  1. Only 134 PC games have ever been made so...
  2. Equivalent on what metric? Salon is equally schizophrenic in it's world view. Huffpo has equally low quality publications.
  3. Invented? Nay. Global multinationals had already started moving and shaking the world. Personally I think the distinction between style and genre can be a trivial one. As I was talking about a specific subset of Cyberpunk as being done up like a noir, implicit in that is me treating it as a style. But I'd be happy to reverse it and say it's a genre noir done in a cyberpunk style. I'm nonplussed over the difference between the two framings. Imo, what has become cyberpunk is far more informed by the arbitrating over our society by technology than merely globalists end games, or bleak cynicism. Often it's more a microcosm of human persistence through pessimism. Cyberpunk was not smelted by the blow of a single authors pen but amalgamated off of the musings of countless futurists and engineers. I find attempts to exalt a single author as an artifact of people's need to narrate a more compelling history of something, that can stand equal among other solo leaps forward.
  4. Really looking forward to that. Probably more so than the other upcoming marvel films. I think I'm a fan of things that aren't on the global/galactic scale yet. I also think Ant-man is one of the few marvel films where the overall tone fits the humor. Iron Man 1 is another. But they've been straying a bit over time.
  5. Great trailer, but that's not uncommon for "launch trailers." Looking back on it, half of the trailer is just the music too. Was one of my favorites at the time, but today it just doesn't hold the same affect over me.
  6. Cyperpunk is often the modern analogue to Noir, at least Blade Runner and other early genre work like Gibson. I've long hopped for a Cyberpunk isometric (not counting the Shadow Run games, because those are tactical, not infinity-like/pnp-derivative.) But with this new wave of Cyberpunk games I think a classic noir might just be the thing to stand out with. I've also long wanted a proper Sci-fi done in the infinity style, but somehow I feel that'd be hard to pull off unless it was based on Dune. Which actually, yes please.
  7. I agree. Which is why I mentioned that with EA, Microsoft has the option for a hostile takeover.
  8. He shows little effort to sort through minutia, so whether what he spurts out is derivative of something that is true. He unmistakably globs on his own spin, rife with omission and simplification. Trump long ago should have learned the art of self corroboration. Sadly, he has not.
  9. This is sort of a red herring. Because in Antarctic winters, it's too dry to snow. But during it's summers is when it amasses all it's new ice mass. With increasing global temperatures it's expected that Anarctica enjoys of period of increasing mass. The problem is that continued warming will lead to milder winters, and will revert back to a period of even worse calving. Another issues is that much of the mass is added to the core of the Antarctic, where as it's ice sheets continue to recess. The decrease in surface area lowers the amount of solar radiation reflected back into space, and it's the surface area at the edges (i.e. the ice sheets) that reflect the most light away from the planet.
  10. I read about the Microsoft thing as well. I think they could only afford to buy one. EA could at least be a hostile takeover. Valve would have to be a private sale. EA seems like the better acquisition to bolster the Xbox 1st studios. Valve would be better to reclaim their PC side of the business. It's clear why they are interested in both. I'd rather them buy EA and leave Valve. But Valve hasn't done much for me since Portal 2... so there is that issue.
  11. Tom Hanks to Play Mr. Rogers In Biopic ‘You Are My Friend’ This has the potential of being one of the best roles cast of all time.
  12. Every sword can be a talking sword if you do a voice for it.
  13. I guess it depends on how Deadfire ends/performs, but assuming it doesn't close off the watchers story and performs well enough. Then I think they should do a third and final Pillars game, crowd-funding and all. Feargus has alluded to that being the intent, so I hope that route remains fruitful for them. I think it's about time an infinity-like receives a third entry. Hopefully a third would be helmed by Sawyer, after which he could then move onto his historic IP. After the Pillars trilogy is over, another team can explore the world of Eora in perhaps a fully 3D rpg.
  14. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z-AFlHsXc3w Forever this.
  15. That's literally what I did. I bought the game and the season pass. So I don't know what you are missing. K. I just didn't know it was a thing because I backed with digital deluxe + expansions as an add on. Didn't know there was a season pass for dlc.
  16. Obsidian needs to do more of a season pass thing, so you buy into all the DLC/Expansion content. I see that that is already happening more or less with the Obsidian edition. But as a separate purchase it should just all be bundled. I'm sure some people would rather pick and choose, but amortizing out the cost is a better way to justify making additional content.
  17. Nearly 100 killed in ambulance blast in Afghan capital Kabul
  18. April is later than I initially was expecting. I was thinking it'd be middle of March. Also realize that: a.) All the engine work / Production pipelining got resolved on Pillars 1. b.) Design docs, lore etc. are carrying over. c.) Deadfire had about a year and 4 months of work put into it before the Fig kickstarter. d.) Aside from Obsidian's own contributions, it raised a comparable amount in crowd funding. e.) They always placed the release in Q1 2018.
  19. Even the Wii game was more of a PS2 port in some regards. I've said it before, MHW is the game everyone has been wanting them to make for over a decade.
  20. There is high fantasy, low fantasy, then stuff in the middle. Generally I like fantasy to extend the real world, not replace it.
