Err... how is a level 30 cap going to help you get more out of prestige classes? You know, most prestige classes have just between 5 and 10 levels. And by level 10 of a standard class you are already able to add levels from most prestige classes your class allows. I for one would like it better if instead of rising the level cap, they had added multiclassing as an option. Now that would add to replayability.

How on earth can we make use of all these skills?

The two diplomates = sith lords???

I guess that's why the PC was more interested in people's money than in turning them to the DS in K1... -

If you thought Heal was cheese, wait until you see Master Heal. Now I'm thinking, the devs have said that at some points in the game, you might be playing only with NPCs. This could mean as well that you could be forced to play with a team composed of non-Jedi entirely. It would suck if you found yourself with no one able to use a medkit properly wouldn't it? -
I used to do that all the time in the PnP... it's hard to describe the look on the GM's face when you disarm the 4th npc in a row. " Anyway, I don't think that would work, gameplay-wise or storywise. You see, in the PT, most enemies are droids, so Jedi can blast around happily without having to wrestle with the morals of mass murder. However, in the OT, all the enemies were flesh and bone, and Luke didn't seem to have any problem with slaughtering every one of them. What I mean is, in combat, it wouldn't make sense to simply disarm an enemy, expect him to drop his valuables, and go off running never to come back. Most likely, they would switch to another weapon, or at least go fetch something else to kill the PC with. It would be nice however to have a death animation in which the PC cuts down his foe's weapon and then proceeds to chop their head off...

Boy this gets old. Hades complaining about things he doesn't like, and pretty much all the other users complaining about Hades complaining. OMG... -

I think Hades could really benefit from those [sarcasm] tags. -

Exactly how does your lightsaber help when you need to decipher an alien language? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> You use 3PO fot that. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Thus proving that Jedi are useless except for blasting. Can I have some role-playing in my computer role-playing game, please? " -

Or you can try and find out the 'Sith War' series of comics and find out by yourself. -
Chronicles Of The Old Republic?
213374U replied to Bastilla_Skywalker's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Yeah, well. The storyline and the ideas behind it are pretty good, but some things are just... lame. Exar Kun being way too thuggish for a Sith Lord, for example. But it's a matter of taste anyway. They are an interesting read, if not as good as the 'republic' series. -

Yep. The language/knowledge/craft skills were some of the most useful in the D20, and in KotOR they simply assumed any roll on those automatically succeeded. Anyway, if they have increased the number of skills, it's only logical they will increase the number of skill points you get per level. 3 skill points with 14 INT was just ridiculous. -
Chronicles Of The Old Republic?

It's a nice little addition to get people to know the timeline better. I'm hoping they will make some reference to all that in the game, though. IMO the comics haven't aged too well, I have read them all and they are... old. Except for the 'redemption' series, I think only hardcore EU fans will like the comics. -
Sorry, but that is a problem with the pnp version as well. Don't blame KotOR for that. Jedi classes are overpowered in comparison to any other single class, here, and in the D20. It's supposed to be that way since in SW it's hard for a non-force user to take on a Jedi. Only in the pnp the Jedi can use the Force to solve a lot of situations outside combat too, while in KotOR you are forced to have a relatively weak role-playing character if you want to have a killing machine.

well said =D hades cant find anything uncomplainable and is usually the source of many flame wars and im sure everyone would like him to STFU <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Funny how you attack him, but can never best him with logic and sound arguments. I would say it is you who is starting a flame war. Hades may be misdirecting his efforts, but he usually has a point. As an action/adventure game KotOR is great, but as a RPG, it isn't that good. You cannot role-play after all.

You have to play a monthly fee to play SWG, which sucks big time IMO. And he can bitch as much as he wants for as long as he doesn't go against forum rules... If you don't agree with him, quit reading or counter his arguments.

Watch AotC again. Anyway, the lightsaber being too powerful/not powerful enough issue is more of a bad conversion from the D20 system than anything else. You see, in the D20, vitality points don't actually represent a character's resistance to damage, but their ability to avoid lethal damage. These increase with levels and are replenished at the end of the fight. The true toughness of a character is represented by his wound points. These have the same value as their CON score, and aren't increased with levels. When a character is hit, the damage is substracted from their vitality points. When a character runs out of vp, they have 'run out of luck', and the next attack causes real physical damage. Considering that the average CON score is around 12, you can see that most characters will be killed in one or two shots from a gun, and will hardly survive a lightsaber blow. It's interesting how in the D20, only characters which have access to PC classes have vitality points, meaning commoners, stormtroopers, battle droids, and the sort only have wound points, thus reflecting the 1-hit-kill feel from the movies.

Agreed. However the psychological effects come after using lethal force. Soldiers are trained to use lethal force as a tool, and not a result of emotion, precisely because the emotional component introduces unstability in a potentially volatile situation. The same applies to police officers. Force is not the same as aggression and doesn't need to be the result of unchecked emotions.

I disagree with you there. Using the gun against a rapist wouldn't require you to hold any ill will toward him. It would only require you to realize that he's about to do something terrible. Common sense and logic would dictate that using the gun is the lesser of two evils. However, the issue is not using the gun or not using it. The issue is, is using lethal force against the rapist the only way you can stop him? For a Jedi, there are not many cases in which the only way to protect themselves or others is using the Force in a harmful way. They are trained in other, less offensive, ways of wielding their power.

That's one of the reasons I'm having trouble playing through one more time to set up my TSL game. As a whole, I enjoy KOTOR immensely. But there are parts of the game that I'd rather not play through, but are unavoidable. Ah well, I guess I'll decide when it's closer to release date. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> There's a way around that, at least in the PC. You won't get rid of it completely, but it makes playing through envirosuit/spacesuit parts more tolerable. What you have to do is have any form of Force speed active the moment you use the door that takes you 'outside'. That way, the game still keeps the increased movement speed when wearing the suit, but it won't count as if the power was active, so it won't wear off. You will still be sluggish, but not quite so much.
