  1. :D <3 I was kinda worried, nobody would like that one. Because...you know, orlans being fluffy. Is that 3d? Kinda reminds me of P:T. yeah - I use a 3D program then postwork with some filters and touch-ups. Wish I could paint properly but I get by. I encourage you to post more of your work - they're ace (and we do need some more portraits for aumaua/orlan/godlike types ) Edit: For ingame portraits - the dimensions are 210x330 for large and 76x96 for small - the game will resize larger portraits to fit but the compression apparently blurs it slightly so best to resize it yourself in whatever software you use (PS/Gimp/etc)
  2. Exactly my point, but wrong conclusion - we're arguing that you'll be able to do it anyway so there doesn't need to be a waste of dev-time and bug-checking to put one into the game - console and character-editor can satisfy both camps' needs
  3. Great portraits This reminds me, I should get back to work on a few of my own, now that I have the new PC
  4. Great portraits - love the aumaua one especially (though they're all good). Best I can do is my current avatar, which I'll be using for my 1st playthrough as a druid)
  5. ^I believe they said that the additional digital downloads are 'game only' (so equating to Hero edition)
  6. I'll be avoiding the forums for a month (nothing personal guys ) There's always the chance that someone'll post a terribly spoilery thread-title like "I can't believe the Orlan turned into a dragon at the end!" and it'll be the top post of a spoilers allowed forum and it'll show up on the main forum menu page... ... ... so yep, paranoia and cynicism will keep me safe
  7. I will post those mappings when I get back into the office this morning. I'm curious about this aswell. I popped in for a "Digital Download of Pillars of Eternity" at $35, december of 2013. What tier is that? "Just the Game" or "Digital Pack"? You post "Just the Game" at $20 and "Digital Pack" at $35. I would assume mine is the "Digital Pack"? Is it? In other words same question as the user you replied to, with the same "What does this include?" as him. "Digital Downloadable Copy of Projection Eternity, DRM free for Windows, Mac or Linux.". What are those mappings? EDIT: I've come to realise, I think, that the $20-$35 disparity is from kickstarter->"slacker backing" on the website. I guess I'll reword the question into the exact same thing as the other user: Will I receive a steam key or no? The backer portal 'slacker-backer' $35 option was a 'just the game' version (same as $29 eariler paypal slacker-backer and $25 KS backer)- with it we get the 'Hero Edition' on steam/gog (ncluding the pre-order bonuses (not the KS bonuses) - code to be claimed soon (waiting on announcement probably Monday/Tuesday-ish)
  8. No - the backer beta is a separate product on steam - you'll need to claim a full-game key (choosing steam/gog as you like) when the keys are released ('soon') and then redeem it on Steam/gog.
  9. there'll be an announcement soon - you'll get your code through the backer portal ( http://eternity.obsidian.net -> My account) when it's ready.
  10. ^computer crash is not the same as 'ambushed by enemies' (and I sincerely hope there's an ambush somewhere)
  11. I agree - autosave before new area, not after. The autosave saves me most in the event of an unscheduled crash - which is usually loading an area (referring here to experience with other crpgs, I don't have the beta). I'd also second the suggestion of autosaves before big battles / critical events - but then at least it's my own fault if I screw those up Save often, yes - but it's the one time I forget that s**t happens Naming saves - why not? That's like a no-brainer - I may have more than one character going at the same time and want an easy way to spot "Donald 1 / 2 / 3" vs. "Mickey 1 / 2 / 3"* *names not representative of actual in-game characters I may play. Any likeness to actual cartoon characters, living or dead, under trademark, is purely coincidental.
  12. Nah - that's dual-classing (They don't lose their previous skills (so it's kinda like 3rd edition not 2nd) and they don't get to add their previous experience to the new job - they start at level 1) No harm to me - use the console - why waste time and effort creating and debugging a potentially buggy new feature to fix a potentially buggy build, when the solution is already there? (as it is also the solution to other in-game bugs - not all, sure, some bugs will need a patch and even the consolable ( ) ones should get one - and that's where Obs need to spend their time - fixing bugs, not providing workarounds that we can already do with the console)
  13. indeed - but since most of the same arguments are being repeated here, I figured I'd add that back in too. (and I never mentioned changing race, background, culture (or even class) - only that the console already allows people to 'fix' a 'broken' character). It's a fair point that in-game respec would be easier to use, but I don't see the need - (especially when internet provides a way to instruct anybody on how to use the console) You are entitled to your opinion of course. Mine is that it's a waste of resources, and even if Obs say it'd be easy to add in (and add in the time spent bug-checking), I still think a respeccing side-quest is a monumental waste of resources that would be better spent elsewhere. Edit: Arguments that we need respec because the game will be bugged ignore the necessity of other features to fix game bugs - console is already there. "We need a 'set variable' UI because the game will be bugged", "We need a 'kill mistakenly-unkillable NPC' UI" etc are also arguments from this. Obs should focus on fixing bugs - not adding a potentially buggy interface to fix a potential bug.
  14. We have the console - that'll fix a bunch of overlooked problems (hopefully) including the 'bad build' one. There's already a character editor for the beta - won't be long before there's one for the full game. Obsidian doesn't need to waste resources adding one into game (especially the 'respec side-quest' option, which resources would be better served adding a good side-quest to the expansion that we can all enjoy).
  15. ^We just can't detect him - he's got the announcement in stealth mode
  16. ^Custom party formations were in TOEE and are also in POE Edit: But, as said above - that's for combat - in dialogue, your PC does the talking.
  17. I'd rather be able to level them up myself too - makes replays with the same characters more interesting (and we've only got 8 - it's not like we can swap out our wizard for another companion-wizard - yes, we've got the AH to make our own, but I like the personality, interjecting type)
  18. We haven't talked about an exact cutoff, but for digital goods we could theoretically sell them to backers forever. I will have to ask Darren about it. Sounds like a good idea to me
  19. ^3m radius - so not the whole map, just the bodies in a pile around you. I recall that in BG2, if I were in the inventory window and my character was stood on top of 2 corpses, I'd be able to loot both from the ground tab - so this isn't actually that big of a deal to me. It just widens it from 'corpses are on top of each other' to 'corpses fell near each other'. I personally think it wasn't an important thing to implement, but thinking about it, it's not something that'll detract from my gaming experience (if the loot area were wider, it'd bother me)
  20. yes - this is the official update thread (#91) but it repeats some of the 'sneak peek' threads - there'll be another documentary sneak-peek of the next seven minutes in a week or two.
  21. What do you mean? There's a video showing (very early) gameplay
  22. Edit: Double=posted To answer your Q: You could stick to resting in the nighttime if you wanted to - and only explore in the day (unless there's a quest that requires night or an auto fast-forward to night for a scene). But why would you? (Unless you're role-playing a character who's afraid of the dark)
  23. ^because you're very very sneaky? For role-play? To soak up the atmosphere of a nice moonlight stroll? Just because?
  24. ^Solution: Toll bridge towards every side-quest (calculated at 90% of the gold from your last side-quest )
