it just goes to show how damaged the human mind can become for whatever reason. His mum never taught him not to play with his food first? (I know, bad joke, but in this case it appears nobody got actually harmed).
  17. Gorth vs. Interface... place your bets No, the interface, after I got familiar with the editor is actually quite nice.
  18. Yeah, I know there is a "cycle" function somewhere, but with 20+ keys to already keep track of when it gets hectic... It would be nice if it was a setting thing. I.e. prioritize that I want closest enemy then distant, amongst closest pick healers over fighters etc. and the target selector would act accordingly. I know, it's just a convenience thing. The same way you can configure HUD profiles per character
  19. My one and only experience with customer support so far was a first class experience. Prompt answer, quick fix (to something which out found out later was my screw up and I cheated Bioware/EA out of a few CC's) Apparently buying inventory unlocks and then "claiming" it wasn't enough. It just gives you a gadget in your inventory that you need to click on. Didn't discover that little item before several days after. So yeah, almost too good support I made up for it by spending lots on the Cartel stuff afterwards, washing away my guilt. Playing "both sides" in the lower level PvP, it seems to me (entirely allegorically of course) that some of the imperial abilities and combos are waaay more efficient than republic ones. The curves might flatten out when maxed out in levels though. Only got mauled really badly in PvP once, but the level difference was a bit absurd (my team being levels 11-23, opponents 16-28). At least we could offer the local Darth an excuse for our failure... or not. Finally got rid of my urge to grind when I discovered that I was consistently "over levelled" now for where I'm at in the story bits. This was actually a bit of relief, telling myself just to focus more on the story quests, but it's the kind of stuff one only works out with a bit of experience with the game. Stop chasing every critter and only kill stuff blocking your way and quest xp will see that you stay sufficiently leveled up. Suggestion to QA/Feature requests: Autotarget needs some work, seriously. I've been paying attention to it now and it always selects the opponent furthest away from you, sometimes even when that guy is 180 degrees behind you. Less important for ranged fighters, but frustrating beyond description for close combat fighters, trying to hammer away at the 5 guys ganging up on you and the game picks the dude 200 meters down the hallway behind you to try and bash
  20. At the risk of sound like a ****... money is rarely ever an issue, time is. So, whatever saves me time (conveniences) gets considered I currently get the 2 months non-recurring things (already added "second season" to that, topping up as I go) and see myself having fun for a long time to come.
  21. I blame f2p for me getting "hooked" in the first place. Also spent cartel coins on expanding inventories/cargo bays and more character slots... and a few gimmicks Edit to add: Interesting. Wish I could queue for specific heroics/areas just like the flashpoints.
  22. Fair. Personally, I believe it comes down to motivation. If you are motivated, setbacks will only be that, setbacks (no such thing as a defeat). If you are not properly motivated, a setback can lead to fracturing and erodes support for the effort. Nobody to my knowledge wins anything of the kind without popular support. E.g. The Vietnam war? VC and North Vietnamese casualties were astronomical, but surrendering was never really considered. The Falklands War? Military juntas are just not good at the popular support thing. Once things started going sideways, war capacity went downwards. Taliban? You can keep catching and disposing of insurgents, but as long as the general idea of a theocracy in the mountain valleys persists, it will drag out and outlast many Kabul governments. Etc. Not sure if that gets my general idea across? Kill peoples desire to support a war and you have a chance of winning it, regardless of odds and resources and numbers and what have you. Oh, and support is not just undermined by brutality, sometimes offering a better deal is more effective. Battles and their outcomes are only a small part of the puzzle. Might sway opinions a bit hither and dither, but are rarely decisive (won't say never, because it does happen).
  23. I believe (pun unintended) that Ork theology is whether you favour Gork or Mork more (i.e. cunning vs. brute strength)? Most Orks pay tribute to both and differences are usually settled with typical Ork pragmatism.
  24. @The Eldar pic Actually, I would rather see Obsidian do such a game some day (a secret, wet dream of mine). It would be just the thing for Chris Avellone to really let go of himself, no holds barred. Every sick and twisted thing he ever wanted to do to a character, every dream he ever wanted to crush, every despair he ever wanted to inflict, every depravity etc. would be fair game and completely natural in such a setting.
  25. I prefer airbags over the strawberry cake though On a motorcycle you have none of the above Nothing much happening. Working, eating, sleeping, playing a bit of games (usually in the middle of the night when I should be sleeping). Need to go shopping for new clothes one of these days. Got nothing left without too many holes in it (from pants over socks to shirts). Need a new office chair and protective floor mat for my computer room too. I really hate shopping.
