  1. Wait... it's a web series of 10 min. episodes... that detail eluded me...
  2. Not sure I follow. The Cainarsky rpg is with Private Division, and you're right that PD will own the IP rights. I don't see how that implies Obsidian will hold the trademark on that game. This could be for something else. Are you just guessing? Now I don't know exactly how trademark issuance works, but patents can be issued to an individual then bequeathed to another party. So perhaps this is a way of Obsidian and Private Division insuring that only together can this IP be worked on. What he meant was that Private Division's partner companies will own the IPs, hence Obsidian (as the partner company) will own the IP on Project Indiana. Private Division holds publishing rights for the 1st game and sequels. The specific details on the sequel rights haven't been released, but it should just mean that Obsidian can't take the IP and go ask EA to publish the game if Private Division wants to publish it. If PD passes on it, then Obsidian should be able to do what they please with the potential sequels. Ah, I didn't realize that was the arrangement. Thanks for clarifying! Yeah, so then as Labadal was saying.
  3. It is an origins story, and the time frame and context makes sense. Maybe the first season will feel a bit derivative, but hopefully it will develop into it's own. It might even help ratings if it attracts a generation that may be less familiar with Raiders. I'm just hoping it's good, I need a new sci-fi.
  4. Bad accents, and millennials acting as millennials. The filming, set work, and score seems fine. Not sure why it went all paris fashion week at the end... I'm still curious towards it, more so than I am for STD, which I haven't bothered even trying out.

  6. I'm not really concerned because when we all go in the voting booth there are no Russians in there with us. Yeah maybe they are spreading disinformation. But considering who are last three Presidents were and the four nominees who didn't get elected I'd say it was all just a choice of bad options. Not one of them would have been better than any other. And some maybe a good deal worse. So because of the Russians unflattering things end up in the news? OK, I figure most Americans aren't watching anyway. You know the problem with all those ugly e-mails and other info released to wikileaks? If the principles in the DNC and Hillary Clinton's campaign had conducted their business in a professional manner, like people do at their jobs every single day, there would not have been much to release. I'd hazard a guess and say no one with any sense voted for either Clinton or Trump. They voted against the alternative. And until people figure out there are more than two options that voting is not the answer the race to the bottom will continue. Bottom was achieved quite awhile back. We're currently digging deeper and deeper into the darkness. To what end I'm not yet sure, but it's not looking good. There is no bottom to the pits of hell. It's why you never stop climbing, even when it's a red queens race.

  8. Other than impressive particle effects and pbr. The game has had serious performance issues dating way back into development. It's largely the engine which I believe they have abandoned and basically just coupled the whole project to FFXV. So after this game they'll never use it again. I do know the lead engine architect left at some point, so they were left without the knowhow to maintain it. Now Square uses UE4.
  9. The tone is not Star Wars at all. Woody Harrelson looks out of place. I have a feeling Donald Glover is not going to act Lando, but instead play his own character which will be passed off as what Lando was like when he was young. It's probably mostly the makeup work, but the casting for Han looks better than what photos of the actor seemed to convey.
  10. The book looks to be part of a larger series whose proper title is The Epherian Chronicles (book 2), I'd say it's a coincidence in naming. I wouldn't imagine the author having a trademark on that title, but even if he did, the same trademark can be owned as long as it's distinguishes something that exists in a different domain. You could have a fantasy series called Dawn which would be different than the dish soap. Note that the trademark is for "Printed books in the field of computer and video games," I believe that is sufficiently a different domain. Nice find, I would not be surprised that this surfaces as the Cainarsky project. It could be the Tyranny teams new thing, but I'm more inclined to think most of those people are moving onto the AAA title to push to completion. I wonder if we could find any other filings on Take-Two's end, potential under their new "Private Division" publishing label.
  11. Guess it will largely be a surprise. I like acquainting with the music in the moment, I think that's often why it's so special. I'm really looking forward to the score though, PoE1 was already fantastic.
  12. Only if you turn on the particle fade settings. Otherwise it's raving in eora.
  13. Isn't that the reason for a spokesperson? Anyways, she looks like Cameron Diaz.
  14. Ship battles look cool, but also really need to be fleshed out a bit more. Especially wind mechanics and better conveyance of positioning. They have something really magical on their hands, they just have to drive it home. I'm glad they are still working on it.
  15. Yes but in this case you lose a "possibility" with fighter. it's a lack of equity between classes. Same thing for Half-sword and Tenacious (Berserker and others). Obsidian does not seem to want to fix it. It's a choice, but during that time, the devoted him can stack. (Half sword penetration bonus + Devoted penetration bonus) Rules of stacking must be simple. This stacking rule punishes associations. Association which is THE new thing of the pillars 2, namely multiclassing. Ya, Pillars have clarity and elegance problem. Pillars 1 had system interaction problems that were ill-conveyed too, one of the weaker aspects of the game. Perhaps the most. I really liked the way it deviated from dnd rules, and often you could create creative viable builds. But that didn't mean you weren't shooting yourself in the foot. As a player I'm fine with still being given a footgun, as long as it's labeled with neons signs that a level screen just put one in my hand.
  16. Just watched The Men Who Stare At Goats. I had heard it wasn't a great movie, and I'm inclined to agree. The whole thing just seems mis-told. For some reason Netflix was giving me a 97% affinity towards it... At least it was short.
  17. Yeah, they really should differentiate. Totally different domains.
  18. If the Big Mac had really good cinematography, then you might expect it to get nominated for that particular aspect. It should be all about the craft and innovation, of course the tides of politics sway bias from year to year. Overall I do feel it's mostly worthy contenders that get in. Animation is a bit of a questionable category because there just aren't enough animation studios of the same caliber as Pixar. More and more turn up every year, but they tend to only make shorts, and their exposure is highly limited. Honestly exposure is the real great boundary on the Oscar's, and exposure requires massive marketing budgets and established theater contracts. Otherwise it's mostly about the craft. Grammy's are clearly an arm of the machine. In fact I think the medium of music is inherently ill-suited for the same sort of accolade model.
