  1. Yes. We just all switch to using Star Dates. If that fails, we can try UTC
  2. A bit unrelated, I know, but who currently hosts the auto update files for NWN2 (when running the patcher). Just wondering if say Atari were to fold for good (rather than some kind of reconstruction), would it become a challenge to start hunting for said files? @Zor: When you refer to BG3, are you talking about The Black Hound (which Atari managed to get cancelled when Black Isle was working on it).
  3. If ISI could have done it, I'm sure they would have loved to ship off OBL to Kashmir and stir up the flames there.
  4. Normally I would applaud a movement that seeks secular values, enlightenment, education etc. I just worry that people are flocking to it because it is *a* cause, not because of *the* cause itself.
  5. I'm late as usual (I blame time zones). Welcome

When was the last time the Brits won in one of the sports they invented? 1966? Congratulations to Mr. Murray

*flashing blue lights*... This is an emergency post. Dice Quick, somebody check if this man still has a sanity!
  8. I actually thought Obsidian did a good job of capturing the look of the original Mira voice actress (as in not so much designed her as just made her look like the flesh and blood counterpart). I don't really use planetary commendations much anymore, since my characters, between cybertech and artifice can manufacture most mods up to prototype quality, some up to artifact quality. Challenge is to keep my raw material storage restocked. That's where GTN is handy when you can't be bothered to look up some level 1 or 2 resource. Commendations mostly gets used on "frivolities" like artifact cases etc. Sometimes it's less useful, sometimes you get pleasant surprises. My main guy having custom armour (the "Burner" armour from the big Hutt merchant, it sort of suited a guy whose main weapon is a flame thrower) means I do every now and then buy some mods, but it's not a regular occurrence. Played a number of flashpoints over the weekend and now have my characters waiting around on the space station(s) to claim their rewards when the XP gets back to normal. Edit: Yes, the "Gault" story line was just too contrived and the character not the kind I would tolerate on a ship, especially if I had to leave it with the keys in the ignition every now and then. Only one I found worse is Kaliyo, and you seem to be stuck with her for a *very* long time in the Agent story line Edit2: Just to put a positive counterpoint, not having seen more than a third of the available (if even that) companions, my favourites so far has to be Aric and Elara (both trooper companions)
  9. If the birds are pigeons, then I'm all for more wind turbines. The infestation levels in this neighbourhood is really bad. Simply not enough natural enemies.
  10. Not really Never been there, was just enjoying playing my characters through the story, the planets, collecting companions etc. Flashpoints being great fun most of the time and rarely doing the PVP thing (my least favourite part). When my Warzone commendations ran full, I just swapped it all for an inventory full of little credit cases In short, for me, it's an unwanted inconvenience, end-game not being a goal (I'll probably retire my characters if/when they get there).
  11. What kind of fascists do you work for ?! Welcome to multinational, corporate culture! Edit to add: I wouldn't really presume to compare being a cop with being a mod. Yes, you get to listen to a bit of verbal abuse on very rare occasions, but honestly, most of the time you (i.e. me) get flak for what you post as a community member, nothing else. I do have a number of relatives in the police force, from prison wardens to intelligence service and the stories they tell makes your skin crawl. I don't envy them their jobs or what they sometimes have to "suck it up".
  12. If I started pepper spraying our developers or support teams, I would probably be out of a job pretty soon
  13. Your happiness is completely irrelevant @Spider: For me, it is the first time through. You can't really do much without getting buried under piles of XP and you have no chance of trying to keep your gear up to speed. Seriously, stuff like that needs to be optional, tick a box if you want to take the shortcuts, leave it unticked if wanting to play the game "normally".
  14. Don't tell me, the "Double XP" **** is back again, this time also pestering us outside the weekends! >_ *RaarrrrgghhhH!* (Scream of frustration) That seriously sucks. Noticed in the middle of a space mission that it was suddenly raining XP. Why do they keep punishing us?
  15. I once got pulled over by Danish police and "patted down". I didn't really hold it against the two young men, that they seemed a bit nervous. It was dark night, small road in the middle of nowhere in the country side and they had just been told to go chasing somebody who had done an armed robbery at a small town convenience store, taking some liquor or some such at knife point. Since the most "lethal" weapon in my jacket was an iPaq (this was years before smart phones), they all relaxed and got friendly and we parted ways. But then, I've never lived in places like Copenhagen or other larger urban areas, where the tone in some suburbs may in general be a lot more hostile between citizens and police forces.
