  1. One big flaw in HW1 was that the launch window didn't have any options other than launching everything or click launching. So if you had 50 fighers and 30 bombers and your MS was under attack by swarmers you would have to click 50 times to launch your figthers and not your bombers to avoid your bombers suffering heavy casualties. The same goes for corvettes. Surely there must be some way to the launch window to at least remember your hotgroups. They have the HW2 code don't they. It's fixed in HW2. Regarding the adaptive AI it does seem to get easier when your are getting weaker, but it doesn't seem radically different from how I remember it. I can't say for sure whether I think they ruined it. I think your resources determine enemy reinforcements, so if you run out the enemy isn't getting anything extra.
  2. seems like something they intended but didn't complete.
  3. By the way, do you get the soundtrack or do you have to hack it out of the data files like last time.
  4. It doesn't say 'autogathered' anymore but you still get the RUs. I don't know about the adaptive AI. So far I haven't seen that in game but that might be because I was pretty evenly matched to begin with. But yeah, that pretty much ruined HW2 singleplayer once you had a large fleet or a lot of RUs. And it's not AI at all, it's just adaptive cheating. Whoever she is in the reboot she does a mean 'enemy captial ships detected'. Why redo the voice acting though if there are no new lines. Simply a matter of fidelity ?
  5. Game appears to be broken on mission 3. After destroying the turranic carrier the mission fails instead of completes. Might be a bug orginal to the game, I seem to remember something like that. EDIT ; apparently a dodgy script. Reloading a few times to just before the carrier is destroyed solved it for me.
  6. HW remastered singleplayer. Looks good so far, although I am a bit puzzled by the low sys rq. Maybe it's not practical/possible with the engine to give it all the dx11 eyecandy improvements it deserves. Haven't seen a large battle yet and that's the important part after all; consistent framerate in large battles. They could have taken care of the screentearing in the story animated screens at least.
  7. Skyrim was a steam exclusive, Steam workshop works, kinda, good for people who don't want to get too technical. Just one click on 'subscribe' and the mod is added to your load order. As far as organising your mods if you have more than a couple you will want a seperate program to make sure you copy and overwrite files in the correct order so they can be removed again.
  8. Well that, and it surfaced that the hero of the story was actually a bit of a scumbag. Twitter comments and things he wrote in the book. It's understandable that there was a strong reaction in the arab world. Also the movie showed him shooting women and children in two scenes where he was pretty much vindicated Jack Bauer style. "I don't want to, but I'll have to saw off your arms to save the world and CTU'. You get the picture. It would have been smarter to have left that one to interpretation.
  9. If we invested 150 mil $ in say, accident prevention and infrastructure we would save more lives guaranteed. High profile incidents like this sometimes lead to impulsive decisions. The less emotion surrounding legislation like this the better off we are going to be. This was just one nutjob. You don't legislate on the basis of one nutjob. I mean we are not talking Anders Breivik here. Two people got shot.
  10. There is already a thread about the ultima reboot. You can post there to prevent dereailment. http://forums.obsidian.net/topic/70268-sequel-to-ultima-underworld-out-on-kickstarter-now/+
  11. If it's just a practical consideration for the load on the backup system you could install on an external HD and create a seperate steam library there. The saves go in the windows document folder by default. You can copy them if you want to use them elsewhere. No way of installing without putting stuff on the C drive and the windows registry so it can't be 'invisible' for anyone who cares to check.
  12. I wouldn't know how hot my GFX is, it's not something I keep track of. If firefox somehow sets my GPU to 100% comperable to when it's idling in the bios, that would be bad. It's pretty noticable.
  13. After a while the stomach contracts and you stop feeling very hungry, that's how people can stand going on fast. It's not going to kill you. It doesn't 'cleanse' your system from 'accumulated toxins' though. Complete hippie nonsense.
  14. Depends on the diet now doesn't it.If you don't eat enough calories to gain weight you will not become obese.

  16. It is a bit weird seeing cops with submachineguns everywhere. I suspect it's more a PR thing, showing the flag and whatnot, than a practical consideration.
  17. Had a longer day than expected at work. There was word of a terrorist attack two blocks from where we're located and we wanted to, you know, not get shot on the way home. Took off once I saw an update that the shooters had escaped in a car. http://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-31472423
  18. More or less verbatim from a danish editorial : If Putin isn't going to crack under sanctions and a new guy isn't going to overthrow him then the sanctions will have been worse than a waste of time. Putin is not scared of sanctions, protecting Russia's interests, which is how he views Ukraine, is a higher calling.
  19. I had tinitus untill I fell asleep drunk up against a speaker (at least that's what I thought happened, legendary bender for a young Gorgon) I woke up deaf, well hearing impared, not enough to bother with hearing aids, in my right ear and free of tinitus. I don't recommend anyone emulate this approach.

Interstellar marines is free til 15/2. I think I might bite and try it out.
  21. You mean to say that's the same little guy floating from left to right every day and if you try to focus on him he dissapears. I thought it was just dirt or specs of whatever on the outside of your eyeball magnified, not a permanent kinda thing.
  22. The cappo de tutti cappo of where I work toured our deparment today, went into the kichen and when he came back the fridge magnets were arranged into a ****andballs, which everyone swears they weren't before. As you can imagine few other things seem worthy of discussion.
  23. I think Stewart looked a bit tired the last couple of months, like he had already made his retirement money and would rather do something else. The show has had some incredible high points though. The fact that the show could out compete the regular news media in credibility should tell you something about how bad things really are.
  24. Why? It's better than Skyrim.m Probably, but it's an MMO. If you are looking for a single player experience. MMO design usually has a detrimental effect onn that.
