IE Veteran's feedback
TheisEjsing replied to Athrogate's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Fampyrs ignore your front wall and go for your squishies in the back. That is annoying as hell, but provides a better combat. I kinda like how stupid enemies (low int) do stupid things, and are easy to predict, where clever enemies, use other tactics. It's not very sophisticated at the moment, but like Gromnir said, it's the first game. I like the concept behind PoE's mechanics much more than the D&D one in the IE games. Come PoE 2, it should easily surpass BG 2 combat. -
No more classes are really needed imo. Sub-classes or dual/multi-classing would a natural step for the system in PoE. And more sitting in bars would be nice. I'm get abit stressed with everybody just standing up all the time. Make dem pixels relax abit. =)

No EXP from killing MOB?
TheisEjsing replied to gamelancer's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Hey OP, it's not to control levels. It's to make resolving problems, quests, tasks, etc.. without violence more attractive. If you get quest xp and kill xp, you get rewarded for killing stuff. Without kill xp a peaceful solution to a quest is not less rewarding. -
O btw the music is good
TheisEjsing replied to Longknife's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
This is more than a great soundtrack. It's the right soundtrack for the game. The friend I gave my 2nd key to, was afraid that the music wouldn't live up to the BG music. He is a very stoic guy, but after playing a few hours he called me on the phone, extremely happy about the music, how it took him to the best of times with BG 2. I agreed with him hang up and played on. Amazing job Justin! -
IE Veteran's feedback
TheisEjsing replied to Athrogate's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
I feel you. Those 140$ really gives you the right to feel butthurt! They should have made the game you wanted right? Facts are that they promised 3 things. Exploration, six man party, and tactical combat. They delivered that.. and then some. I'm an IE veteran aswell mind you, but it's time to put away the rose tinted glasses, and accept that BG 2, as great as it was, was not perfect. Prebuffing, feeling powerful, and kiting without consequence is not tactical, it's the opposite. With prebuffing you don't have to think about what you need to cast for the fight, just cast everything. The argument you use for prebuffing is the reason for no prebuffing. The rest mechanic should be self-explanatory to an IE veteran.- 131 replies

Yes, OP, wizards are weak compared to druids. But then again, so is everything else.Wizards in PoE are far better early than in BG/IWD. But they will not scale as well into later parts of the game, as they did in BG 2, and thank you OE for that. Wizards are good, druids are too strong, and wizards won't be the only late game class. Edit: I can't see how wizards can't be fun thou. They got the biggest selection of "powers" in the game, their skills are way more complex than in the IE games, and the int effect on aoe makes for some very interesting fights. Their obvious limits pr rest changes late, so they can cast more low level spells pr encounter too.

There will be another patch in a few days. It should iron out the worst stuff. Did Obsidian ever claim, that PoE would be bug free because they didn't have a publisher? Might be, I just haven't heard it. The game is pretty smooth, it works fine for me atleast. But if people experience bugs, they shouldn't be attacked, just for mentioning them.

Oh I can understand that people can enjoy PvP. You can't seem to understand, that there's a million things, that the developers has talked about the last two and a half year, where you obviously didn't follow the game closely, that is prioritized above a PvP implementation. Cant EDIT: refer to previous posts.

Raedric impossible?
TheisEjsing replied to Slish's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
If you can't do it, then go do other stuff and come back later. The game isn't level scaled, so there's plenty of encounters you'll have to wait with, when you face them. No worry, you'll get him in time. -
You talk about PvP features in BG. Which it didn't have. BG 2 didn't either. And you start contesting other people's intelligence, when you're so far-fetched in your argument. Just understand that PoE won't have PvP. It's not an important mechanic to waste money on. If you desire PvP go find another game to play. There are plenty of them. Cant EDIT: refer to previous posts.

Raedric impossible?
TheisEjsing replied to Slish's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
Better position, probably. Utilizing Durance is important. Getting Kana would be wise aswell. But you should really be able to do it, as you are on easy. -
Baldur's gate had PvP? You could somewhat cheese PvP into those games, but it had nothing to do with concept, the core gameplay or the idea of the games whatsoever. Cant EDIT: let's keep it about the game and not each other, folks. I want to keep this thread open as a counterbalance to Romance and Kill XP.

Early play
TheisEjsing replied to Madpaddy's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
There is a lot of internet left for you then. =) I don't think you should read so much into it. There has been alot of trolls in here lately, making false claims, and been ranting all over the place without any research into what they're talking about. So I guess some people are a little on edge. None of us want to have the game's reception smeared by lies or butthurt entitled kids. I think we can agree on that. I didn't back at day one, so I don't know. But I have followed the game very closely, and I haven't heard of it, being part of the deal since I joined up (20 days into KS). -
