Well, basically all companions follow the same formula: You recruit them and they give you their quest, along the way you gain reputation with them by saying things they like/don't like, after a few rather fast occurring talks (they seem to trigger on completing quests, gaining rep and sleeping/travelling between locations) all eligible companions try to get in your pants because everybody wants the Watcher. So yeah, it's formulaic and kinda shallow. However, they're definitely more interesting to have around than in POE1, because the relationship system also works between them - they like and dislike each other, which can lead to extra dialogues or spats. Also, they are a constant presence during quests - they comment on things and interject in dialogues. Also, they're all voiced so this all makes them more alive, so to speak.

Aramintai replied to Majber's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
I did her first quest (the one with the stolen gloves) but I don't even have an option to ask her to join. Wonder what I did wrong. Or do I also have to finish the quest with the tablet and Arkemyr? Yea, it seems this is required too. -
The prostitute guy was one of his schoolmates in the magic school. That whole convo gave me "Aloth was and is a clueless, babbling nerd" vibe, but that's nothing new. It was funny. Don't ever change, Aloth Honestly, I wasn't expecting Pallegina to have a romance, because she's Josh Sawyer's character and he hates romances. So if she doesn't have one I'm not surprised. Not sure about Eder though. Has anybody finished his quest and found his past lover? Cuz that thing seems to be gnawing at him, even though there was an option to flirt with him. Maybe the quest needs to be finished first to start anything with him? Also, it seems that most of the romances are bi? Tekehu, Xoti, Maia...What the ef But whatever.

If Pallegina is still with the Vailian Republics you can find her at the palace in Neketaka. Maia also can be found there, or later at the Brass Citadel, which is also in Neketaka. Fassina works in the Dark Cupboard (a shop near Arkemyr's Manor) in Neketaka. Gotta do her quest first to make her join. Ydwin works in the animancers tower at the Sacred Stair in Neketaka. -

Portraits II
Aramintai replied to Amentep's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
I'm glad you found it suitable. Personally, I'm very glad how my custom portrait turned out as well, makes me enjoy the game even more. Funny thing, it was one the first I did but it still turned out one of the best looking. -
I just got Pallegina as a companion in the palace and immediately after Xoti started an angry rant how she hates Pallegina and threw "me or her" ultimatum at me, barely calmed her down . I think this is a bug in their relationship numbers under the hood, she shouldn't be hating on her so much just after I got her, right?

Vela not spawning
Aramintai replied to Yenkaz's question in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire Technical Support (Spoiler Warning!)
She's bugged. It was stated in known issues, a fix won't come until next patch which will happen only next week. The only way to make her appear is to create a manual legacy, but there are other more severe bugs there, like incorrect Eder ending, for example. So it's your choice. -
So not only is he bugged in imported save legacy to have a Night Market ending even if it was supposed to be mayor of Dyrford, but even when creating manual legacy both "strengthened his faith" or "made him skeptical" options lead him to say that he went on to visit his parents in Aedyr I didn't look much further, but manual legacies need a closer look too. There could be other bugs there.

From what I saw from Cohh's streams (he's playing human male) there was a flirting option with Eder, but he didn't pick it. Tekehu straight on came on at him but Cohh rebuked him. Also Tekehu flirted with just about anybody, seems he's a promiscuous kinda of guy. I got the Iron Bull vibe from him. Personally, I hate it when romances are aggressively shoved down the players throats like that. Xoti is definitely romance able. She seemed to have some feelings towards Eder at first, but Cohh was nice to her so she got together with him instead. It was kinda cringy and short, and somewhat out of nowhere. So to people who are expecting something groundbreaking out of romances - don't.

I dunno, man, devs posted that rogue's sneak attack scales with power level now. It could be big for single class who gains them faster than multiclass. So this will need some testing. https://forums.obsidian.net/topic/97241-thread-for-those-of-us-who-want-to-roll-a-single-or-multi-roguelets-talk/?p=2006691

Baby on Board
Aramintai replied to ThatUndeadLegacy's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
Well, it's unknown whether this will be fixed for release, but here are some options to try to make the baby orlan to appear: 1. Don't import a save file, instead choose all POE1 decisions from scratch during character creation. 2. Replay the quest in POE1 in specific order and complete the game. I've a seen post in another thread claiming that the flag isn't triggering because the quest is not completed in correct order. Apparently the correct order is to take the baby first and then kill the evil dude, not the other way around.