  16. Science strikes again to make the internet a better place... The Sarcasm Detector /sarcasm Apparently somebody missed the sarcasm somewhere and got serious about analysing people for when they are using sarcasm.
  17. All fear the Kiwi Cops... http://youtu.be/yivsN18ijjM Actually, they are some of the nicest people around.
  18. I wonder how "modular" the crafting system is going to be in its design. Let's say, I figure out how to make a nice shortsword for guy. I can't find any recipe for adding fire effects, but I found this nice note sheet. So, if I combine the two, would I get a "singing sword" which plays a little jingle instead of burning flames when scoring a critical hit? Yeah, just thinking out loud. Sort of gives away that I'm an old Nethack fan
  19. Just no. They may not have lived to the "ripe old age" by our standards but plenty of Emperors went by what in their day would be natural causes. Slightly exaggerated, yes. Out of 94 emperors, approximately 25 died from natural causes (including plague). A few are questionable, as they may or may not have been poisoned (never proven either way). The rest was either murdered or committed suicide. I still think you would have the odds stacked against you as Roman Emperor. Lifestyle hazard?
  20. It took at least 3 seconds for me to realize, that you weren't talking about rainforests...
  21. ...and? He was the end of the Roman Republic and the beginning of a 400 year tradition, each successive Caesar following in his footsteps
  22. "Tank Commando", that would be Vanguard? The previously mentioned handful of characters that don't get much playtime is mostly there so I have something "meaningful" to do with item drops that my main guys (and my smuggler girl) can't use. I had been playing for number of weeks, before I realised I could email items as attachments (and had been wondering why the galaxy had mailboxes everywhere) Edit: Somewhat unrelated, but one of the first things I invested in was the Legacy unlocks that equips my ships with all the conveniences (GTN, Mailbox etc.) so I don't have to visit the space stations that often. I wonder if there are any plays to also offer mod stations for ships. Whoever designed the space stations apparently thought it funny to place the supply stores and the mod stations in exact opposite ends. Empire and Republic both. Oh, and the Mission Terminal seems bugged, never showing up on the maps, even if set to "tracked". Running around in circles FTW Edit2: The latest introduced bug, that yanks companions out of their crew missions is most frustrating. Done 1 hour and 10 minutes of a 1 hour 15 minute mission? sucks to be you if you forget and mount a speeder. Get shot at, forced to dismount and your bloody companion will happily have wasted the last hour and return to tell you to 'STAND STILL!' (Elara, while jabbing a syringe in my shoulder or whatever).
  23. I don't remember the exact number, but IIRC, the number of Caesars dying from old age in the 400 years after the Republic can be counted on one hand. Survival of the fittest (or most important lobby group) indeed. As for Egypt, sad to say, but I don't think it has much of a future. The population is currently 4 times the size (in my uneducated estimate) of what their infrastructure can sustain. Most of them are going to be without work or a future regardless of whoever currently holds power. No oil, no industry worth mentioning, mediocre agricultural processes... Rather sad when 80 million people rely so much on tourism.
  24. No worries, just looking for advice from experienced players who may understand the numbers and skills a bit better than myself. Amusing anecdote... he started life because I had some bad ass damage dealing cyborg with an oversized assault cannon in mind. As it turned out, he always ended up assigned the healer role in flashpoints, so around level 21-22 I respecced him as healer. Of course it was a disaster at the beginning, but then I had the fortune, us getting stuck in Cademimu and players leaving left and right (we couldn't beat Xander), an "oldie" turned up with a lot of helpful tips, telling the noob tank what he was doing wrong and me, the noob healer, how to most efficiently using some of my special abilities. Replacement players weren't that easy to come by either, as it was still on the old APAC servers before the move. I don't remember his name, but my old character is eternally grateful for the advice (patiently) given. Oh, and after an hour and a half, we finally beat the FP.
  25. Who would alacrity be useful for? Since my dedicated healer Commando is due for equipment upgrade, I was having a look at surge and alacrity, since those healing powers are often needed here and now (as in, immediately) when you get "spikes" in your workload and the tank suddenly drops from max to almost dead.
