  1. But his philosophy seems to be that the US should not treat anyone like an enemy. He is saying that the whole friend or foe foreign policy is a problem. Look, I don't agree with his tact, but I see the rationale behind his choices. It isn't any different than the lawyers that defend people on death row. Folks on death row are reprehensible, but they are given every opportunity to appeal and defend themselves, they are treated humanely by the government. As for people who are not on trial, that seems even more reasonable. The US has handled countries like Iran, N. Korea, and Cuba very aggressively over the years. Those countries may deserve it, but that does not mean it is the best course of action.
  2. I'd be more impressed if we actually had an example of a successful socialist system.
  3. Wait, what? Do you mean like if a farmer milks a cow, do I, as a non-farmer, deserve to get a drink from his hard work?
  4. I've looked over his quotes and I'm not seeing anything that says "I hate the US" He clearly has major issues with the way the government is run, particularly foreign policy. But you aren't a fan of our current president and you have been very vocal about that, and no one has accused you of anti-Americanism.
  5. Ramsey is a pretty interesting character. I would never make the choices he does when it comes to defending fairly cretinous people, but there is a solid logic behind it. When you have something terrible and tragic happen, you quickly get a mob of people screaming for justice. That is a natural reaction, but it is dangerous and can spin out of control. Ramsey is basically trying to counter that. Is it radical? Yes, but so is the lynch mob mentality that developed against muslims after 9/11. I'm not in his head, but I do not see his actions as anti-American in any way. First off, he has shown his commitment to the US in his work during the civil rights battles of the 60's. He has obviously become much more radical since then, but his commitment is still towards groups that are being persecuted. Some of those groups deserve persecution, but just like our legal system, someone has to defend even the murderers and rapists. He has taken that on himself, I doubt it's an easy path to take, and he probably only does it because he feels it is the right thing to do for America.
  6. The doctor wants me off it for one week, but it feels good. The swelling is almost gone and I've been stretching and putting about 50% on my weight on it at a time. I'm thinking about buying a bike to help with the rehab. Jogging will probably be a bit tough, and I've been thinking about getting one for awhile now anyways. I think I can get back out on the ice by mid-February, and hopefully get back to playing games by the end of that month. My armpits are killing me though :D
  7. Are you addressing me or the guy who wrote the article? I'm pretty sure he meant the reviewer. I don't get that though. Reviewers aren't paid to be elitists or snobby about games. They are reviewing for the general gaming public, and games like Mass Effect and COD:MW2 are going to get great marks because they appeal to a wide audience. That is also why they sell well.
  8. The creek by our house got pretty high this last week with all the rain. We sandbagged our garage and truckshop, but luckily the house wasn't at risk. I'm fighting a cold, so no drinks for me.
  9. That's not surprising in the least. It's a Bioware game, it will have high production values and will be considered by the general gaming press as the top RPG on the market. It would be more surprising if it was considered a bomb.
  10. I watched about 40 minutes of Jackass 2. While it was funny, I can't really stomach a full movie of it, I'll have to watch it in segments.
  11. Grats Kor. I'll have to remember to post the ultrasound when my wife and I get it done on a few weeks
  12. Speaking of bros, women seem to really have trouble with other women. Sure, they might have a couple female friends, but they probably have twice as many women that they despise.
  13. Wow. How old is that thing? I'm amazed that it still runs, but then again it probably produces 1/10 the heat of modern laptops.
  14. EVE is a fairly unique MMO, so it's hard to compare it to the more traditional ones. It's tough because the endgame is really only for the hardcore, and they probably aren't a huge audience, but they are a vocal one and if treated right, the most loyal to a game. Casual MMO'ers like myself tend to jump around a bit and enjoy different games at different times.
  15. AoC also didn't have much of a mid-game, to be honest. It had a fantastic 1-20 experience that brought everyone in, and then it dropped off terribly.
  16. That is pretty standard for most MMO's when they first come out. I've never really cared, as I usually take at least a year to reach end-game content. By that point there is usually enough new content put in.
  17. It is pretty easy to get into the open beta, so I'm guessing the vast majority of lifetime subscribers will have already tried it out that way. I actually regret not buying the lifetime sub. for LotR Online. I would be in the black at this point. But I also don't mind paying a few bucks a month for a great service, so there ya go. It looks like an interesting game, bit different than the typical MMO with the ship design and all that. I might go fr a trial someday, but I'm not a huge ST fan, so I'm not dying to play it.
  18. I think it's awesome to see folks like alanschu and Nightshape get jobs in the industry. I would hate to see them driven away from the forums because of that.
  19. Wasn't that innkeeper cook guy a dwarf in JE?
  20. Not very often, but I only buy albums from a few artists I really like. Plus I pay $5 a month to have unlimited music on Napster.
  21. In my observation, unpopular stuff mostly sucks as well, as it is unpopular for good reason.
  22. I knew you would go after episode one Gorgon It's funny that you put entire IP's as your first two pukefests, TMNT and Crocodile Dundee, but then you only go after one movie for the Star Wars universe. Did you know there is an entire generation that grew up with Episode 1 being their first introduction to the Star Wars universe? Are they somehow inferior because they grew up at a different time? What, exactly, are you the best in? You've taken it as some personal quest to poop on everything popular. Is there some sort of benefit to that snobbery that I'm missing out on? Please let me know.
  23. I believe the war against DRM was called off because no one cares.
  24. Sounds like something somebody says when they're trying to get pregnant. I hope I'm not the only one who held my wife upside down when trying to get pregnant.
  25. Like 80% of everything I have ever done has been to impress a woman, so I'm pretty sure they've got the upper hand.
