Venezuela off the rails
So I take it you exclude democracies from the category of statism seeing as how the people can reject their leaders and their policies. The definition itself appears to me to be soaked in ideology. What tax rate and redistribution level constitutes slavery ? Also calling Capitalism a political system is a secondary meaning, the first is always the Capitalist market system, this often leads to further confusion when people forget to mention the difference.

Venezuela off the rails
I think what is meant by the comparison is that they called themselves national socialists, and instigated a wide range of public building programmes to get people in jobs. That's the classical Keynesian theory, before there was any such thing of course, and with the understanding that it was mostly a ruse to prepare the country for conquest.

Could just as easily be Mon Ami, as long as concord is maintained.

If Ridley Scott is on board as rumor suggests why on earth doesn't he just make a new script and film that, or why not the Alien 3 script that was discarded in favor of the lackluster prison colony story. That would be about a million times more interesting than watching a makeover of something I have seen several times already.

Prop 8
I'm happy to have this option. The fact is, we'd just end up with two different ceremonies. One would be civil and the other would be religious. It's not really the business of government to reform the homophobic philosophies of many religious organizations. What is important is that the union between two people is equal under the law regardless of sex. There are churches out there who will join a gay couple and call it marriage, the heterocentric (is that a word) churches do not retain exclusive copyright on the word, and people who are offended by it basically just need to get over themselves.

About time... Ehh. why can't they try and think of something new instead of regurgitating a perfectly good movie with no other reason than CGI improvements.

Dollhouse
Playing a robot for so long ought to prepare her for the acting skill, or lack of same, required. Honestly there are only 2 or 3 people who aren't continuously bad. The black handler, the owner/operator, and whatshisface from firefly. The rest make do mostly by being young and beautiful.

Venezuela off the rails
No it has democracy as its foundation. The socialist elements are mutually agreed upon and can vary according to governments as well as how well the economy is doing, and can be rejected by the people entirely. They won't because those expectations are heavily ingrained in our culture, but the point is they could. Democracy is in the constitution, socialism in culture.

Bale needs a couple of flops to get some humility back, it will do him a world of good. This will be #1.

Yeah having a moral to the story is a much better idea. If your character was good before he killed a child he might get nightmares and eventually decide to eat a bullet, that kind of thing.

What are you playing now?
I also gave up on Crysis some time after entering the space ship. Some good moments up until that. I think stealth would have worked better without the invisibility mode, you would just use that to the exclusion of anything else anyway. Even half a second would make the AI stop what it was doing.

You win, apparently. Regardless, he got his appointment through the usual political infighting and maneuvering taking place everywhere.

Because of his election results.

Watched Heat again, I've got it on DVD. There are enough crappy sequels out there, why couldn't we have one of this. I watched another recent Pacino-Di Niro movie where one of them was a vigilante cop, forget the name, they are getting a little over the hill as far as action roles, but at least they can still act, which is getting rare in movies where things go bang.

Not everyone is a pederast you know, to the vast majority of humanity it's perfectly normal.

It's a bit strange to call them 'Killable' rather than 'obeying the same laws of physics as everyone else'. I propose all actors be huggable and kissable as well.

Venezuela off the rails
There is no difference between what you term social democracies and other democracies other than the level of redistribution of wealth that has been agreed upon. The important distinction is democracy versus totalitarianism. Removing the term limit on the presidency and nationalizing key industries without proper compensation are not something generally observed in democracies. It constitutes a worrying trend. Hitler was voted into power remember. Power once gained is not so easily relinquished. Although in an unstable state, perhaps these movements away from democracy are inevitable.

I'm Certain Chavez thinks he is doing whats right for the country. He's also likely to be more than a little paranoid after his coup experience.
