DOS2 wasn't a AAA game but Larian put full VO there. Also, Pillars doesn't have a narrator (unfortunately) just descrptive filler text which I don't know if it would sound good narrated. In DOS2 worked because the narrator was a character with personality. Now, I feel more confident with the ammount of VO that'll be in the game since I heared Josh commenting about that in the Q&A and I have my hopes up for full VO. @Messier-31, Pillars 1 also had same actors voice multiple characters and it wasn't a fully voiced game. You could clearly listen the same actors trying to color their voices differently each time If the cast is good, even if they take on multiple roles, it works. DOS 2 was proof enough for me. Its cast was great. Pillars' cast was ok. D:OS II had a way larger budget than PoE II has, so that's not a logical comparison.

No voice acting simply won't fly. Even thou everyone here wants it, this isn't a tripple A budget game, and full VO would imo be great, but also very expensive. I was wondering aboutt Josh's words too. Personally, I hope they'd rather voice the narrator than doing all the characters if the budget is limited.

**** BG II mage duels. By far the most tedious part of the game. I don't get how anyone can say it's epic after 1 or 2 fights with the same boring spells and counter spells. I really missed some powerhouse "legendary" npcs from other classes in BG II. Sadly PoE is following suit with the arch mage aspect. I can respect other people liking it, and it has the high fantasy thing going and all. But would it hurt with an insanely strong ranger with a special kind of animal companion, or a crazy powerful chanter with some unique and interesting summons and chants as bigger villains now and then.

Backer Beta First Impressions

First of all. Great stuff. Your labour of love is really felt even in this early version. I'll share my observations so far. Good stuff First and foremost, loading pipe is EPIC! The start screen looks amazing. Love the sunset motive, and the colors. Overall super first impression. Layout options are nice The difficulty variaty and naming is really good. I think most players will find it intuitive. Big heads (obviously) 3620x1527 looks dope! ^_^ Char creating looks crisp, and the character models are so pretty. The icons for the character classes, atrributes, backgrounds, etc are really well done. and cool new backgrounds. Poses are super sweet! I mean, that's so great! The not so good stuff No borderless window full screen. Can't use other monitors without tapping out. (or I have missed something) The recommendation stars are easy to miss for new players I think. A few of the culture descriptions are abit short for me personally. The living land and deadfire descriptions are too different in detail. It might just be me nitpicking, but I'll include it anyways. I'll add more as I go. And again thanks for all the hard work! It's looking really good. -

Personally I'm not gonna do alot of roleplaying in the beta. I'm gonna make some characters and try to break them. I'll start with a hunter subclass, and go from there.

The idea the OP has is pretty cool, but I feel it's already in the game to the extend it needs to be. The formation mechanic already gives you alot of freedom, and melee engagement makes is sorta possible to wall up. I think that if OE makes a shield wall stronger than good positioning with engagement, it will be either too easy, or the encounter designs will have to feature a **** ton of invisible, or teleporting foes that will result in broken keyboards, sleeping on the couch, or worse.
