they were singled out simply because of who they were. they weren't even part of the fight.

What better way to cement the total power of the regime than by picking on outsiders. Jews, homosexuals, perceived dissidents. They served as a sinister reminder of what would happen if you didn't march in step with the official agenda, and at the same time the brutality wasn't felt by the general population, thus minimizing the chances of insurrection.
In case of the Nazis this merged with their racist ideology. In fascist Italy the racist element was nowhere near as strong.
It's a scene for scene remake of REC. I question the need to make exactly the same movie with American actors. It looks like they even shot it in the same apartment building.
I'm really tired of the hand held gimmick, although I admit it works better for this kind of movie than in most other cases.
Aha, so this was why Sawyer as posting so frequently in the Fallout 3 thread and playing the game through on both PC and Xbox.
Basically, I agree but the setting is in Nevada. How do you manage to express a vast and waste desert in a game without boring the players, then?
You know what would be cool, replacing the mounts, which are still in the engine, with a beat up motorcycle or something like that. You could have a travel map in between larger areas a la Fallout 2 and 3.
The bugs that caused certain computers to lock or crash have been fixed, although the slowdowns associated with calculating a trade route remain. It can get quite extreme if you are one of the major trade factions and have a lot of routes and a lot of trade partners. You get as much as a 4-5 second delay every time you click on one of your ports or on your capital. As stated above the enemy can't land troops with ships, so any area isolated by water doesn't need to be guarded.
Playing as a mostly land based faction eliminates the trade route problem though, no slowdowns with Russia, the us, the ottomans, or the Maratha for instance.
My favorite is Empire total war 2 with the crusades or teutonic adons. The theaters are much smaller which means the campaign map contains lots more bottlenecks and strategic areas. Also you can play a game and finish it in one sitting without getting bored managing 50 provinces.
Well yes, we, the 'civilized' ,whatever that means, don't use torture as a means of repression. I was just making an interjection that we should not tolerate it's use in the name of national security either.
You can also go further up, say /. If you have patience and no one else answers, I can offer you a screenshot tomorrow.
I press the '/' button, or type it into a command line..There are up and down arrows but they don't lead anywhere that shows the drives like the system dropdown menu. Maybe it's just that one application.
i would doubt that. during the inquisition, yes, but not so much now. there are obviously some who think that such methods work - right or wrong, plus some that are simply sadistic (particularly the ones that do "real torture" as the US defines it).

I dunno, I think those people in government who sanction torture, whether we are talking torture light, or torture decaff, should undergo two week course on the receiving end. McCain at least was consistent in saying torture is torture and governments shouldn't do it, he didn't have any trouble with the definitions either.
I missed my one liner, you bastard. It's funny how Fox thinks they are being controversial, and in reality Jack Bauer has turned into caricature of himself. I still remember when that show was good.
The threat of torture and being 'disappeared' is probably very effective in ensuring cooperation.
Actually pealing off nails and electrocuting genitals, I don't believe that gets you anywhere other than getting the subject to admit to whatever you want, being a witch, communist, al qaeda cell leader, part of the martian invasion recon force.
One thing that has befuddled me is how the mini navigator you get when you open a file from within an application, for instance VLC player, you can't locate the physical drives, all you get is the file system where you can open a 'my documents' type folder.
It's all in the battery. It needs to be able to run a set of popper headphones. Those earplug things suck big time. Not only do they hurt my hears if I use them too long because of the way they fit. You aren't supposed to stick anything into your ears as it will interfere with the natural ear gunk balance and make your ears clog up.
I'm seasonably fat. I gain about 10 kilograms in the winter and lose it again in the summer.
right now I'm 96 kg, which would be around my normal non lardass weigh, I'm taller than most trees though.
This time what i was trying to install was the danish language version of open office on ubuntu. I got this : OOo_3.0.1_LinuxIntel_install_da_deb.tar.gz
It's an archive, unzipping it presents you with a bunch of folders. I don't know what to do with those.
