As opposed to virtual racism? The full answer is not appropriate for this thread, the only thread I find of any value on this forum and the only reason I came back to this forum. Yet, there's your answer in short.

Got to meet him once. I barely knew who he was at the time we spoke, but our conversation impressed me in a big way so I looked him up and became a Motorhead fan. A truly awesome man. I never realized he was as old as he was.

Yay! Chris Avellone working on Divinity OS 2
Valsuelm replied to rheingold's topic in Computer and Console
There's no game company on the face of the planet that Chris belongs at more than Larian. I did not expect the stars to align, but they have. Best pure news I've read in gaming in many years. -
Can we get a modding sub-forum?
Valsuelm replied to TrashMan's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Generally that's what game companies do. Fans are generally ok with this, though not all modders are. The legality of it all is questionable of course, but unless someone ever challenges it, it is what it is. It's generally not financially worth it to challenge it, even if one wanted to. And that's the story with a great many things in the computer gaming world, and just the world in general. I wouldn't sweat it either way. If you want to make a mod, make a mod. If you don't, don't. Just be prepared that Obsidian (or pretty much any other game company that makes a game you make a mod for) will want a piece of any $$$ pie, and very well may take the design from your mod and put it into their game. -
Can we get a modding sub-forum?

I suggest looking up the origin of 'Soon™'. A trademark not originated by Obsidian nor on it's forums. A summation of the meaning of 'Soon™' though would be: 'who knows when.. .maybe never.. maybe even tomorrow, but probably not'. -
What level did you pledge at? Any level that gave the Boxed Collector's Edition also gave a beta key... It's why I didn't get the Boxed Collector's Edition. I didn't want the temptation of a beta. Beta =/= expansion. There's a boxed collector's edition level without the expansion. However, the signed CE should include White March. At least that's the impression I get from Kickstarter reward list. Indeed. My bad. It was possible to purchase the Collector's Boxed Edition without the expansion (the $140 pledge). That said, one would think that the OP would know what they pledged for.

I've kinda just about given up on Obsidian and I'm guessing many of the thousands of other physical backers have too. Hence not hearing more about it. Obsidian has been just shy of horribad when it has come to communicating with the physical backers since the game launched. We had to wait a long time for the actual disks, we had to wait a long time after that to be able to patch, we can't currently patch to 2.0 (or at least there's no easy way to know how to do this), we can't get The White March for our physical copies (or at least there's no easy way to know how to do this), and there's been very little communication / heads up as to what's going on, and what little there has been has just about never been in a timely manner (we need multiple threads asking the same type of questions). This is a failure on Obsidian's part to meet expectations, and moreover to communicate proactively to set alternate expectations in order to preserve the respect of it's customers (arguably many of it's most loyal customers (or at least formerly so)). Frankly, while I've little doubt there are some great people working at Obsidian, I get the impression that Feargus and the other guys at the top have taken the goodwill of the game's backers for granted at this point. Which brings up a related issue: Where on earth is the Novella from Avellone?! There's been multiple threads asking about it, yet nothing from Obsidian, and it was promised quite some time back. All it takes is a heads up Obsidian. Basic customer service etiquette. Be proactive, not reactive. Someone in that company is failing in this department, and hard.

Soon has come and gone... A better answer would be nice.

Can we get a modding sub-forum?
Valsuelm replied to TrashMan's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
That there isn't one is good evidence of just how out of touch the mods and/or Obsidian are with much of the community... Missed opportunity. Alas, oh well, c'est la vie. -
I can't recommend the books enough, they are to this day my favorite series. As for the Eye of the World, yeah he blatantly copied a lot of stuff in the first book ((one spoiler in the second example) though he might have not copied the works them selves but the source material), but by the end of it he makes the world his own and in book 2 it really takes off. Robert Jordan is an unparalleled world builder (well one of the best at least) and a foreshadower unlike any other, plus to this day I have not read a work by an author that portrays battles and conflicts better them him(or at least give me goosebumps). The culminations in his books is what kept me reading the most, he would build and build and build the story and the payoff he would give you in the end is like no other. Some would say it's like going through mud to get the pearl, but in my case his pearls were worth it every time. The thing about his books is that there really isn't one main character and this in combination with his long descriptions and world building makes for really long books and a really long series. My recommendation is to give it a go until book 2 and see where you stand there, as book 2 is really the benchmark for the rest of the series. Jordan is great. I highly recommend checking out Erikson's Malazan series if you've already read the Wheel of Time. He does battles, 'epic', and evokes raw emotion from the reader even better than Jordan methinks.

The deadly silence ...

Did you install the hotfix, which is said to address this issue (or one just like it)? -
Which would be when?

Anyone know how the 50% rate holds up in 1.06? Is it too much after the nerf to bounty XP or does it still balance well?

Physical Copy Patch
Valsuelm replied to dynastichero's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
So far as I've been able to determine there is no way to patch it as of now. Obsidian said weeks, if not a month or more ago now, that they'd be making a stand alone patcher for it soon. Soon hasn't materialized yet it seems. -
This forum should adopt this rule.

Grow up. Seriously. Please.

Oh, come on. If you want to leave in a righteous and grandiose manner, then please give it a little more effort. I'll rate your post with a D- Not everyone here operates on a 5th grade trolling mentality. Many of the most recent posters in this thread have a lot of growing up to do. It's sadly doubtful they'll ever do it at this point. I just about never agree with PrimeJunta, but the immaturity, tastelessness, and derailing attempts indeed has sunk quite low. It's unfortunate that yet again, a moderator (same one as before) is the prime instigator of this off topic trolling crud that drives people from threads and from the forum all together.

The bastardization of the US Flag with Pan African colors is indeed problematic on a number of levels. The Confederate Flag isn't corrupting anything, nor does it represent a movement that seeks to undermine the culture of a nation. It represents quite the contrary to most of those who would fly it, and originally did. Both the Confederate flag and the Pan-African flag have been misused to represent racism, and unfortunately have come to primarily represent it in the minds of many ignorants. Though it could be argued that the Pan-African flag was racist from day one given it's origin, it represents liberation to many.
